Hey, I made the opening for once! Hi Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm rrg:

Only because he was late, Carm.

There are two kinds of people in this world; those who perpetually divide the world into two kinds of people, and those who do not.

I enjoy the pun on "unclear."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm common:

hey irwin! others! week is almost over...sorta!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Carmichael:

Irwin, it's Sidney Bechet's birthday today. Just sayin'.
  3:15pm Laura L:

Looks like she's also hiding a bony old leg under that skirt! Sacre blu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm common:

wow! this is the osmonds! never woulda thunk it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm rrg:

SoundHound confirms it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Webhamster Henry:

Irwin is the great reputation re-evaluator.
  3:20pm Jaune:

It could be a big bottle of mouthwash, non? Maybe she has halitosis, non?
  3:21pm Listening Out There:

Must have been The Osmonds in their druggy phase...
  3:22pm Jaune:

Michael Jackson, s'il vous plait?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Webhamster Henry:

They sounded a little like Oingo-Boingo.
  3:26pm grassmother:

Dammit I thought this was going to be a Ricky Martin song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm common:

always loved this stone roses tune. reminds me of being a carefree young-un.
  3:29pm Jaune:

Yeah, I really liked that song.
  3:30pm grassmother:

Get outta my head!!!!
Swag For Life Member 3:31pm BarbR:

Good story about the Stone Roses on NPR recently: www.npr.org...
  3:31pm grassmother:

Too crowded
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Ike:

Irwin's Head: A new comedy, this fall on Fox!
  3:32pm Jaune:

Some day I will look up "tokenism"....
Avatar 3:32pm Droll:

Last time Irwin put something in my head my brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare. I had to cram so many things to store everything in there! And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people, and all the nobody people, and now all the WFMU people, too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm rrg:

Bless 'em all.
  3:33pm Jaune:

I, apparently, have a LOT of room :>(
  3:33pm That Bipolar Guy:

Oh crap! I forgot there was no episode of joe frank:-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm rrg:

So to speak.
  3:34pm Listening Out There:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Webhamster Henry:

Should be the theme song of the Loser's Lounge.
  3:35pm That Bipolar Guy:

I look forward to each and every episode of joe frank
  3:36pm That Bipolar Guy:

Can't wait to see the video of seven second delay
  3:36pm Jaune:

Fwank, I like your style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Webhamster Henry:

This also sounds like Oingo-Boingo. With a penguin walking through it. Maybe I should just listen to some Oingo-Boingo.
Avatar 3:44pm Droll:

WH, I always thought every Oingo Boingo song sounded the same (it's definitely the same guitar part on every song), except for "Lost Like This", which is a superbly written, scored, performed, and recorded. Impossible to believe it's on an Oingo album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Irwin:

To a man with Jan Hammer, everything sounds like Oingo Boingo.
  3:46pm Dean:

Add a good man and everything sounds Like Children.
  3:48pm Jaune:

Dean, do you mean "like chicken"?
  3:49pm Dean:

No, Jaune, children do not taste like chicken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm fleep:

More like veal.
  3:49pm Dean:

I meant children: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xffOfSwp3bM
  3:50pm Jaune:

Oh, okay, if you say so.
Avatar 3:52pm Droll:

The good drummer on the album Good God by Good God is Hank Ransome, who's other album credit is on Elizabeth by the band Elizabeth. Coincidence? I think not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm rrg:

  3:54pm Phil from UES:

Irwin, that was outstanding. Never heard Good God before. I read online among the one hit wonders a band out Austin called Master Cylinder is quite good as well.
Avatar 3:54pm Droll:

[Shrugging and gesturing to the WFMU Memory Hole]
  3:58pm That Bipolar Guy:

That's so refreshing to hear Irwin being honest on the air
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Per the 7SD newsletter e-mailed today, the method to get directions to Andy's is to e-mail Ken from this here web page - wfmu.org...
  4:02pm Jaune:

I wish I could go but I am too far away! I love Ken and Andy. I have what I think are some nuclear zingers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Irwin:

Droll: Almost a trifecta!
  4:04pm Jaune:

Irwin, I admire your courage for playing this on WFMU. Could these production values be recreated today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Irwin:

Jaune: Stimulator's a pretty good album, genre-wise. It captures the '80s zeitgeist, while having been recorded in 2004.
  4:08pm Jaune:

WTf, OMG, surprised that was recorded in 2004. I thought the song was just pretty good and dated. Sometimes I love dated. Just my opinion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Carmichael:

The Sutherland Brothers WITHOUT Quiver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Irwin:

The Sutherland Brothers BEFORE Quiver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Carmichael:

That means this is around 70-72 era?
Avatar 4:12pm Droll:

Quiver also has a self-titled album but no track named Quiver. So many close calls today!
  4:15pm grass mother:

This is making me feel like a mischievous little mouse...
  4:27pm Alison Porchnik:

I love anything owl-related, because they are really cool birds. This is a pretty good song by and about owls too.
  4:29pm Alison Porchnik:

I love James Wolf too. Thanks for the wolves and owls, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm rrg:

James Wolff's voice is so...different. Always makes me look up from whatever I'm doing.

Not that I was doing anything other than listening to the program, of course.
Avatar 4:32pm Droll:

We don't know what you're doing down there, but as you can see from the playlist image, they're working on technology to detect you doing it. You've been warned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm rrg:

I see "Earlimart" and I always think "7-11". Could that be his intention?
Avatar 4:39pm Kurt Gottschalk:

never heard this chumba cover! thanks, irwin.
Avatar 4:39pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Just star clicked this one. Love it.
  4:40pm Listening Out There:

Fye Yoo!
Avatar 4:40pm Kurt Gottschalk:

oh, looks like chumbawumba covered him!
Avatar 4:41pm Kurt Gottschalk:

aw, followed by kiss. you know i'm listening, don't you irwiny"
Avatar 4:41pm Kurt Gottschalk:

  4:41pm Listening Out There:

Always sorta liked this Stones song. The LP had the nifty hologrammic cover...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm common:

hey there, kurt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Carmichael:

And followed by Prince, Kurt ... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Irwin:

I'm in yr head, KG.
Avatar 4:42pm Kurt Gottschalk:

hi, irwinlisteners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm common:

love that stones record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm rrg:

Andy's pool is not likely open yet. But soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Carmichael:

Will Andy show everyone his masurbatorium?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm rsj:

word, best album for me. after seeing "performance" bought the album, not sure there's a connection. funny movie though, with a very-Michael Jackson-looking like Mick
  4:51pm P-90:

Seven Second Delay might not be a technical disaster today.
As they always say, "miracles CAN happen."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm common:

@rsj: i also love performance. very strange and great! mick's music video in the middle of the film is a high point for me!
  4:54pm P-90:

@ Carmichael: Those attending the picnic should insist that Andy skip the "guest masturbatorium" and show them his private, personal masturbatorium.
  4:56pm mg:

Amanda. sigh. WHY
  4:56pm Listening Out There:

It's the Third Son from the Stone, innitt?
Avatar 4:57pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Oh. my. God. It's an Amanda tornado.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I just heard that Blondie has a new 40th anniversary album. They'll be on TV tonight,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Carmichael:

Aah, I come back from the copier to find Amanda in my cubicle. Who WOULDN'T like that, I ask you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm rrg:

Hey. I'm informed that Irwin's going to be on David Garland's "Spinning on Air" on WNYC this coming Sunday. A program about Sun Ra's centenary.

Irwin hasn't mentioned it, so I will.

These are usually posted on his Web site in advance of the radio airing:

But this one isn't up there yet.
  4:59pm Laura L:

Open the windows so they don't get blown out!
  4:59pm P-90:

@ Ken: Who's got Blondie tonight? Conan? Letterman?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Irwin:

Yes, I'll be on Spinning on Air w/Michael D. Anderson (WFMU's "The Good Doctor") talking about Sun Ra and playing newly remastered masters. This Sunday 8-9pm Eastern. WNYC.org
  5:02pm Listening Out There:

I like Spinning on Air. Too bad it's not a podcast. David Diamond says it's due to copyrights. Darn rights...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Carmichael:

I saw Blondie last summer, as the official spousal unit. Really, I don't see what the big deal is. In fairness, they had the ill fortune to follow Devo, who blew the doors off of the joint.
  5:02pm Listening Out There:

Podcasts make it better for those of us on The Other Coast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm chris:

Outsider music never sounded so smooth jazzy
  5:03pm P-90:

@ DJ Irwin: With David Garland this week? Far out, Man!
I'm there! Thanks @ rrg for the 411
  5:03pm Listening Out There:

[-Listener Drops Subtle Hint to Host of Current Program-]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@P-90 - Blondie is on The Daily Show on Comedy Central tonight (11:00 - 11:30 PM Eastern).
  5:07pm Listening Out There:

Thx, P-90. I see I confused the composer with the DJ. My mistook.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm chris:

I stand corrected on the Tony Seymour track! NOT outsider music. A cool neo-beat musical collaboration. Touche Irwin! Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Carmichael:

@Ken: wouldn't ya know it, a guy from Jersey is hosting them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Irwin:

Tony recently was diagnosed with cancer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Carmichael:

Any song with whistling is a cool laid-back song.
  5:11pm P-90:

@ Ken: Thnx. That's a "get" for Jon Stewart! Like Spinning on Air scoring Irwin for Sunday!
  5:11pm Lulu:

great show today, Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Irwin:

thx looloo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm rrg:

I come here for things like this.
Avatar 5:17pm Droll:

Irwin, So, by that reasoning, ELP has the best songs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Irwin:

ELP have warehouses full of Grammies because they use a LOT OF NOTES.
Avatar 5:19pm Kurt Gottschalk:

Johnny One-Note www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Carmichael:

Soon the gypsy queen,
In a glaze of vaseline,
Will perform on guillotine,
What a scene, what a scene.
Avatar 5:21pm V Priceless:

"....somebody get me a ladder!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Irwin:

Wayne is an example of a singer who does not use a lot of notes. He has never even been NOMINATED for a Grammy.
  5:42pm Laura L:

I know what Fritos are--what's Dejados?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Carmichael:

Wayne is so cool, he doesn't need a last name. buffalotones.blogspot.com...
  5:47pm P-90:

Lemme know when Joe Frank has a BBQ for listeners at HIS house
  5:47pm berbo:

One-Note Samba kinda undermines Irwin's thesis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Irwin:

"One Note Samba" is just the title. It actually contains 16 notes. It's like "One-Hour Dry Cleaners." They don't really get you back your clothing in one hour, "It's just the name of the shop, love. We take three weeks."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Carmichael:

Will Andy have a rabbi to bless the hotdogs? Is listener John a serial killer? Will Andy's obnoxious son hog the camera?

So many questions, so few minutes.
Avatar 5:54pm still b/p:

That was music to De Beers ears.
  5:54pm berbo:

A Joe Frank BBQ would be awesome. The rabbi would be a prostitute. The hot dogs would be specially imported from Lithuania. Everybody would be compulsively talking about their careers.

I want to go to a Joe Frank BBQ.
Avatar 5:57pm Droll:

Thanks Irwin! Yet another close call with BDoD! Have a fun week, yinz!
  6:00pm P-90:

Thnx, DJ Irwin! catch you Sun. night on NPR and next week with Joe...
