the spirit of ken was quite very much moving over the phase of the waters! oh, this part was really gorgeous, i will try to always remember how it felt!

Chew the scenery, Widmark!
  2:28pm possibilitywaves:

Hot levels seem to bring about the feeling of being in the station studio in an adjacent chair! That feeling is still there right now!
Avatar 2:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

kat: was listening to your at&t remix yesterday
Avatar 2:29pm kat330:

Always liked Richard Widmark.
Avatar 2:30pm kat330:

@Kenzo: Kool, but hardly one of my better efforts. Now, my Haunted House of the Rising Sun is one I recommend for everyone's Halloween mix. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm listener james from westwood:

hah! "coma" was my guess at the source of that clip!
Avatar 2:31pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

yeah, gotta look away from the screen so you can have more fun!
Avatar 2:33pm kat330:

Nicholson also chews the scenery in The Shining, but somehow he made it work beautifully.
Avatar Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Uncle Michael:

There's some military courtroom drama where Widmark is just utterly over the top. It's very funny.
Avatar 2:38pm kat330:

mainly I like Widmark's looks for the thug/heavy/bad guy character in noir.
Avatar 2:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar 2:40pm kat330:

Somebody call! I'm in the midst of a battle with AT&T (no mobile phone have I), so unto the breach one of youse.
Avatar 2:41pm kat330:

Who 'tis?
Avatar 2:43pm kat330:

Ask if he signed up successfully for ACA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm listener james from westwood:

i successfully set up an account, but i haven't done the digging i need to do into the individual plans for NJ.
Avatar 2:52pm kat330:

Really? Gee. I started on just about the first day. Waited with all the overload, got a supposed account, but then it has never let me successfully login since. A 90-min. phone call to fill out the Fed app (IN has no program of its own) ended w/ the rep saying she was booted off at the last min. and couldn't confirm whether the app had made it through or not. Can't check, because STILL not allowed a successful login.
Avatar 2:52pm Bliss:

That was me, on @@@gle phone, which I just downloaded an hour ago.
Now I can call ot, but no one can call in.

Kenzo: Thanks for including my call in the show.
Avatar 2:53pm kat330:

Yay, Bliss!
Avatar 2:54pm Bliss:

@ kat330
Yet...is it not sad in a way?
G@@gle phone and all?
Avatar 2:56pm kat330:

It seemed a bit thorny, yes, but at least you don't have AT&T DSL in Knob Knee, Indiana.
Avatar 2:56pm Bliss:

Not saying I don't dig the show and listening online-----though, if there was no computers Kenzo would still do a show.
Avatar 2:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I did a show before computers. I will do a show after computers
Avatar 2:57pm kat330:

Keep expecting this to go into Peter Gunn.
Avatar 2:58pm Bliss:

Hell yeah, Kenzo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm listener james from westwood:

@kat330, i'll have to cross my fingers when i try logging in again! managed to set up the account by waiting until what seemed like the initial rush wore off, but now i wonder if it's more than just volume.
Avatar 3:02pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks to all your realnesses and kindnesses. And thanks again for your pledges to WFMU's October drive to build a place for noisemaking.
Avatar 3:06pm kat330:

@James: Oh, yes, it's definitely beyond sheer volume as an issue. But I have wondered if TeaBag states like Indiana, w/ a Guvnur who rejected Fed Medicaid funds and leaving us to fend for ourselves, are the ones with the most issues. I had a thought that perhaps the Koch Bros. bribed CGI to make sure the program was effed up.
Avatar 3:06pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I will maybe read/watch the news in another life. No time or need in this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm listener james from westwood:

from what i've heard, state-run registries are working much more smoothly. sadly, i think it's washington-insider contractor screwery thus far more than outside influences (tho' i wondered if maybe the anti-ACA folks were overwhelming the servers during that 1st week; would not put it past the party that once had a group like creep and the plumbers under its aegis).
Avatar 3:09pm Bliss:

I suppose some of you are talking about the medical care thing.
Deeper intangled with every sign up.
Beware friends.

I am now more intangled with @@@le.

It's all one, or soon will be.
One trap, that is.
Avatar 3:09pm kat330:

There was a significantly long period in which I did the same -- watched / heard no news as I was already way too blue -- but I came out the other side of that. I still don't watch very much, but Colbert & Stewart are must-sees for me.
Avatar 3:10pm Bliss:

Who gives news, instead of "news"?
Avatar 3:11pm kat330:

@Bliss: tying your g--gle entanglement with the ACA computer debacle, there was a finely funny piece by John Oliver on The Daily Show, where he's sucked into the glitch-y program a la Tron. It's ha-larious.
Avatar 3:14pm kat330:

@James: But if you think about it, a million-dollar bribe is pocket change for the Kochs, and it would be so easy to screw up code for that sort of money. CGI's a Canadian company IIRC, so it would seem they'd have their sh*t together.
Avatar 3:16pm Bliss:

It's hard to keep using the same stuff when many others upgrade.
You are expected to have the latest.
Employers may suspect you, or worse discount you, if you don't have the latest.
The latest toxic toy/equipment.

Easier to use a horse and buggy when everyone else in the world uses one.
Avatar 3:16pm kat330:

You don't watch news, Kenzo, but you watch reality surgery / medical programs?? ;)
Avatar 3:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I don't watch them. I sample them.
Avatar 3:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There's a difference, you know.
Avatar 3:17pm Bliss:

What is news?
Avatar 3:18pm kat330:

As I'm never NOT multi-tasking during any "watching" time, I suppose I'm really only sampling the news myself.
Avatar 3:19pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P.S. I like lists.
Avatar Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Uncle Michael:

More Billy Joel.
Avatar 3:20pm kat330:

Oooh, then you must be blissful when reading the back of bottle of medicine (presc. OR OTC). :) And can I give you my weekly grocery lists? (Philo would be very grateful ;)
Avatar 3:21pm kat330:

I'd like to hear some Liszt now.
Avatar 3:22pm steve:

Irwin's playing a 7" of girl scouts singing. Kenzo, you've already earned my next 40 minutes
Avatar 3:23pm kat330:

@steve: Yeah, what's up with Irwin and his fondness for little girls? At least for little girl voices. Hm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm northguineahills:

Ok, I'm leaving in a bit. Thanks Kenzo!
  3:26pm possibilitywaves:

the early pictures in caves were in some ways a bit like lists! i will call in soon!
Avatar Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm cklequ:

all the lists:

Avatar 3:28pm kat330:

@PW: Just heard -- on the news, WYK -- that apparently most all of the early cave drawings were done by the females.
Avatar 3:28pm Bliss:

I hear All Is Lost is Robert Redford's finest performance.
New movie.
Anyone here seen it?
(Don't give away the ending, if so.)
Avatar 3:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

cklequ, i knew you were there.
Let's delete all of wikipedia, starting now
Avatar 3:29pm kat330:

Back to Liszt, Hungarian Rhapsody #2 is quite the romp.
Avatar 3:30pm Bliss:

Does Wikipedia suck?
Avatar 3:31pm kat330:

@Bliss: No, but we never see first run. OTOH, Philo had one free movie passes through his job, so just this past Saturday we saw Gravity (2-D though). It was great, but I hope to see it IMAX someday.
Avatar 3:32pm kat330:

Arrggggh, "won" not "one" -- it's been a long, tedious day...
Avatar 3:32pm Bliss:

All Is Lost supposedly has almost no dialogue.
Avatar 3:32pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Wikipedia got thousands of people to contribute info for free so that Facebook could copy it wholesale and make fake pages about all entities, in part to entice every entity to make their own pages to try to remove all that info. Facebook made a ton of money doing that. Didn't cost them anything.
Avatar 3:33pm Bliss:

@ Kenzo

Avatar 3:34pm kat330:

FB SUUUUUCCCCKKKKS! I'm not and never will be a member of Zuckerberg's sheep.
Avatar 3:34pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Wikipedia and Creative Commons both declared that this commercial exploitation by Facebook was OK, consistent with the so-called non-commercial Commons license.
Avatar 3:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P.S. This is a show, might not be speaking facts.
Avatar 3:35pm Bliss:

I am not either, kat330, but I have had moments of high temptation, and I have some friends that use it that are still sweet people.
Avatar 3:35pm kat330:

Kenzo, I just realized, you reported a bit of news to us just then. Where do you get your news then?
Avatar 3:37pm kat330:

Philo actually has an account. Unfortunately needed one for networking freelance cover art jobs.
Avatar 3:38pm Bliss:

Creative Commons is seen as great by millions.
I am somewhat unknowledgeable..................Ken...your show is gone.
Avatar 3:39pm Bliss:

Kenzo-------your show has been replaced.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm listener james from westwood:

i think we skipped onto the stream
Avatar 3:40pm steve:

uh oh, Jimmy Wales must've been listening! he's got Kenzo!
  3:40pm possibilitywaves:

I was wondering if this was an intentional switch or not. life without technology will be uncertain but the soul of humanity was born and continues from nature.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Doug Schulkind:

Dr. Kenzo needs just $70 more pledged to complete his most diabolical endeavor yet! Let's everyone pull together for the good doctor!

And yes, we're back on the stream. Reconnect, good doctor, reconnect!
Avatar 3:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I don't "get news." Things actually happen.
Avatar 3:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Archive audio goodness has arrived
Avatar 12:39am Droll:

For some reason I chose a Kenzo archive instead of my usual archives. Yes, we are here later, listening, commenting, making dinner....

Why are your callers so confused by the delay? Are you fluxing the timeshifter live?

Are the listeners who are not one your list before on your list now? HOLY SHIT! You *DID* mention my name on your list at 1:18, even though I am timeshifting by nearly a week. You amaze me, sir.

Regarding your "More and more, and with each step, I feel more is missing" comment about the website, remember the first fallacy of computing: There is no deficiency in software which can't be remedied with more software. Wrong! Less is more.
Avatar 7:45pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Droll: Oh gosh, "more software" is definitely the opposite of what I meant. The more technology is added to our lives, the more anything real is missing.
