It seems like British humor has become less wildly ridiculous since the 60's. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Now Japan is the wildly ridiculous one but in a cheaper way. Much like the Japanese business model for electronics.

...It became the thing for Brit comedians (& comic actors, what have you) to define themselves *in contrast* to Monty Python - just like it's trendy to say you hate The Beatles in music - yerknow, what's nerdier than liking the Goon Show - even though it's the roots of everything...Obviously it's Generational too...
...In Japan you can have pedophile S&M Manga - whatever - but they can't show genitals in their porn I hear (?); wonder if that's changed by now maybe...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...there's also the idea that as a Yank of a certain age - I got my ideas of England from only the *byproducts* of their Repression, that is, the reactions to it - TheWh♂, Python, Pistols - which gives one a skewed image of the place...Don't know Dad'sArmy - don't have BBCAmerica cable or such - I'm sure I'd like it...I think it may be that BritCom is just *smarter*, let's face it...

Earth is alright:

Just for shits and giggles I Wipedia'd Aileen Wuornos and discovered we do have something in common: "On May 20, 1981, Wuornos was arrested in Edgewater, Florida" I was arrested by Edgewater cops two years later. Edgewater cops were real jerk-offs back then for sure. There're probably the one's who set her off.
