Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It is a very good sound indeed.
  12:28am
P-90:

I like this. It's very modestly celestial.

Tome:

quiet here too , only the sounds and "atmosphere"s of your show, always a nice surprise Jeff .

Longtime Listener:

Hi I'm just tuning in. This sounds a lot like something you would hear in that film 2001:a space odyssey
Avatar 1:14am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It sounds like the last thing you'll ever hear
  1:16am
Longtime Listener:

We'll:( a person like myself is somewhat hard of hearing. So? Who knows? I could go completely deaf at anytime
  1:20am
P-90:

For some reason I usually love things that incorporate "radio chatter" sounds.

P-90:

You can't understand what's being said if you don't speak the language, but being aware of the context makes it really spooky
Avatar 1:27am
jeff-m:

same, especially if non-english

whoops, comment overlap

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P-90: I recommend THX-1138...with such sounds acting as the precursor to sounds used in Star Wars.
(And treated in my sound collage in tribute to the 1971 sound artist: lastever.org...)
  1:51am
P-90:

i'm actually a huge THX fan, have been forever. I can always startle Star Wars geeks by arguing that it could be considered the very best movie George Lucas has made. Thanks for the link to the archive, of course I've followed Murch's career closely as well, so that program will be a special treat. I'm sure you know that Murch continues to be a trusted all-around creative consultant to Lucas and Coppola as well, not just on sound, on everything. His collages for THX were truly avant guarde, very hip, witty and ahead of their time--particularly for a big-studio commercially released movie.
  1:54am
P-90:

I see the show is from 2004, and includes MP3 for dial-up modems!
Avatar 1:59am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I've got some other shows with sounds of dial-up modems.
Avatar 2:01am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

My very last show sampled Walter Murch's one and only directed film, Return to Oz. (wfmu.org...)
  2:01am
P-90:

I was just thinking: dial-up modems themselves make some pretty cool lo-fi, "8 bit" sounds...
Avatar 2:03am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

G'night, off to dream of the past future...
Meet back here for a screening of the laserdisc version of THX-1138, the closest available thing to the original.
Avatar 2:05am
jeff-m:

later man. thanks for hanging out
  2:10am
P-90:

@Kenzo: thanks again, see you soon on one of these data streams...
@Jeff M.: I'm here for the duration, rock on
Avatar 2:16am
northguineahills:

This is good sound! Thanks!
  2:39am
P-90:

@ Jeff M.: reminiscent of Wendy Carlos' Full Metal Jacket tracks, no?
Avatar 2:43am
jeff-m:

have to confess- I don't know them. Will find them and take a listen when i get home. Or perhaps tomorrow.
  2:47am
P-90:

There are brief snippets of music she did for the Kubrick movie that have a similar "shakuhachi flute and bending metals" sound
  2:51am
P-90:

There's a prticular cue that's heard several times in the movie, I think you can probably find the trailer for the movie, it's prominent in that too
Avatar 2:54am
jeff-m:

cool, thank you. is your name for the p-90 guitar pickup by chance?
  2:57am
P-90:

Yeah, I used to type in different names, just whatever came into my head, the pickup thing stuck--you know what classic little piece of tech those were, lots of character
  2:59am
P-90:

Thanks, catch you later I'm sure
Avatar 3:00am
jeff-m:

yeah , great pickups.

thx for listening
Avatar 12:36am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):
