¡Hola, Miguel Van Laar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

Good afternoon, Mike and all, and happy Monday!
Avatar 12:03pm glenn:

speaking of happy mondays, did the orioles lose yesterday? i'm too lazy to look it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Doug Schulkind:

Why no, glenn, they didn't. After finishing above .500 on a harrowing 10-game west coaster, the O's lost only a game in the standing to the Jayankees.
Avatar 12:06pm Mike VL:

¡Hola Doug y James! Glad you're here for the ride today...
Avatar 12:06pm glenn:

Avatar 12:07pm Mike VL:

And hello Glenn! I like Buck...hope your O's do well this year.,
Avatar 12:08pm glenn:

this just in - susan sarandon boned bowie. hide your surprise.
Avatar 12:09pm glenn:

not my o's.. i'm a blue jays boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Doug Schulkind:

@Mike VL
The O's are mine. glenn is a fan of the North-of-Border Birds.
Avatar 12:10pm glenn:

marcus stroman will win the cy young within five years.
Avatar 12:10pm Mike VL:

Well, you all hate me because I was raised a Yankees (!) fan. No hard feelings, please.
Avatar 12:12pm glenn:

there's hope for you yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm listener james from westwood:

I get the report on that team when I call home. Family came from the Bronx, but in my case that fandom seems to have skipped a generation.
Avatar 12:13pm glenn:

"that team". funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm listener james from westwood:

Dad wasn't specifically NOT a Bklyn Dodgers fan; they were outta there by the time I arrived. His feelings on the Mets are not strong but not hostile.
Avatar 12:16pm glenn:

oh, and also - sarah palin launches her own video channel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm listener james from westwood:

He did have NY Giants season tix for a long time. Stopped getting them before we moved to northern NJ. He was definitely sick of them by that point, proximity of Meadowlands notwithstanding. Plus he knew one of the Maras in school and resented him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm listener james from westwood:

Shhh, don't name her unless you know the charm to send her back down below.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm listener james from westwood:

This show right here is batting a thousand, BTW.
Avatar 12:20pm glenn:

i really wish i could have been around to do a tour of some of those crazy old time ball parks.
Avatar 12:21pm Mike VL:

Thanks, James! I try to hit for average...I'll "settle" for .406 even
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm listener james from westwood:

I could've taken in a Twins game as part of a press junket to Mpls for a nurses' convention; rather sad I didn't. My tally of visited stadiums is very short. (I like the ones where a beer doesn't cost you the kidney you need to process it, which may limit me some.)
Avatar 12:24pm glenn:

if the sac fly rule had been in effect back then, i.e., not counting as an at bat, ted would have hit something like .417.
Avatar 12:25pm glenn:

don't come to the skydome, james. 11.25$ canadian for domestic swill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm listener james from westwood:

Yergh. That's above my pay grade. Maybe I'll stick to huffing keyboard cleaner.
Avatar 12:29pm glenn:

oh, and the pretzels? aye carumba. the worse thing ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Nate K:

Give the MVL some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Nate K:

I need this: Angola Soundtrack 2: Hypnosis, Distortions and Other Sonic Innovations 1969-1978
Avatar 12:41pm Mike VL:

Nate! Thanks for stopping by! That track from "Angola.." was just the beggining. Chock full! Check your mailbox this week, I'll toss it in there for you.

Good afternoon Mike. It's always a pleasant surprise to hear you again, if an all too rare one
Avatar 12:48pm Mike VL:

Hello, Fred. Very nice to see you here and thanks. I try to get a few fill-ins in a year so they don't change the front-door keys on me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm listener james from westwood:

Mike, Ken always has s spare key hidden under the Jandek storage trailer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Doug Schulkind:

@Mike VL
We solved that problem here at the Drummer Stream: We removed all the doors. A bit rough when using the unisex bathroom, but we're all responsible adults here. (Well, almost all.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm listener james from westwood:

"Unscrew the locks from the doors! Unscrew the doors themselves from their jambs!"
Avatar 12:54pm Mike VL:

@Doug No Doors...I like it. I may make it the blurb from my show from this point on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Uncle Michael:

Quite a groove-fest you've got going, Mike.

Avatar 1:54pm Mike VL:

Marlena Shaw is about to tell you how it is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Doug Schulkind:

Love the Fuzz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Stanley:

Hey hey!
Just thought I'd let you know I'm here and digging the sounds, Mike.
Avatar 2:14pm Mike VL:

And how can you not appreciate an album cover like this? - www.discogs.com...
Avatar 2:17pm Mike VL:

Hi there, Stanley! Thanks for saying that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Doug Schulkind:

You're right, Mike. One can not not appreciate that cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Stanley:

(Excuse me Mike) - Doug, on a technical point I'm listening to the stream via MediaMonkey for the first time and I have to say the quality is impressive. Better than iTunes, which was my default player until now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Uncle Michael:

I don't think iTunes involves the standard mp3 stream. Winamp. MediaMonkeey, etc....all do. And should all sound the same. I use the mp3 stream through the Squeezebox hardware that I use and it's great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Doug Schulkind:

But will you let me pet your MediaMonkey?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Stanley:

@UM I don't what I was streaming through iTunes but I like this MediaMonkey business.

@Doug - well he hasn't bitten me yet but I did get him on the internet, so be careful.
Avatar 2:39pm Mike VL:

Media Monkees are difficult to housebreak
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm fred:

@Uncle Michael: There are alternate streams for GTDR? I thought there was only the mp3 one... That could be useful when I run into bandwidth problems
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Three cheers to Mike Van Laar for a great show! The stream runs 24 hours a day, but you are allowed a few naps here and there. Just wake up in time for Tape Hiss, tomorrow, 12-3pm (ET) here on Give the Drummer Radio (pronounced RAHD-yo, just because).

Tony Coulter continues to be on vacation, but he's cued up a great old Tape Hiss show for your listening pleasure tomorrow.

Tune in tomorrow at noon here on the Drummer Stream for rare, unheard cassettes from: Volkswhale, Glorious Moodmen, Kopf/Kurz, & Metabolist.

There will be a playlist for Tony's show for all to converge and converse. It will be here: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Doug Schulkind:

The character in the movie The Warriors who attempts to bring all the gangs together is based on the lead singer in the Ghetto Brothers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm listener james from westwood:

I can dig it!
Avatar 2:55pm Mike VL:

Thanks to all of you for making me feel welcome! See you around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Uncle Michael:

fred, I'm just not sure if the stream in the iTunes store is the same feed as the one linked here on the playlist. It may be. I'm not sure about TuneIn either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Uncle Michael:

I've got my groove good and deep today, thanks to you, Mike. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks a ton, Mike!! Dug the hell out of the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm fred:

Thanks Mike for a great show! I hope you'll be back sooner rather than later
Avatar 3:03pm Mike VL:

Thanks everyone!
