That is not the Relf / McCarty-incarnation of Rennaissance if it is from 1978, is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57am
Goyim in the AM:

He is. So much of what he does is actually really hard to play well; the funny bit is that his one show-offy moment (the outro of "The Chain") isn't hard to play at all. But if you really concentrate on his lines while listening to "Rumours", you realize that he has these incredible counter-melodies going on all the time that never get in the way and that are so solid you could sit on them, like a chair. That their coke-fueled live concerts weren't disasters is all up to his playing.

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY JULIE CAKES! ALOOOOOHA!

DEnny Laine of Wings was original Moody Blues singer. THey did "Go Now" with him. And Bob Welch "Sentimental Lady" was in similarly mellow version of FM right before Nicks.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00am

For this old punk, keying in on the rhythm section is when the penny dropped that mellow FM is not actually mellow at all, and all the better for it.

The alternative universe where Genesis took a year off after Lamb and then everybody decided that they liked each other and they maed another Gabriel-led album: that would have been a hell of a record.
  4:27am

So how was Mazzy Star in an airplane hanger?

The more members Genesis lost, the more popular they got. Go figure.

There are moments when they are quite similar, to my ear anyhow. Gabriel is raspier
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am
Goyim in the AM:

Saw Nena as part of a really bloated Udo Lindenburg show in Frankfurt around 2000. My God, what a talented singer. My God, what lousy material most of it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am
Goyim in the AM:

Also Collins has a much stronger London dialect, which is what makes it easy to tell when he sings on Lamb.
Avatar 4:39am
fred von helsing:

I couldn't listen to an entire France Gall collection. So much middling twee. But a few songs here and there, like this one, have some real mise-en-scene (or sumpink).
