Options Brian Turner: Playlist from February 4, 2014 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

John Morton   Interview w/BT in the WFMU Studio   Options     Aside from wearing a safety-pin-riddled, torn-up jean jacket in 1971 and playing soon after in the pioneering Cleveland punk band Electric Eels, John Morton is an accomplished visual artist and has also been part of bands like The Styrenes, Amoeba (Raft Boy), Johnny and The Dicks, and a number of other outfits. One of them was X___X, who put out two 45's on Drome Records and played out four times with drummer Anton Fier, later of The Feelies, and Golden Palominos. With Finland's Ektro label about to reissue a retrospective disc of X___X, Morton stops by Brian's show today for a chat on that band's legacy and whatever else he's been up to lately.

hey Brian, I think you might not have your playlist set to Live/Accu - I'm not getting song info in my player, and I don't see it at the top of the playlist either.

Avatar 4:38pm Whooda:

@Cheri I am SO SORRY I'm late. I left early but had a flat tire, I mean TWO flat tires...in the snow, when I was ran off the road by some anonomous numskull. Damnit! But I walked here in the snow, even though my shoes were lost in the wreck, luckily my car drove itself out of the ditch and beat me here and amazingly it's ok, not a scratch! Lucky us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Carmichael:

Hiya peoples. Just hanging around, waiting to go to the dentist.
Avatar 4:40pm Whooda:

Hey DJ Jonathan Herweg, cool that the jobs keep coming, and now filming national secret stuff...cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Santos L Halper:

@glenn 3:56: good for the Puppies. And as if the torture wasn't bad enough by, they Gitmo crew gotta get all cutesy and pseudo-ironic about it? Killing in the Name? We are the Champions? Barney?! Sheesh.
  4:45pm P-90:

Hey,@ Carmichael! Hi to all, I'm just lurking softly.
@Cheri Pi: Hi! Is it still your birthday, is it your birthday again, or am I just more confused than ever?
@Brian Turner: Good sounds! Been enjoying since the top of the hour
Avatar 4:51pm Whooda:

@Carmichael when your're at the dentist do what I do, ask the dentist to show images of Sienfelds teeth instead of your own, I don't know about you, but it makes me feel a lot better.
  4:52pm P-90:

"Dental Seinfeld-Vision"
  4:55pm P-90:

@Whoodie: Hey! 'zzup? Do you need to wear a special pair of glasses for that Seinfeld Teeth thing to work, like 3D?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm common:

good to hear this. thanks brian and john!
Avatar 4:59pm Whooda:

P-90 No special glasses needed, the hard part is convincing the dentist to do it for me. He still tells me I have lots of rotten choppers anyway. I think the dentist thinks its just a big waste of time for him:)
Avatar 4:59pm glenn:

ignore donald trump. he's a moron of the first order.
5:05pm From the desk of:The Esteemed Donald Trump:

Hey, watch it Pal. Whatkind of a moron uses a forum like this to call someone he's never even met names like that?
Please, let's not have a problem here, I'm just enjoying my old buddy Johnny Morton and some hot trax. Iassume you are too, so peace out, fella.

Avatar 5:51pm glenn:

i can't see it, but there are a lot of stupid people who buy into his schtick. also, chances are pretty good he's going to be arrested for conspiracy to commit murder soon, so that should put a kibosh on things.
Avatar 5:54pm Lopez:

Late to the game today but will hit the archive to catch up. Rock on!
Avatar 5:57pm Sem Chumbo:

Thanks for that good news, don't read the TO papers and never listen to English CBC. Espace Musique only: the news is always so some much more pleasant in French.
