Is that your polar bear outside, Joe?
Avatar 9:09am Joe McG:

@Brian: Yep. He should have his vortex with him. Just feed him something and he won't hurt anybody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- bears - again ??
Avatar 9:10am Brian in UK:

Guess you would prefer Republican but they do need a lot of seasoning.
Avatar 9:11am Brian in UK:

Our youngest daughter was born with a caul, just saying.
Avatar 9:13am Joe McG:

@Brian: Does she still wear it?
Avatar 9:16am Brian in UK:

Removed at birth. Not unusual but not that common either. Not really an attractive feature!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am DCE:

whoa, jam band alert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...okay - it's not my playlist - they're still goin' ...
Avatar 9:18am Joe McG:

@Brian: It translates into "helmet head" from the Latin. Great band name!
  9:20am EvoIsHot:

Choogle much?

A caul suggests one is destined for greatness, according to legend. Cian N. was born with one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- useful in a polarvortex ? But I suppose *it* would have to stay warm as well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am YETI BOB:

I love this Cian Nugent track. THE GUITAR IS BACK!!
Avatar 9:22am Joe McG:

Thanks for the info, EIH. See, Brian? Your daughter will be a great one. She'll be answering the caul. (sorry)

Avatar 9:27am Joe McG:

Thanks, Mark, it sounded good to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am Guido (Cologne):

There were tradutuions to nit the Caul-skin into the clothes, as kind of talisman.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am DCE:

I love Cate Le Bon!

Great Shit Baby!
  10:10am earrie:

Rise and stretch. Nice set.
  10:11am P-90:

Wasn't there a hard-boiled private eye named "Sex Hunter"? Wait, was there a movie called "Will Success Spoil Sex Hunter?" No, that's not right either...
Avatar 10:12am Chris M.:

thanks for playing my request, Joe!
Avatar 10:13am Joe McG:

@P-90: Ha! I wish they'd thought of that for the series. It's hard to beat "Girl Boss Guerilla," IMHO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am SM Ken:

By the way, the transmitter work for today has been rescheduled.
  10:15am P-90:

"Sex Hunt" with Lloyd Bridges? No, I think that was "Sea Hunt"
Avatar 10:15am Joe McG:

@Chris: You love that machine animal music.
Avatar 10:15am Joe McG:

Thanks for the news, Ken!
  10:16am Jeff Bridges:

"Sex Hunt" was something I pitched.
  10:19am P-90:

@Jeff B. : You were probably considered a little too young for that kind of, er, "spin-off" at the time
Avatar 10:20am Joe McG:

@Jeff B: I loved you in "Last Picture Show." Er, oops!
  10:21am Jeff Bridges:

Florence Henderson showed me the ropes.

Can someone tell me why I always get left out of these discussions? Actually, Dad, Geoffrey and I did pitch a show called "Bridges of Madison County", but that asshole Clint had that sewed up already
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am DCE:

really digging these here groovy grooves. It's a mind-healer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am DCE:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Matt F:

This Joe Higgs track is killing me! Thanks Joe.
Avatar 10:28am βrian:

Ruggy music. Please hold ...
  10:29am Beau Bridges:

Clint Eastwood, by the way. Not Clint Howard. That kid was always just as talented as his more-famous brother, and a real sweetheart, great guy, really
Avatar 10:30am Roberto:

Wow, not usually into Reggae, but that Joe Higgs track is sweet. Thought it was Procol Harum at first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am DCE:

@ Roberto, I thought it was Traffic!
  10:32am P-90:

There's a thought: what if Procol Harem cut a reggae album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am steve:

theyre still playing the *exact* same stuff at the Loft today, its like a time warp to the early 80s which was itself making a serious effort to be a timewarp to the mid 70s. good times.
Avatar 10:35am Chris M.:

Avatar 10:40am Whooda:

Station Manger Ken, now the transmitter technician has got a new time slot too?!? How am I supposed to remember all these time changes? My brain hurts *hard palm slaps to forehead*
  10:40am P-90:

@steve: you're right! Night after night there are mediocre new bands playing that 80's-70's-80' kind of sound on Letterman, Kimmel, etc.
Guess the A &R crowd thinks it's the next big thing. Again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Mike Noble:

good morning. i recently saw an exuma LP on display in new orleans. price tag read $90. quite surprising.
Avatar 10:41am northguineahills:

Wow, and Exuma I haven't heard before!
Avatar 10:42am northguineahills:

*and = an*
Avatar 10:43am Joe McG:

@Mike: Exuma is pretty desirable. Good LPs all. I think my favorite is "Snake." @ngh: I was happy to find this one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Mike Noble:

I believe it, but also a frequent (inadvertent?) dollar bin dweller.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Guido (Cologne):

I never quite got a picture about what kind of group Exuma is.
Recently bought "Life". It is a bit lame.
But supidly enough I messpelled the title and expected a "Live"-album.

Paperback-Country is nice!
Avatar 10:46am βrian:

"E-book writer?"
Avatar 10:47am Joe McG:

@Mike: If you get lucky, pick one up! Exuma I, II, and Snake are all great.
Avatar 10:50am Brian in UK:

Think if he spells Everlee like this he might make a go of it.
Avatar 10:50am northguineahills:

There actually is a Sweet Grass County, Montana.
Avatar 10:52am Joe McG:

@ngh: Seems to make Phil lonesome for the city. Wonder what it's like out there. Any Montana listeners?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Mike Noble:

Amazingly I still have my receipt for Exuma I. $10 on ebay 8 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Mike East:

Loved that Cian Nugent and the Cosmos track you started out with today. I gotta check them out.
Good morning all!

Avatar 10:55am Chris M.:

totally don't recognize this Mr. Bungle track. is it a demo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Mike Noble:

I will have to look for Snake. I also have Do Wah Nanny, which I'm not too fond of.
Avatar 10:57am Joe McG:

@Chris: Mike Patton is on the phone for you.
Avatar 11:01am Chris M.:

@Joe: can you please have him hold until tomorrow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am braveness23:

Nice bed music. I love that Electric Mistress guitar sound
Avatar 11:02am Sem Chumbo:

Digging totally the 45's especially this last Conway side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am DCE:

love Conway Twitty, don't ever stop!
Avatar 11:02am slater:

never stop playing Conway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Mike East:

@B23 - that sounds like a leslie, no? Love that sound
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Mike East:

I thought the point of Paperback Writer was the harmonies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am braveness23:

@M.E. Not sure what is creating the effect but i like it. I am deeply disgusted with my modulation effects these days. I am on a quest to find modulators that make me smile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Mike East:

A nice stereo chorus can be fun, too. Leslies can be a bit too large for home use.
Avatar 11:08am herb.nyc:

am curious, CONWAY TWITTY is his real name? and band B.C.G., club C.B.G.B. never gave them a hard time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Mike Noble:

let the cultural appropriation discussion begin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am braveness23:

I toggle between computer based effects and amp sims and real physical stuff. I hate my physical modulators so much I've simply removed them from my rig. I couldn't be happier with my computer based modulation effects but playing through the computer is ultimately "meh"...
Avatar 11:11am Chris M.:

@Joe: you knew a guy who was into 50's rock n roll? and your parents let you hang out with him? was he your priest? :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am DCE:

my mom gave me a bunch of old 45s to play on my Mickey Mouse turntable--Everlys, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino--fell in love with early rock'n'roll, early!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am steve:

there was a Leslie sitting at the shop i used to work at for months, never got to hear it though... i imagine its completely sublime with organ or guitar?
  11:15am KP:

Hey, Joe. Happy to hear Everlys are still echoing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am steve:

i mean, the rotating speaker, not the organ itself (which im sure is also nice)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Mike Noble:

@Chris M. - I had the same thought but wasn't gonna go there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am braveness23:

@Steve I wish I knew but I'd venture that 'sublime' is a suitable word!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Mike East:

@steve - on the New Year's Day session, I had a 147 in my guitar rig, and the keyboard player had a B3 w/ a 122 in his key rig. Mic it right and it'll make yer head spin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Mike Noble:

will we hear anything from their british invasion album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Mike Noble:

the so-called "missing link" in power pop?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Carmichael:

Hiya Joe and listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am common:

steve, my friend had a leslie. used it as a table for a long time. i heard it played through once and have always wanted one.
Avatar 11:21am Joe McG:

@Mike: No, it's all Hollies songs, so I'm going to pass for today. Great LP, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Mike East:

Leslie 147/122, that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am DCE:

that's my blood pressure, Mike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am steve:

dam. i might have to google some sound samples. i love unique half mechanical/half electronic instruments
  11:25am Brian:

GREAT version of "Not Fade Away." I always tell the story of how I was dragged to an Everly Brothers show in the mid-1990s, and left blown away by how great they were. Just the 2 of them on stage, playing guitar and singing. Great show as always, Joe.--Brian
Avatar 11:25am dale:

love 'love hurts', nazareth not withstanding
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am paul b:

Gee, now I want to hear "Vancouver Breakdown"
Avatar 11:27am dale:

i hope don doesn't follow too closely, ala the hager twins from hee haw. it was like they were connected on a deeper level and one couldn't live without the other
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am steve:

"used it as a table for a long time" haha common
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am DCE:

Nazareth's version was the first I knew, and by far the worst I've heard
Avatar 11:28am Joe McG:

@dale: Really, the Hager twins died at the same time?
Avatar 11:28am Brian in UK:

@dale it was Traffic's drummer Jim Capaldi that really murdered Love Hurts, made it into a jaunty little number.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am common:

a lot of heartache going on. yea, steve, i want that "table"!
