it would be a chic acessory for amEdeo's show, bring attention to the station, and give Pussy Riot a boost just when they're transitioning back from celebrated dissident darlings of the gulag to the brutally unforgiving pop music market

Avatar 3:43am fred von helsing:

KISS came to Buffalo to print some KISS comics. They were on the news pricking their fingers to squeeze drops of blood into the ink mixer. "Made with real KISS blood!". No lie.
  3:46am P-90:

Its such a cool song, somebody should want to record a cover, do a good deed for the Fun 91.
Hmm, wouldnt it be cool if Sean Lennon and that eight-foot-tall girlfriend of his did a Hocus Pocus cover for amEdeo
  3:49am P-90:

@Fred: I remember that! Was that in Buffalo? The ink in each copy of the comic supposedly contained a tiny fraction of Kissblood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49am Matt from Springfield:

Reminds me of Dion's "Drip Drop"--old song, but check that out sometime for the vocal rhythms.

Avatar 4:31am amEdeo:

What's this about Easy Bake ovens?! I wanted one as a small boy!
Avatar 4:33am fred von helsing:

EasyBakes were pretty cool. They should have had a scene in Mad Max where they generate electricity long enough to cook Max a birthday cakelet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Matt from Springfield:

Ahhhhhhhh, better land this plane into bed before I crash into one of my dreams (again!!)

Good night amEdeo and friends!
Remember to buy a mattress tomorrow! It's what Geo. Washington gave his life to protect!
  4:36am P-90:

@amEdeo: me too! Did you get the speech about how boys are supposed to want catcher's mitts and chemistry sets instead of little pink ovens?
Avatar 4:37am Whooda:

EZ bake ovens roared until they were forced to install lower wattage bulbs, then it wasn't hot enough to cook right, but at least they stopped erupting into plastic fueled flames.

anyway, all you had to do was pop a 70 watter in that puppy and go to town.
Avatar 4:37am amEdeo:

Yes! A happy mattress day to us all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38am Matt from Springfield:

Fortunately they (finally!) came out with a gender-neutral white EasyBake, so you can have fun without worrying about the hot pink color and its implications on your own sense of gender.
Avatar 4:38am fred von helsing:

I had a chem set too. Lionel brand. Shoulda gone for synergy with the EasyBake. Baseball equipment is for idiots who actually like competitive sports.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar 4:45am Whooda:

I probably asked for an EZ Bake but was certainly rebuffed by parents. I can almost remember it. Anyhow, I got a creepy crawler oven instead and used it to cast lead in it instead of the plastic goo. good times.
Avatar 4:45am amEdeo:

is that an EasyBake oven in your psyche or are you just upset to see me?
Avatar 4:46am fred von helsing:

@Whooda Cool!! I had an Incredible Edibles instead, man that stuff tasted weird.
Avatar 4:47am fred von helsing:

Is that EasyBake(TM) cake mix in your pants or is it... uh... I don't wanna know
  4:47am P-90:

@amEdeo: "Guided Nightmare" looks AWEsome!
Did you do the cover art yourself?
Q: How can I get one of my very own? I can't wait to hear it. Is it on RapidShare or SendSpace? Yet?
Please oh please tell me how I can get my very own "Guided Nightmare" to enjoy in the comfort and privacy of my own home!
Avatar 4:47am Whooda:

Yes as I remember the Incredible Edibles was the Creepy Crawler except with edible goo. I never tasted one though.
Avatar 4:50am fred von helsing:

I also had a Vacu-Form and that was a lot of fun. Of course you can't sell them now because it's officially OK for kids to be stupid over-helicoptered dumbasses who grow up to be fucktarded morons with zero common sense.
Avatar 4:51am amEdeo:

@P-90: I did indeed make the art for it, ALL WILL BE NEXT WEEK. And BELIEVE ME when I say, this is just THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG of what I have in store for everyone premium-wise.

THE TIP!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 4:55am fred von helsing:

Avatar 4:55am amEdeo:

something in here smells like bananas, is it me?
  4:55am P-90:

I had the Creepy Crawlers (actually the little oven itself was called The Thing Maker) and also the Increfible Edibles. Then you could get additional molds for both, and they came out with glow in the dark goop for Creepy Crawlers (probably carcinogenic) and cool new flavors for tne incredible edibles, I remember for years they had new accesories and refills for those, at Rappoport's enormous toy store on 3rd Ave
Avatar 4:56am fred von helsing:

incredible edibles might explain my brain tumours, the ones that add extra wfmu listening pleasure

Avatar 4:58am BadGuyZero:

When I was a kid I was terrified of Colorforms because I thought that they were what bad guys in movies used to make people take naps.
Avatar 4:59am Whooda:

DJ AmEdeo it's interesting to hear how each DJ defines that smell differently in Studio B. I have heard it described as 'faintly cheetos' in character.
Avatar 5:00am BadGuyZero:

Maybe Daddy Long Legs is pumping banana-scented chloroform into the studio via the I Heart Radio app.
Avatar 5:00am amEdeo:

Ahahahaha, I was scared of Colorforms but for a different reason. I associated them with weird nightmare realms. Abstract geometric shapes frozen in empty black space. At least, that's what the box looked like to me.
Avatar 5:01am Whooda:

I just read the Wikipages for Thingmaker, creepycrawler and Vacuform, EZ bake, etc. fred, it sounds like the vacu-form was a cool toy.
Avatar 5:01am BadGuyZero:

Which studio is Studio B? I'm trying to recall if I've been in that one.
Avatar 5:01am fred von helsing:

Actually the chem set should have had SOME warning. I lit a chunk of sulfur on fire and then took a DEEP snork. Man was THAT a mistake. Anyways I learned an important lesson: If something smells like sulfur, be very careful about inhaling it...
Avatar 5:02am Whooda:

amEdeo that cover art really is excellent. The typesetting is wonderful
Avatar 5:02am nah:

So glad to have been turned on to Angel Olsen by you WFMUs!
  5:03am P-90:

apparently lead exposure gave Whooda a head start as a music fan too

YOU had the Mattel Vacu-Form kit!? I remember that for some reason it was hard to find, my friends all wanted one too, only one of them got it I think, we were all jealous
I think it was only available for a short time and got pulled from the market? Then you needed supplies for it to keep using it and those were hard to find, you had to write to Mattel and order them or something
Avatar 5:03am fred von helsing:

@whooda Hey yeah the wikipedia page is pretty OK
Avatar 5:04am Whooda:

fred, that's why I moved on to making model cars, the huffing was sooo much improved over platicgoo. the model glue. spray paint and thinner...
Avatar 5:05am fred von helsing:

@p90 Yup refills came from the factory but of course they had a USA factory. Nowadays American companies are just factory outlets for Chinese stuff and customer services is a quaint memory of pre-Reagan times.
Avatar 5:05am fred von helsing:

@whooda Hell yeah, many ways to get buzzed and who the hell needs ventilation :-P
Avatar 5:05am BadGuyZero:

I looked at the adoption gallery. I have been in B. That's the submarine!
Avatar 5:06am fred von helsing:

  5:06am P-90:

Jeesus I huffed a shitload of that stuff, model airplane glue, paints, the whole deal, no wonder I keep losing my keys
Avatar 5:07am Whooda:

Toulene is my true love. That shit is a contact high. I used it in silkscreen printing for days on end.
Avatar 5:09am Whooda:

It's funny that some hobby shops and hardware stores keep the model glue and spray paints behind lock and key like ammunition.
Avatar 5:09am fred von helsing:

Avatar 5:12am Whooda:

I seem to have been drawn to the trades with the best volatile chemicals: wood finishing with Watco danish oil, printing with its myriad of chemicals to choose from, automotive painting with wicked lacquers and enamels.
  5:13am P-90:

Now I gotta check out the Vacu-Form wiki. I remember the one or two boys who had it complaining about sending money to Mattel for little sheets of plastic snd stuff, because stores didnt carry those refills, then waiting months and months for the stuff to come in the mail
I also remember wondering if it was particularly hard to get in New York City, it seemed like more kids in the suburbs got it
Avatar 5:13am fred von helsing:

The modern rite-of-passage shuld lock a boy (or kid) in a room with a chem set and glues and X-acto knives and model supplies and rocket engines and shit and the challenge is to have fun and do something cool that gets points from the panel of neighborhood judges without hurting yourself in an permanent way.
Avatar 5:13am Whooda:

Because it smells good!

Avatar 5:27am fred von helsing:

@BGZ yeah I think it's a Kenner set I'm thinking of. Plastic sheets with rows of holes to snap over lines of pins on structural elements. In theory wobbly, but in practice pretty OK.
Avatar 5:29am Whooda:

Those old violent Looney Tunes are even better today through the perspective of contemporary mush that is "politically correct'

And: Meccano was/is the SHIT!
it sas real expensive, so we all got erector sets instead because with either one you were gonna need a lot of it to do anything interesting, and Meccano was from EUROPE and was hard to get and pricey, back in those Jonny Quest boyhood days

I had a big Lionel Erector Set and it made some cool stuff but I think Meccano is the superior medium for building anti-riot-police attack robots.
Avatar 5:33am fred von helsing:

For one thing, Meccano has superior propulsion elements.

You will see much less of me this marathon.

Avatar 5:37am fred von helsing:

But Meccano is too heavy for flying robots. There's no cool modular building kit for those yet I guess cos the power-to-weight situation is still very borderline.

WFMU should have a marathon quadcopter navigating the hallways with a camera. It would be a geek hit. And it could haul DJ kibble.
Avatar 5:44am fred von helsing:

Flutes OK. Got harp ? Harps are tops.
Avatar 5:45am amEdeo:

OooOooo. I am already talking to people about doing a secondary BEHIND-THE-SCENES feed in tandem with my main video feed. Maybe someone can get a copter to attach that camera to! WHO KNOWS.

But to be honest, it'll probably be handheld.
  5:46am P-90:

You couldnt get or even see everything on the internet, even catalogs for some of these things were prized items, read reread and passed from kid to kid. And there were a few big stores that had all this cool stuff, from all over the world, FAO Shwarz was this Mecca of exotica, and there was another store in NY called Polk's where they had all the balsa wood plane kits and incredibly detailed Japanese model kits of every different model of American and German tanks, planes, ships from WWII and Korea, and those balsa and paper model rockets with the gunpowder-filled paper engines etc, and then the gas-powered model planes with the wickedly loud tiny engines, and the the radio-controlled stuff which was staggeringly high-tech, AT the time...
Avatar 5:47am fred von helsing:

But trying to make an .049 run reliably was always a pain. I never saw any of the monster engines run (.60 etc.)
Avatar 5:49am Whooda:

Hey you could do the action-cam like they do in the big sports venues. Run a clothes line down the hall just above head level and attach a shower curtain hook to someones Iphone and sling it down the clothes line real fast. But it will probably go flying off of the clothes line and smack someone in the face. LET"S DO IT!
Avatar 5:52am fred von helsing:

You could also just get a remote control big truck and put an iPhone on that. It could roam whatever floor is on the air. And haul DJ kibble.
Avatar 5:53am amEdeo:

Ahahahahaha, THAT SOUNDS LIKE MY KIND OF CAMERA! Vio-Cam: The Cam That Hits Back!
  5:53am P-90:

I think there are little drones availble now that carry little vid cameras and fly in hallways, etc.
Not exactly Broadcast Quality, but...
I love that Ed MacMahon introduction clip from when Beonce was on Star Search! I wish I coulda been there when Ed was coached on how to say each of the girl's names correctly
Avatar 5:53am Whooda:

Vio goes viral!
Avatar 5:53am fred von helsing:

But you could have TruckCam: The Entertainment Vehicle that looks up your dress !
  5:56am P-90:

and she lost
an early setback for my girl B
  5:56am ?:

hi all. yeah cam drones are on sale (and quite cheap) but you can end up in jail if used in public space. this happened to a high school boy in my hometown... france can look like north corea sometimes.
  5:58am P-90:

you're right, human cam operators is the way to go
what format(s) are you planning to shoot on?
Avatar 5:59am fred von helsing:

Probably a WFMU R/C truck should have a nerf rocket launcher for assaulting Ken and other targets of opportunity
Avatar 5:59am Whooda:

Good morning all and great Monday!
