Good Morning, DJ Amanda, please say words to the effect that Martha's been sidetracked but is doing just fine? even if it's not true?

I'm bringing back my lucky marathon money avatar on Sunday.
Avatar 12:14am Whooda:

Why do you mention it PSS? Does this new avatar make my butt look fat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Amanda:

Hey hey hey to fleep, Skirkie, Whooda, pss, P-90, KP, and everyone listenin'!

P-90, Martha is doing great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am pacific standard simon:

I was going to say you look hot in drag, but then I realized that I have no idea if it IS drag...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am pacific standard simon:

Oh, and by the way, hello Amanda!
  12:19am P-90:

@Whooda: How you holding up, you old sew and sew?
("sew and sew", get it? haha)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Tome:

I was born to wear men's clothes and pee standing up except for that period of marriage when my wife trained me to sit-and-pee. My fashion statements are determined by the lowest price in the thrift store.
  12:23am P-90:

Wait, there's a MRS. Whooda? What's HER Comments handle?
lemme guess...no, better not...
Avatar 12:23am Whooda:

@Tome hehe, I get it. Holding up just fine. All is well. Thanks for the giggle.

Avatar 12:25am Whooda:

I mean P-90. Mrs. Whooda split the sheets with Mr. Whooda 18 years ago.
  12:26am P-90:

Please tell me she ran off with a hot Asian chick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am pacific standard simon:

Jeez, I hope you aren't my ex-brother-in-law.
Avatar 12:31am Whooda:

P-90 Sorry, 14 years ago. Her work was done as far as I was concerned. She told me that if I was going to quit working as an artist she wanted a divorce. Pretty unusual huh? It's normally the other way around, the women gets tired of the dysfunctional art devoted bacon deprived husband. She is as unusual as I.
  12:32am V Priceless:

Wow! Strawbs! This set is off the charts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am Amanda:

sanks :-)
  12:35am V Priceless:

Great talent, Dave Lambert. Very underrated.
  12:38am P-90:

So, you're saying she ran off with a hot Jamaican chick?

I'm from the Big City, old chap, so I've heard that version of the story, she saw herself with an artist, no matter how fraught with complications and uncertainties that might be. A more common dynamic (in some precincts) than you might think.
But have you gone ahead and done some art, o.k. , Art, in the years since? Without any pressure to meet her expectations?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am pacific standard simon:

  12:42am P-90:

Hey gang, that reminds me, when IS the next "WFMU Quiche Night"? I subscribe to the Meetups alerts, but my spam folder usually intercepts them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Skirkie:

Martha? God, I haven't been paying attention at ALL.
Avatar 12:45am Whooda:

I still love and respect her, she saved my sanity, taught me how to love and guided me to success as an artist. Am born and will die an artist. I only 'checked-out' of the competitive, recognition seeking version of creativity.

She ran off with a hot blond haired blue eyed Russian internet mail order chick. I wish. She hooked up with a fat bank officer at first but remains unmarried. We may end up together again. Can t be sure until she starts talking to me again. I do regret gifting her my Smith and Wesson nickle plated 357 magnum. That was foolish.
Avatar 12:50am Whooda:

Your're really tickling my ears DJ Amanda Nazario.
  12:50am P-90:

@Whoo: ok, enough kidding around, no way am I gonna believe this fantasy about a "fat bank officer".
And c'mon, doesn't she need that piece a lot more than you do? (The S&W, not the Russian blonde ...) [rolls eyes like Groucho]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Amanda:

@Skirkie, I myself kept being like, "OK, so I'll go to the station on Sunday night at... WAIT!"
Avatar 12:54am Whooda:

ahahaha P-90. She's a hot Italian blooded thing with an Argentinian sense of justice. While married she took to carrying the piece around only to pull it on a driver who got too close to her and the baby while she was riding the three-wheel bike.
  12:55am V Priceless:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am fleep:

Hear that crackling in the grooves? Tiny bits of weed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am Amanda:

I'm just holding it for a friend.
Avatar 12:57am Whooda:

@fleep A case of the seeds and static blues?
  12:58am V Priceless:

  12:58am P-90:

That album did have a nice cover, as I recall. Gatefold?
Avatar 12:59am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

AmNazz ! Great.
...need to get horizontal & wait for my cold meds to let me sleep - but I'l stay tuned
...Amanda: Hence the Fudge track - 'Take Me for a Little While'...
  12:59am Stevel:

An Amanda surprise! So much for sleep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am pacific standard simon:

They say that paper money is usually coated with cocaine residue, so I suppose you could grind up that vinyl, roll it in a benjamin, and smoke it to good effect.
  1:00am Danne D:

Hi Amanda and everyone :) So happy to get to hear your show on my drive home tonight Amanda. Just wonderful :)
  1:01am P-90:

Ahhhh....the classic freeform 1am Fudge-Andrews segue. So soothing, keep em coming
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am pacific standard simon:

Aren't ALL Andrews Sisters records rarities, these days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Amanda:

Good point, pss... P-90, this one isn't a gatefold, but I have another one that is, it's black with kind of rainbow-y writing, very far-out
Avatar 1:02am Whooda:

@PSS I suspect more than just one or two copies of Bulge Boy of Company B was pressed.
  1:03am P-90:

Funny how those Andrews Sisters disks never have the veggie crackles in the grooves, wrong musical style period I guess
Avatar 1:04am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Bulge ? Press ? Is this how y'all talk @ night here - ?...Depends on which Jazz musicians you knew P-90...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am pacific standard simon:

No, they were warped in ovens to make candy dishes for Martha Stewart's green room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am fleep:

I thought Bulge Boy was who she hooked up with.
Avatar 1:07am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ella Mae Morse is a fun one for that transitional place twixt Swing & R&B...Is that a Smith & Wesson - or are you just happy to see me...
Avatar 1:07am Whooda:

I suppose Bugle Boy dreamed of having EVERONE in his jeans.
Avatar 1:08am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...he had that crazy riddum...
  1:08am P-90:

@Rab" I KNEW you were not going to let that go by without the "blowing tea with the Negro Jazzbos in the alley" disclaimer. Patty and Laverne, yes. Maxine, never, "made her think about death and get too dizzy." Preferred a couple stiff Sidecars after the show. And before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Fuzzy:

I love my Bulge Boy jeans! They make me stand out in any crowd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am pacific standard simon:

I battled the Germans in my Bulge Jeans!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am Amanda:

Cool, Danne D! Glad to finally be a part of drive-time radio.
  1:11am Danne D:

Pretenders :)

Honestly AmNazz your show is always just so right.
  1:11am JakeGould:

Nice show! This dates me, but this Pretenders really reminds me of high school in the 1970s.
Avatar 1:11am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- well - Ed Wood did D-Day in drag...
...seriously - I'm sure the Andrew Sisters knew about Tea...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am pacific standard simon:

Funny how the start of "Up The Neck" sounds just like "Public Image".
Avatar 1:11am Whooda:

Can't never have too much Pretenders.
  1:11am P-90:

@pss: I heard the staff kept stealing those collectible BB BugleBoy ashtrays from the green room, Martha cornered the market replacing them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am Amanda:

@Jake, that is awesome to hear. I didn't go to school in the 70s, but I often wish I had.
Avatar 1:13am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- no you don't.
  1:14am JakeGould:

I never went to high school in the 1970s either. Class of 1986 here! Remember: Classic rock was all up in your business in the 1980s.
  1:15am JakeGould:

And I just realized I wrote 1970s when I meant 1980s. I need to understand maths betters.
Avatar 1:16am Whooda:

High school in the '70's was CIA supplied drugs, and Dark Side of the Moon. Not a bad package.
Avatar 1:17am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

..wull - hello/goodbye - sleepytime - don't make my dreams *too* weird - a little is fine...okay - before the war on drugs - panama red - &tc. ...
  1:18am JakeGould:

Whooda. WD-40/Duct-Tape? Is gone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am Fuzzy:

K I S S and Ritalin and Boston and Heart and more Ritalin! And Jox by Thom McCann!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am pacific standard simon:

High school music, ew. "American Pie", "Horse With No Name", etc. The school band played a horn-heavy "Them Changes".
Avatar 1:19am Whooda:

Yea, trying out a new look Jake. P-90 insinuated the new avatar makes my butt look fat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am pacific standard simon:

I think we meant to say that it looks like ass.
  1:22am P-90:

@Fuzzy: and Zeppelin and Nugent and Tull and Aerosmith and "Aqualung"!
and Frampton Comes Alive and "Funky Town" by Lipps INC.
Avatar 1:22am Whooda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am pacific standard simon:

You will murder them all, Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am Tome:

Rolling stones I'll never forget had a record "sucking in the 70's" and truth be told I thought most NOT all bands that sounded "good" on record in the 70's ,, sucked big time live ,,,
Avatar 1:24am Whooda:

I still remember exactly where I was the first time my friend Bobby played Framton Comes Alive for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am pacific standard simon:

I went to Jr. High with D.J. Bonebrake, but he was still a decade away from being awesome.
  1:25am P-90:

and Thai Sticks and Mauie Wowie and Quaaludes! Oh yeah, and The Tubes
  1:25am V Priceless:

Sounds a bit like early Mott sans organ.
Avatar 1:26am Whooda:

P-90 your mentioning all the sweet spots that describe the 70's. Yeah!
  1:26am JakeGould:

Your new avatar looks like you have chamber pot issues.
Avatar 1:28am Whooda:

I suppose that machine treadle might cause a bit of constipation issue. Especially when sewing heavy fabrics.
  1:28am P-90:

And there was wrinkle in time in the mid-'70s when EVERY prom-- junior, senior, middle-school, whatever, EVERYWHERE, had the '"Moondance" theme. EVERY one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am fleep:

I'm thinking steganography. Something hidden in the woodcut grooves. A message for a spy! THUNDERBALL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am Tome:

A - TOM - ic Jones ,, I can just see that cover now at the Record Fair hehe
  1:30am P-90:

This John Barry/Tom Jones classic reminds me I have an appointment with my urologist next Tues. I'd forgotten
  1:30am V Pricelessi:

I need a Martini
Avatar 1:31am Whooda:

A-TOM-ic Jones offers an exploding load and leaves you burning for days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am fleep:

Doctor Thunderball will see you now ...
  1:32am JakeGould:

Okay, now the Billy Squier is really making me feel like I am drinking wine coolers in 1987 while docking around on a Friday night. Good taste, lady.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am pacific standard simon:

Drink more cranberry juice.
  1:32am coalhard:

did you guys see Putin's men beat up PUSSY RIOT----If I lived on space station I would close bulkhead to Russian side and squeeze oxy tube just a little bit
  1:32am P-90:

@fleep: you'd never believe what his cute receptionist's name is
  1:33am Danne D:

gonna lie down now so I'll be off the chat but thanks for such great music Amanda :) Hope to see you around the station for the marathon :)

good night everyone!
  1:33am JakeGould:

I do drink cranberry juice now.
  1:33am Dr Greebler:

Wow. And I just walked by a bar band playing On The Loose by Saga. Did we go back in time 30 years. Whoa.

Avatar 1:34am Whooda:

That guitar from Billy Squier sounds just like Fog Hat.
  1:36am JakeGould:

Billy Squire is the best shoeless guitarist from the 1980s.
  1:36am JakeGould:

Also, Billy Squier.
  1:36am P-90:

@Whoo: every guitar on any B. Squire album sounded like something else, he was very derivative
  1:37am JakeGould:

I always wonder how much money he made off of “Big Beat” being sampled.
  1:39am JakeGould:

Is this the song at the right speed? Sleep for me.
  1:40am V Pricelessi:

Yes!! It sounds cool!
  1:40am P-90:

By Jove, it WAS better before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am pacific standard simon:

You do that often enough to make one wonder if you really are sorry!
  1:43am Pelt:

It sounded pretty good at the wrong speed, perhaps better than at "the correct" speed
Avatar 1:43am Whooda:

@Colehard I did see that attack on Pussy Riot. Earlier in the week the two main girls and others with them were arrested in Sochi for purse theft, a false charge later dropped.
  1:43am P-90:

@DJ A. : pss got your number there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am Amanda:

Well, I am a LITTLE sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am pacific standard simon:

I'd like a little paper umbrella with this number.
  1:48am P-90:

@Whhoozit: The "two main girls" in P.Riot? What are there alternates? Understudies? (Understudskis?)

WOW: "Over the Waves" the tune everybody from everywhere knows, but no one ever knows that title. If they have a name for it at all, they call it "George Washington Bridge"
Avatar 1:50am Whooda:

@P-90 I mean the two that were imprisoned but released early in a PR stunt by Putin to make him look good before the Olympics started. Their names are tortuously hard to spell.
  1:51am JakeGould:

I like this Simpsons talk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am Skirkie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am Skirkie:

"Pokolenia Iks" = Generation X
Avatar 2:08am Whooda:

Can you blame a Billy Squire record from not wanting to go back into that forgotten hole of a record sleeve? Like a cat over a tub of water I suppose.
  2:08am P-90:

@joeray: is there a recording of that FZ performance at Providence? The story about Goulet sounds familiar
  2:10am P-90:

Amanda, the Mac does the clean-up automatically unless you move a lot of big files like videos. RevRabbit ran across this issue with his cumputter.

@Whoodini: Au contrere, my friend, hard-core Mac geeks and Mac professionals alike agree on MacKeeper:

  2:37am Pelt:

sst (no shite)
Avatar 2:38am Whooda:

P-90 I don't disagree with you on that, but if a freeware was available I would choose that before paying for a defrag app.
  2:44am P-90:

But at present there is no freeware that works as well. Sure we love the idea of freeware on principle, but sometimes there isn't freeware that does what a good piece of professionally designed commercial "product" does.
For DJ Amanda's purposes, the basic version of MacKeeper sold on Apple's own App site will certainly do what she needs it to. (And remember, Apple is VERY careful about the apps they market on their own site, and guarantee.)

Yes I just read that what Apple offers is a stripped down version of Mackeeper and less likely to have malware because it is vetted by Apple. I believe there is free defrag apps for Apple. I know nothing about Apple though.

Awwwww, we had a very good experience too, @DJ Amanda.
I for one will make an effort to stop by the regular Scenario when you're on live to say "Hi!"
Thanks again, enjoy the Marathon (Ho ho ho)
