Nice extended hard psych opening set -- looking forward to hearing what else you have in your cart for your inaugural voyage.
  3:30am Ben:

  3:46am rw:

Welcome Mr. Conklin! I agree with the other commenters. Your show is off to a terrific start! This show may help me stay up and get a bit of extra computer work finished. Looking forward to Jandek track too if I can stay up that late. I just saw him play in LA about a week ago.
Avatar 3:47am Jeff Conklin:

Man, you guys are so great. Thanks!
Avatar 3:50am Mary Wing:

I, too, am anxiously awaiting this unreleased Jandek--it's almost an oxymoron!
  3:51am Old Mother Hell:

Always love me a good drone on a Sunday morning. Cheers!
  3:52am Bayta:

Love this Half High track. Bummed I missed most of the first hour of the show. Luckily there's still a couple of hours to go. Must. Stay. Awake.
Avatar 3:54am northguineahills:

I just poured through the Jandek interviews (this weekend) that the wire did a few months. That would totally hit the spot.
Avatar 4:01am Jeff Conklin:

Ill get the Jandek in in the next set
  4:04am Will of Ontario:

Good Morning Jeff,
I landed here from a search I was doing on a completely different level {god bless wikipedia links} and once here thought "What is this place" so I clicked the listen control and instantly found myself in a transcendental place full of sound and colour the likes I've not been privy too in sometime. Pure heaven. Let me tell you that you can add this Canuck to your fan base.I see apparently you are "filling in here" and it's a one off. I hope that you continue because I must continue listening again and again. Fantastic accidental landing.
Avatar 4:11am Yair Yona:

oh hello
Avatar 4:11am Jeff Conklin:

Great you found us, Will!
Avatar 4:13am northguineahills:

Cool, Will! The colors here change very randomly here at WFMU
Avatar 4:14am northguineahills:

This Mike Cooper W/ Steve Gunn works perfectly.
Avatar 4:16am Jay/London:

hi Jeff great first show for you.. keep it up :) really like this pony blues
Avatar 4:18am Mary Wing:

Yep, that's the classic Jandek guitar sound.
  4:23am rw:

Unmistakable. Somebody should really teach him to tune that thing.
  4:26am Devon of Ontario:

Make that 2 Canucks in your fan base who will listen over and over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am Wynford Eagle:

Nice to hear the old jandek....bless him, can't play. can't sing, but some how i do like it. Not as extreme as the early stuff, but still very strange indeed, just how i like it. Did get to see him in downtown London in a small church...he was good. Wondering what his mental state must be, now the 'mystery' of corwood industries has been out for a while....listening in from the very sunny and blue jurassic coast of England....
  4:31am Will of Ontario:

Mornin' Devon :)
Where you at?
I'm in Neil Young's childhood North Ontario town of Omemee [near Peterborough]
Avatar 4:33am Jeff Conklin:

So this Pedestrian Deposit set was one of the best I've seen in years. Go see them if they come to yr town
Avatar 4:40am Simon P:

Mornin Jeff!
  4:43am Bayta:

Aw too bad that awesome live set got cut off so abruptly. Although this next track is rather nice in a retro sort of way.
Avatar 4:43am Jeff Conklin:

Hey Yair! Hey Simon!
  4:47am Devon of Ontario:

Toronto near High Park! *Live Fast // Neil Young*
Avatar 4:52am Jay/London:

this would make a good ring tone :)
  4:54am rw:

I could be wrong, but I don't think Jandek did that song at the show in LA last week (or was it two weeks ago?) but the first part of the set did sound much like that one. After that he played with and then took something of a back seat to a group of younger women, one of whom was being extremely flirty with the old dude. It was a little creepy but kind of good in that Jandekian sort of way.
  4:55am rw:

Turning in now. Thanks for helping me stay up and get a bit of Photoshoppery done this evening. Hope to hear you on the air again soon!
Avatar 5:02am Simon P:

Thanks for that Aaron Dilloway, great find from the archive
Avatar 5:04am Jeff Conklin:

Quite welcome, Simon. Very nice of Aaron to hand that over!

  5:11am DanBurke:

I haven't heard this great a collection of music since that time I got stoned with Lester Bangs
Avatar 5:13am thunderish' Jay:

i deeply recommend any kind of experimental and improv music or theatrical musical performance ... specially if in historical or religious locations
Avatar 5:15am thunderish' Jay:

truly holistic experiences of higher consciousnesses healthy scavangerism or evangelism
  5:15am Will of Ontario:

That made me laugh out loud DanBurke.
Not sure why [wink]
But it did.
  5:15am Bayta:

Chris Corsano and Bill Orcutt were just what the doctor ordered to help nodding heads wake the fuck up.
Avatar 5:16am Simon P:

@thunderish jay
yeah that's what churches and temples were built for
Avatar 5:18am thunderish' Jay:

agree simon .. but i prefer pre historic or medieval era
Avatar 5:19am thunderish' Jay:

Avatar 5:20am Simon P:

Jeff-you should get regular slot on WFMU with music this good
Avatar 5:21am thunderish' Jay:

if people were more freely users of those places today, the problem its in their moral property and elite apropriation
  5:22am fizzlebeak:

the museum Jandek performed at is Menil if anyone is visiting Houston that museum is a must visit especially if you are fascinated with Surrealism. located next door is a gallery dedicated to Cy Twombly.
  5:24am fizzlebeak:

awesome set Jeff!
Avatar 5:25am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, Fizzle. And thanks, Simon!
Avatar 5:25am thunderish' Jay:

ethnographic or ancient history local museums should be free to their own people everywhere .. its the foreigner who has to pay to see the culture of the ethnography of one place, not its own people
  5:25am ?:

@Simon P
i agree with you! hi, Jeff!
Avatar 5:27am thunderish' Jay:

they may not tell us the history's truth, but we actually don't need it .. the memory of our ancestors reside in us.. just a matter of getting in touch or favoring the wind

@@ DJ Jeff: I've listened to this radio station since the mid-1980's (I think) and I'm a big fan of what they do here.
I just wanna say that you nailed it tonight, you did as good a show as anyone with a regular slot. Hope to see you doing more fill-ins, and thanks for tonight.
Avatar 5:32am Jeff Conklin:

I am with you on that @fizzlebeak.. Great track by Burch!
  5:38am Over and Under:

@P-90 and Jeff: Same here and I agree. Sorry to hear about East Village Radio. One thing, though - it would be nice to hear more females (only Half High & Pedestrian Deposit have them??).
Avatar 5:39am Jherweg:

your show is synergizing with
those who have cheated death on the 3rd floor of ny pres hospital... impressive considering the floor is filled with open heart surgery survivors...
Avatar 5:42am Jeff Conklin:

  5:43am Bayta:

Avatar 5:43am Jeff Conklin:

@ Over and Under: Thanks. Yes it's a shame about EVR. As for lack of women this morning, definitely not planned that way! I think about the sound....
