"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Ask not for whom the temple bells toll. Good morning, John. Just in from early gardening in the rising sun, this is etherally perfect. Thanks so much for this surprise.

Avatar 7:10am Looms:

Is this record a VLP? (very long play)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am Wynford Eagle:

John's obviously gone to the toilet - this record is jumping man!!
  7:14am marmalade kitty:

The JA Sun ra extended remix
Avatar 7:23am Andy says hi:

Good afternoon! Just now I was happily bookmarking songs on this playlist.. Then I realized I am listening to an old show that I once downloaded.. But now I'm here and it's not bad!
  7:26am That BiPolar Guy:

This Sun Ra music was pretty good
  7:28am That BiPolar Guy:

I've only heard the name sun ra here and there but never looked into his music. That song "space probe" sounds "far out man"
  7:29am That BiPolar Guy:

Jon if you had to go? it's ok. Being diabetic I know how it feels and you really can't hold it in
Avatar 7:33am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks for this morning's sounds. Great start to the day. Gotta fly, see ya next time!
  7:41am Lucarsed:

Into this Paul Cowan but can't find any info about it - what is it?
  7:43am r080 from Prague:

yeah, I like it too, couldn't find much more than this http://www.mixedmediarecordings.com/lps/ao8tgnzqrl6vdgbb22odve457w3axv
Avatar 7:44am John Allen:

yeah, that's it.
  7:49am Lucarsed:

so good, thanks r080 and john
Avatar 7:56am bibi:

hi all. argh late today.
was that someslimguauze thing linked to muslimgauze ?
seems obvious but who knows.
Avatar 8:04am Looms:

@bibi: I don't think so, this Indian Soundscapes project was recorded between 2001 & 2003 but Bryn Jones (Muslimgauze) died in 1999.
Avatar 8:12am Cheri Pi:

G'Morning to all. Nice way to ease into this blasted Wednesday.
Avatar 8:16am bibi:

thx looms.
at least allowed me to mention muslimgauze which i just NEVER heard on wfmu...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am common:

happy humpday!
Avatar 8:31am Brian in UK:

Hello John & folks. Non stop Wednesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am Ken From Hyde Park:

I herd that Neil was on late-night TV recently. They had the old recording booth. I didn't catch the show, though.
Avatar 8:41am John Allen:

yeah the old crowd is fulla gimmicks
Avatar 8:44am bibi:

You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care.
Avatar 8:48am bibi:

im sorry but yr intro text is inspiring, so i keep reading it sometimes, like a poem. it deserves some ctrl+c.
  8:53am marmalade kitty:

tremendous show today, John!
Avatar 8:54am northguineahills:

That William Tyler was nice.

Thanks John!
  2:14pm bernardcamus:

Hey, great show! But this is not Myriam Gendron at all!
Avatar 6:44pm John Allen:

are you listening around that timestamp?
  8:48pm bernardcamus:

Yes. What is playing just before Neil Young? Great stuff (but no Gendron I assure you).
  9:47pm John Allen:

well, you seem to know her well enough to be certain. Maybe Feeding Tube duped us?
  9:59pm bernardcamus:

Feeding Tube tricksters? I know her music, she sings Dorothy Parker. But really what is playing there?
  10:05pm John Allen:

yknow, been seeing that record on "Now Playing" a couple times and was really looking forward to hearing/playing it, and that's what I did this morning. But it was a burned CD that FT sent the station, not the LP...maybe Ted sent us the wrong disc? Thanks for the tip/will investigate.
  10:39pm bernardcamus:

I actually first heard it on wfmu and got it from the digital label -- Mama bird. Somebody at the station has the right record!
