So first! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm efd:

you did it! :)
  9:06pm Eddy in Australia:

Hi Evan, Holly and ...
Avatar 9:06pm Holly in NC:

Rip Tucker 1999-2014, my avatar for the evening. Good, good dog.
Avatar 9:07pm Holly in NC:

So flute!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm efd:

aw, so sad to hear that Holly. My condolences to you and all his pals.
  9:08pm john:

Horslips! Can't be an EFD first, but I don't remember hearing them here. An old dog and I send sympathies, Holly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm efd:

it's an EFD second! Same song too, not surprisingly (to me).
  9:09pm Eddy in Australia:

^^^ What they said, Holly.
  9:11pm john:

Long-time fave rave of mine, great to hear them! A deep catalogue there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm fleep:

All the life forms here salute Tucker, Holly, and efd. Rock on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...couldn't say it better than flleep (no surprise)
...horslips - Tull-ish PowerPop!; could only be the efd show...
Avatar 9:18pm Holly in NC:

Thank you all. Please send good thoughts to Tucker's human mom Leslie, who is not doing well :-( Tuck predated both her human children....
  9:19pm john:

Tull-ish? Ouch. Way more than an intermittent flute in a rock song.
Avatar 9:20pm Holly in NC:

May as well just clicky star whole show now, I can see it's going to be one of those nights, Evan :-)
Avatar 9:22pm Holly in NC:

Oh! And did y'all see that Omnivore is doing THIS re Game Theory:
  9:24pm herb.nyc:

Tuned in 5 mins ago, after my (library copy of) " 70s " band The Darkness' "hot cakes" cd ended (ugh, sexist cover). And gulp, i have no Game Theory records. And gulp, my condolences about Tucker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- no diss intended, John.
- Thx again for DrumboSummit! (Wouldn't even mind if it got more technical.)
Avatar 9:33pm Holly in NC:

Only fair trade would be Caroline Keddy ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm efd:

  9:37pm john:

None taken, RR! Old fave band of mine, that's all.

Evan, you'll have to waive your $30 million player option for SF to pick up your contract.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Irwin intro'ing me to Clientele & Alasdair MacLean put me in mind of efd intro'ing me to GameTheory & Scott Miller (on the sad occasion of his demise) - as they are both smart & wistful guitarpop - if that makes any sense...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm efd:

I do have 10 and 5 rights, come to think of it.
  9:42pm john:

Thankfully exempting you from salary dump time!
Avatar 9:44pm Holly in NC:

Hollywood Brats, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm pacific standard simon:

Whoop! Home from work -- I was listening to last week's show there -- kept wanting to beat the drummers with a rubber chicken while yelling, "What about ______!"

Holly, sorry about Tucker, although it was expected. We have a "Tucker", too -- a youngish rottweiler, very sweet-tempered.
  10:07pm herb.nyc:

EFD being traded? Baseball commish won't allow it! [Darn. I did a google for "news of the weird euphemisms" in ref to f- and s- words (
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Fuzzy:

Sounds like the 80's, my hair is growing back -- I can feel it!
  10:11pm Carmichael:

Evan, my brutha. Out here in the man cave, digging ir.
  10:13pm herb.nyc:

(Sorry, iPhone issues)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Holly - Sorry to hear the news. My boyhood dog met her end when the school bus ran her over. It's never easy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm pacific standard simon:

Thought the informational note said, "Monday night at 78rpm!" That would have been strange.
Swag For Life Member 10:16pm 12539:

You've got guts, efd.
  10:16pm phat:

might as well play it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm pacific standard simon:

"How low can you go?" -- Limbo Rock
Avatar 10:16pm Holly in NC:

NO. No no non nono nonononononononono

Have to disagree sometime!

  10:17pm Carmichael:

Aviary?? ELOviary!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm fleep:

Oh, just relax and let it happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Fuzzy:

Hey, I like the riffage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm pacific standard simon:

Carry on my wayward son.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Uncle Michael:

You rang?
  10:19pm Carmichael:

Mickey effing Thomas.
Avatar 10:19pm Holly in NC:

@pss - Now that song I like :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Uncle Michael:

Where only efd dare go.
  10:19pm ScottC:

OK I'm am transported back to GGP 77' - Starship - Hagar - Journey - Marx Meadow - Sick on Southern Comfort
  10:19pm Carmichael:

Thomas? Baker?
  10:21pm ScottC:

I could not have been happier...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Uncle Michael:

Vomiting is how you know when you've had enough Southern Comfort.
Avatar 10:23pm Holly in NC:

@UM - True that. Word. Yes. (shudder)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm pacific standard simon:

Southern Comfort was mother's milk to me -- trying to prematurely graduate to Wild Turkey was my barf-y downfall.
Avatar 10:25pm Holly in NC:

@efd, all I'm gonna say is that if I request Rush on my birthday, I'll expect some serious consideration before you say 'no' ;-)
Avatar 10:26pm jeff-m:

walking with that Jefferson Starship chorus looping my my head now....
Avatar 10:26pm Danne D:

Hi EFD :)
Hi Everyone :)
Hi Holly :)
Yeah, at least EFD could play Time Stand Still ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm pacific standard simon:

Oh, he'll do it -- or we'll beat him like a drum.
Avatar 10:27pm Holly in NC:

Hi Danne!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm efd:

@jeff, my work here is done.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm pacific standard simon:

I recommend Bob & Doug & Geddie doing "Take Off".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm efd:

No problem, Holly - I have my go-to Rush song.
  10:29pm bobby the w:

more glam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Uncle Michael:

all this machinery, making modern music...
  10:31pm ScottC:

@PST: I graduated from Southern Comfort to Brass Monkey - NOW THAT is a downfall...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm pacific standard simon:

@ScottC - That's like the collapse of the Roman Empire.
  10:34pm ScottC:

@PST: I was absolutely VANDALIZED!
  10:35pm john:

I've had to jump in and out here, so I don't know if you've mentioned it or not, but RIP Dick Wagner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm efd:

bobby the w, I actually had something else picked out.
Avatar 10:38pm Holly in NC:

@efd, no, your go-to Rush song doesn't count. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm efd:

ohh, thanks for the reminder john - I did mean to mention it, though I didn't pull anything to play.
Avatar 10:40pm Holly in NC:

This may be the 2nd time I've commented on efd's board that I always forget about the greatness of the Insomniacs until someone (efd) plays them
Avatar 10:41pm northguineahills:

Forgot to say Howdy, EFD, Howdy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm efd:

howdy NGH!
  10:43pm john:

Heck, play enough records from the '70s and it'll be a Dick Wagner tribute even if you don't intend to!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm efd:

ha, good point!
  10:45pm phat:

Jesus, this "the paul and john" is fantastic.

Avatar 10:47pm Lonious Monk:

I love this Soundbreaker song SUMMER
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Uncle Michael:

Were these guys big Moodies fans?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Uncle Michael:

Quite a "Justin and John" thing going on, vocally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm pacific standard simon:

Tommy's Holiday Camp!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm pacific standard simon:

  10:57pm emily:

ugh so perfect - all i ever wanted to hear on my birthday was Song of Summer - thanks, evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm efd:

Julie always points out the similarity to the Moody Blues as well... not sure if that was on purpose.

I guess "resort" is pretty close, but not necessarily a fancy upscale place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm pacific standard simon:

Americans don't like doing holidays as a group, unless it's upscale, or a bus tour. I think the British thing for holiday camps is closely related to their tradition of pub singing.
  11:03pm john:

That's pretty much it, Evan. Butlins is not an upscale place at all, but a chain of resorts specifically for working class families to get away for a week or two and have their days and nights filled with activities, starting at a time when nobody else was really doing that. I think it's gone a little further upmarket in this age of cheap flights abroad; the chain is certainly smaller than it used to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Uncle Michael:

Which Julie, Evan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm efd:

Dark Night of the Julie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Uncle Michael:

She's on past my bedtime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm pacific standard simon:

Surely you've had a dark night of the July.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Uncle Michael:

I need to make a point of checking out every show I've never heard, on the archive, at least once.
Avatar 11:11pm Danne D:

I gotta sign off :) will still be tuned in though. Thanks for the usual greatness EFD :)
Have a good night everyone!
Bye Holly :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Santos L Halper:

Evening Evan, tuning in late.
@Holly, thanks for the Game Theory tip! I've got Distortion of Glory, but reissues will be very welcome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm pacific standard simon:

I'm guessing that if I won tickets and didn't use them because I live 3,000 miles away from the venue, I would not be allowed to call in again.
Avatar 11:19pm bobdoesthings:

viking moses/spenking! I have a split they did, cutesy charming endearing folky stuff..
Avatar 11:21pm Holly in NC:

@Santos - You are more than welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm pacific standard simon:

@Uncle Michael - this sounds like the kind of thing you might play if you were trying to bait Evan into commenting on your playlist.
Avatar 11:25pm KP:

joy, look im soaking in it
Avatar 11:25pm Fernando M P:

I missed listening to the show live. It's great to be here again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Uncle Michael:

I would never stoop to chumming for Evan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm pacific standard simon:

"One potential seller is the Cubs, whom Giants scout Pat Burrell has watched all week. They have a utilityman who can play second base and center field, Emilio Bonifacio. The Cubs reportedly are asking a lot for Bonifcaio even though he is eligible for free agency after the season." -- SF sportswriter Henry Schulman.
Avatar 11:29pm Holly in NC:

@pss - I almost choked with laughter & there's no one here to give me the Heimlich, so stop being so droll!

btw, where is Droll these days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm pacific standard simon:

  11:30pm P-90:

The BEST Sweet Jane IMHO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm pacific standard simon:

I just wanted to say that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Uncle Michael:

The Cubs have been getting good returns on everyone they deal. Even a rental like Bonifacio will come at a price.
Avatar 11:31pm KP:

Dick Wagner, esteemed Michigan rock guitarist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm Uncle Michael:

This might be the best possible Wagner tribute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm efd:

Brought to you in all its Dynaflex™ glory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm Uncle Michael:

woopa woopa woopa
11:33pm Michael from the Left Coast:

The guy who always gets left out of this is Prakash John, the unbelievable bass player on this track! Dick Wagner will be missed--he was an amazing talent
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm pacific standard simon:

It's true -- if you know no other piece of his work, you might know this. Or his Alice Cooper stuff.
  11:37pm Toddophonic:

Does Pat Burrell scout opposing ballplayers or ladies in attendance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm pacific standard simon:

HA! Best of both worlds for him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Uncle Michael:

I'm going to listen to the remainder in darkness. Thanks, Evan. G'nite all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm efd:

this may not be the best song to listen to in the dark...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm pacific standard simon:

Speaking of second-hand stories -- my father once bought cocaine from a Dodgers outfielder. That's all I'm going to say about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm efd:

Thanks for listening everyone, and thanks for commenting commenters! Todd, I'll check out that link on my own time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm pacific standard simon:
