Evening Dave and all Echologists
  9:14pm P-90:

swingin' sounds of the Echo-a-Go-Go
Avatar 9:15pm Dave Mandl:

Hey, @P-90.
Avatar 9:17pm Droll:

I (incorrectly) guessed the opening track to be Elliott Sharp. Marclay is also an accomplished room-clearer.
Avatar 9:18pm JakeGould:

This is a a sweet version of “You Can Make It If You Try.” And HELLO!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm fleep:

Has anyone had a Whooda sighting lately? Glomming McWiFi and such?
Avatar 9:19pm Dave Mandl:

Howdy, Droll, Jake.
  9:21pm P-90:

@fleep; I think he did turn up recently, I'm trying to remember when/where. He might have actually called in to someone's show in the last week or so.
  9:22pm Carmichael:

Apologies, just got here. I promise to keep listening. I promise.
Swag For Life Member 9:22pm 12539:

Don't be so hard on yourself, Dave. Few things say Old School Hipster as clearly as Christian Marclay.
Avatar 9:24pm Droll:

By "Room clearer" I mean "My kind of music", of course. I liked the opener, but everyone did play guitar on it, so I'm not sure I get partial credit for Mr. Sharp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Irwin:

Sly did cover "Que Sera, Sera." Is true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Irwin:

Avatar 9:26pm Dave Mandl:

@Irwin: Serious? I've never heard that, but I need to.
  9:26pm johnk77:

Avatar 9:26pm Dave Mandl:

Ah, thanks.
Avatar 9:27pm JakeGould:

@fleep What about Revolution Rabbit?
Avatar 9:27pm Dave Mandl:

Evening, Carmichael.
@12539: Haha, yup, that's true.
Avatar 9:27pm Dave Mandl:

Evening, @johnk77.
  9:28pm P-90:

@Jake: he was around today!
Avatar 9:29pm Droll:

I miss listener G -- we just celebrated Bloomsday without him...

sounded cool
afraid it would crash my work windows machine
thanx for shoutout selecter
u brought the noise
  9:36pm johnk77:

was that the producer Craig Leon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm fleep:

@Jake Rabbit popped up on TranspacificSP and Daniel Blumin's boards. And what an eccentric set this is turning out to be.
  9:36pm Carmichael:

Do not talk smack about Christian Marclay. He was more important to my youth than Wonder Bread or Keds.
  9:40pm johnk77:

lothar on a major!
major label alternative

gift from the future
Avatar 9:42pm Dave Mandl:

@johnk77: That record is 45 years old! Well, not my copy, but the recording.
Avatar 9:51pm doca:

Hi, Dave M., listening silently here and enjoying the show, as usual
  9:51pm RTP:

On my Nommos LP, that track has no apostrophe. As if it matters, but I edit copy. So.
Avatar 9:52pm Dave Mandl:

@RTP: It does matter. No way to tell looking at this copy, but it sounds like it's a typo. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Irwin:

Dave Cousins is one my least favorite vocalists of all time. But one of your faves, Dave?
Avatar 9:55pm JakeGould:

This “Lemon Pie” song. That “Custard Pie” song. That “Squeeze my lemon…” song. All of that really grosses out the delicious world of dessert to me.
Avatar 9:55pm Dave Mandl:

@Irwin: An acquired test, definitely. He's not one of my faves, but I'm OK with him.
Avatar 9:55pm JakeGould:

@fleep: Phew! I miss Revolution Rabbit.
Avatar 9:55pm Droll:

[stepping back from Irwin and Dave]
Avatar 9:56pm Dave Mandl:

@Jake: Agreed, those guys should keep it to themselves.
Avatar 9:57pm JakeGould:

@Droll: Just throw a shoe at those cats like they do in cartoons where apparently people were poor, but not poor enough that losing one shoe due to a cat making noise was that big a deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Irwin:

Sonic Youth: more of my least favorite vocals. Finish with some Ella Fitzgerald and you'll drive me right into Little Steve's Underground Garage.
Avatar 10:01pm Dave Mandl:

@Irwin: I'm pretty much with you there. But I like that Alice Cooper song.
Avatar 10:02pm Dave Mandl:

Probably more vocals on my show tonight than the last six months combined.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Irwin:

Sorry, Little STEVEN.
Avatar 10:04pm Droll:

Alice Cooper also has a radio show. I thought he was pretty good.
Avatar 10:06pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Curious what he does. I have to try to check that out. Esp. since I recently found out he's a Laura Nyro fan.
Avatar 10:06pm slugluv1313:

oh yes, i remember Sly's version of "Que Sera Sera" -- even as a kid i thought . . . BIZARRE! but ya know, i kinda like it :)
Avatar 10:07pm Droll:

DM, He's syndicated, it doesn't go too far off script, but he's still interesting and articulate and likes B-sides.
Avatar 10:08pm JakeGould:

People, seriously. Chill out. We need love! Or at least reasonable ambivalence towards one another!
Avatar 10:13pm doca:

That I know the show has a 2% limit only on rock and roll, not on general vocals, just saying...
Avatar 10:15pm Shaun(ununun):

< Kim Gordon's vocals. 3
Avatar 10:18pm Droll:

doca, No apparent limit on Mellotron or time signatures.
Avatar 10:22pm doca:

@Droll: that's true. Though in vocal-related issues, that Stomy Six reminded me of KHLAAAAMMMM
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Popping Up.
...You can get Little Steven's as a podcast from this odd source endearingly En Esapnol:
Avatar 10:24pm Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: Welcome!!!
Avatar 10:24pm doca:

Hey, @RRN63, nice to see you again!
Avatar 10:24pm JakeGould:

Yo Rev Rabbit! What up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 10:29pm Dave Mandl:

Hey there, @pss, and @doca.
  10:29pm Carmichael:

Energizer Bunny with a contact pickup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm pacific standard simon:

Hey, Dave! Tell the kids that I cooked and ate Bambi today.
Avatar 10:32pm Dave Mandl:

That reminds me: Our next drum special, with Irwin, EFD, Dennis Diken, and me, will happen on EFD's show on July 23rd. You heard it here first.
Avatar 10:33pm Dave Mandl:

@pss: Um, no.
Avatar 10:33pm Droll:

So percussively looking forward to EFD's show July 23rd! Dennis Chambers and Keith Moon are still unplayed in the throwdown trilogy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm pacific standard simon:

Excellent news!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm pacific standard simon:

...and absolutely NO beat-boxin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm pacific standard simon:

Cowell not Cow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm pacific standard simon:

Although you can play Henry Cow too, if you want.
Avatar 10:45pm Droll:

Nice accounting trick, but referring to it as "R.I.O." does not change the fact R stands for Rock.
  10:46pm P-90:

"accounting trick" haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm pacific standard simon:

THAT is too much show for 3 hours!
Avatar 10:51pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: It stands in opposition to rock.
Avatar 10:55pm Droll:

You're gonna need a better lawyer.
Avatar 10:56pm Dave Mandl:

Open-and-shut case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm pacific standard simon:

Don't pinch yer finger in that thing.
11:02pm Eric the Half a Bee:

The last trio sounds great. A very attractive, hip dancer and fellow alum of my alma mater (she was a few years ahead of me) was/is very good buddies or more w/Mr. Belogenis. Felt jealous of him for that. Of the amazingly talented, play with everyone under the sun Messieurs Blumenkranz and Wolleson, the less said the better...
Avatar 11:04pm Dave Mandl:

@Eric: Haha, OK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm fleep:

Swag For Life Member 11:24pm 12539:

How have I not heard this?
  11:29pm P-90:

Thnx for the link, fleep. SO cool.
Avatar 11:30pm Droll:

fleep, I followed Riley's instructions but all I came up with was stuff that sounds like King Crimson '80-'84.
Swag For Life Member 11:56pm 12539:

Give the guy an extra hour and he immediately reaches for the 12 minute songs.
Avatar 11:57pm Droll:

Loved Steamhammer! Wonderful show, DM. However, please remember 2% of a 3 hour show is only 3:36. And just to reiterate, "Rock In Opposition" is not "Negative Rock", playing it does not subtract from your total.

Have a fun week yinz!
Swag For Life Member 11:57pm 12539:

Thanks Dave!
  11:58pm P-90:

Thanks Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm pacific standard simon:

Yay Dave -- goodnight and good rest!
Avatar 11:59pm Dave Mandl:

Night, folks. Have a great week!
