Avatar 1:55pm Bliss:

If this were a movie theater I'd be stepping in and taking a seat somewhere near the outside in the middle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Rich in Washington:

Hola, Kenzo!
Avatar 2:01pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(If listening on the pop-up player, don't forget you may need to reload it, if things are sounding glitchy right now! It has trouble at the show transitions.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm listener james from westwood:

way up in the back of the theater for me, right below the projectionist.
howdy, kenzo, and all!!!
Avatar 2:03pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I always like stepping in to help the projectionist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm fleep:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Rich in Washington:

Is this live today, Kenzo?
Avatar 2:04pm Timeshift Droll:

Explode. Yes. I'd like to see that.
Avatar 2:05pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Are you live today Rich? (poke, poke...)
Avatar 2:05pm Bliss:

everything ends together in the comes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Carmichael:

Good day, Kenzo and Kenzinians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Rich in Washington:

I am only 46% live. The rest of me is a cheap polyester filler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm listener james from westwood:

fleep makes a good point about the restrooms; those cinema sodas can be a problem in the bottom half of a film!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Rich in Washington:

That other Shane Carruth movie Upstream Color is wonderful, bewildering - a little disturbing.
Avatar 2:11pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

Seeing beyond the television event horizon...
Avatar 2:13pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It's messy this week. I think: "ESCAPE TO NOISE"
Avatar 2:13pm kat330:

Found some free moments for once. Hello, Kenzo.
Avatar 2:14pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I read half the script to Carruth's unproduced film. It was really something. I couldn't imagine anyone coming up with the money for it. Haven't seen Upstream Color yet, but soon. I'm quite proud of him for Primer.
Avatar 2:15pm Bliss:

Are these new films?
Avatar 2:15pm Timeshift Droll:

I'm eating dinner, otherwise I'd be complaining to Simon about how he never comes to the Continent anymore.
Avatar 2:16pm Timeshift Droll:

K, The term is "parasite".
Avatar 2:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Bliss: Primer was a pretty much one-man (software engineer!) production, from a few years ago. He spent about $7000 in total making it (but then $25,000 to submit it to a film festival).
Avatar 2:18pm kat330:

(I probably was not typing "Hello, Kenzo" with Jerry Seinfeld's voice in my mind and Newman on my lips.)
Avatar 2:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hi, kat! And listener james, Carmichael, fleeP, and timezone exchanges.

Yes, "Primer" was to be very proud of. Philo and I enjoyed it greatly.
Avatar 2:26pm Bliss:

I was watching Part 1 of The 1900 House earlier today.
Any of you seen that?
  2:27pm kat330:

Not I, Bliss.

So no live phone-ins today, eh? Shoot, I was really hoping to call in to talk about common-sense grammar.
Avatar 2:28pm Bliss:

50 Cent's grammar?

Avatar 2:28pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar 2:30pm Timeshift Droll:

Back in a few, testing a new timeshift feature.
Avatar 2:30pm kat330:

@Bliss: No, it's how I was called "a pedant" for reminding an on-air personality that it is "I could NOT care less." The lazy way it's too often said doesn't even make sense, fercrimminy. A pedant cares about rules for rules' sake; I care about people sticking to "rules" when it creates clarity of communication.
Avatar 2:31pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

"It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food and security and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it… and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied… and it is all one."
Avatar 2:32pm Timeshift Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This show is the same way.
Avatar 2:32pm Bliss:

I can identify.
Avatar 2:33pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ooh, maybe I can make the dogcow wag.
Avatar 2:34pm kat330:

A nice quote, PSS.
Avatar 2:37pm kat330:

@Bliss: Yeah, I find it fascinating how so many playlists have their own nonsensical rules. It was OK for that guy -- GMMM -- to name-call on the list, and I've seen it allowed in attacks against me many times. And yet, OTOH, if I express a nicely reasoned comment on why I don't care for some track or some artist, I get piled on by the station faithful. Wacko rules.
Avatar 2:37pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks for the pledges. It made cow go moo. More pledges come in, will make dog go wag. Helps WFMU build radio theater downstairs for public shows and such.
Avatar 2:38pm kat330:

David Clennon, yowza! I can name-drop with pride on David. He was a guest in my home back in the North Hollywood daze. A true activist he is.
Avatar 2:41pm Droll:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm listener james from westwood:

no mistaking that peter falk voice! reassuring in its way.
Avatar 2:52pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It's pretty wild to be watching a surreal black and white 80's German film and suddenly Peter Falk shows up. (Wings of Desire)
Avatar 2:54pm kat330:

@Kenzo: So, any comment here w/o your "Timeshift" addition and avatar is definitely being posted in real time right now, yes?

Avatar 2:56pm Droll:

kat, Apparently. My conversation with Simon was last night, but I'm here (again) now.
Avatar 2:57pm kat330:

:) I kinda guessed that. Otherwise you're mighty psychic!
Avatar 2:57pm kat330:

@Droll: Are you the only one here from last night other than Kenzo?
Avatar 2:58pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

I used to keep a list of famous people who have only one eye. It's surprising just how big the list is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm northguineahills:

I do believe I was here last night. WTF?!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Rich in Washington:

I just this moment was looking at a pic of Sammy Davis Jr. from the Sixties.

Avatar 3:03pm Timeshift Droll:

This comment isn't really from last night, but it sorta looks that way. Curiouser and curiouser.
Avatar 3:03pm kat330:

The giveaway is not having Kenzo's avatar.
Avatar 3:04pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

And right now, on Ken's Whatever.
Avatar 3:05pm kat330:

@Bliss: Philo was a towhead as a child and loves watermelon, too. What a small world after all!
Avatar 3:05pm Timeshift possibilitywaves:

"the amazing thing":P is that everything we see... sense is mysteriously and truly the consciousness-perception of our mind forest and related sense capacities. the signals from outside are the master tape reel but every first and last sense that we experience is a dubbed tape, a rebuilding, even resurrection, in the form of consciousness of the initial signals received. : ) :) <3

consciousness is a holy grail or chalice! senses are an enormous wine or soup or lake that fills it!
Avatar 3:07pm kat330:

So, Kenzo, do you still have the cold you seem to have had last night? (or allergies)
Avatar 3:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

You were there too, Tin Man!
Avatar 3:08pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

kat330: I was just reading about the cold John Lennon had when he recorded the now-famous "Twist and Shout"
Avatar 3:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

listener james: Last night is now! The easy memory rule is: One new show each week.
Avatar 3:09pm kat330:

His voice did sound particularly sexy on that track.

Quantum mechanics says that we don't sense the universe, we create the universe.
Avatar 3:12pm Bliss:

Avatar 3:12pm Timeshift Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I need more soup than wine
Avatar 3:13pm Timeshift Droll:

Quantum mechanics doesn't say anything like that! It talks about probability distributions and density functions. I think listener possibilitywaves is in on it.
Avatar 3:14pm kat330:

@Bliss: A recent loss? My ♥-felt sympathies to you.
Avatar 3:15pm Bliss:

OK, Is this going to be here tomorrow, b/c then I'll have to also be here now....?
Avatar 3:17pm Timeshift Droll:

ngh, Too late, it's already over and we're all gone already.
Avatar 3:17pm Timeshift possibilitywaves:

Yes : ) it's a second lake within our sensual grail lake. you would be two steps on your water!
Avatar 3:18pm Timeshift Fleep:

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects, resulting in a contradiction with common sense. The scenario presents a cat that may be both alive and dead, depending on an earlier random event. Although the original "experiment" was imaginary, similar principles have been researched and used in practical applications. The thought experiment is also often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics.
Avatar 3:18pm kat330:

"Two steps on your water"? Is that akin to three sheets to the wind?
Avatar 3:19pm Timeshift Droll:

You mean I can come back tomorrow to reply to my own comments?
If I wasn't having fun, I do know how to switch it off and do something else.

Avatar 3:25pm Timeshift Droll:

"Learning the computer will be fun."
"It will not!"

From where did that sample come?!
Avatar 3:25pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

I cannot come back tomorrow and reply to my own comments, because the person who would come tomorrow would not be the same person who is here tonight. I believe Heraclitus said something like this.

Also, I have to work tomorrow.
Avatar 3:26pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I was actively communicating socially via computers before that, alas.
Avatar 3:26pm Bliss:

I was 20 then.
It'd be another 15 years before someone showed me how to "log-on".
Avatar 3:27pm Timeshift Fleep:

I'm mixing Kenzo and Solid Gold Hell and parts of it are working remarkably well.

Cool, and thanks for the answers. I totally stumbled into it during a visit to NYC. A friend showed me the BBS his was a sysop for, gave me a WATS # and explained how to log in. So out in L.A. I was interacting with NYers and discussing, films, literature, music, etc. The more things change ...

Anyone else hear how Friend & Lover's"Reach Out of The Darkness" (1968) has been co-opted for some TV commercial? At least it reminded me of what a groovy song it is.

I miss when sampling was transformative and had a sense of humor. Negativland is underrated.

Galloping Gourmet?
Avatar 3:37pm kat330:

@Timeshift pss: I'd always heard it was the smell of copper, like a copper penny.

Why am I sorting Canadian coins?
Avatar 3:38pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

Canada has a 2 dollar coin made from 2 different metals, like the Euro.
Avatar 3:39pm Timeshift Droll:

I love the Toonie! I wish the US had sensible coinage. Or even a functioning government.
Avatar 3:40pm Timeshift Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I miss you too
Avatar 3:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Gosh, Bliss, repeat pledges aren't necessary, but so many thanks!

Avatar 3:42pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

Is there a kat in the room?
Avatar 3:43pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Stau, thanks for being here Nau!
Avatar 3:43pm Droll:

kat, I started on BBSs around 1983, graduated to the chat rooms operated on an Apple ][ with 6 modems in it, to MUDs, and so on. I know Listener G is also an online dinosaur.
Avatar 3:44pm Timeshift Droll:

Is there really going to be an entire second set of unrelated comments alongside PSS and fleep and me?
I'd check, but the "regular" time conflicts with my appointment with Dr. Chusid.
Avatar 3:45pm Timeshift pacific standard simon:

Droll, your comments now may very well be timeshifted into the comments made tomorrow.
Avatar 3:46pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

cklequ, it's been good to be with you!
Avatar 3:46pm kat330:

@Droll: Good to know I'm not out on some limb alone as far as veteran netiquette and social media experience.
Avatar 3:47pm Droll:

kat, Are you big on Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In, etc?
Avatar 3:48pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Repeat greet to Bliss, Rich, james, fleep, Carmichael, kat in the room, Double Droll, northguineahills, Stau, cklequ...
Avatar 3:49pm kat330:

@Droll: Quite the opposite. I knew FB would never be my cup of tea even before all the privacy concerns arose. And Twitter, well it would fit like a glove for my many original aphorisms, but that's why I don't open an account. It's my gift to myself of extra time. :)

Avatar 3:52pm Bliss:

Thanks, Kenzo.
Have a good week.
Avatar 3:52pm kat330:

And droll you should ask since just this morning I decided to do a search on kat330 -- wondering if someone out there was pretending to be me and being all nasty-ass creating the reception I seem to get lately around these parts. Found there ARE other kat330's -- one whose real name is apparently Karen Theise or somesuch, and another who uses kitkat330 and promotes products and stupid videos.
I'm ONLY on Tumblr, Bandcamp and SoundCloud. Accept no imposters! :)

Is there a Kill Ugly Radio in Los Angeles?
Avatar 3:53pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

He may have changed the name in 2009, can't remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm northguineahills:

Yep, I remember this from last night.
Avatar 3:54pm kat330:

Thank YOU, Kenzo -- what soul's coughing in the studio?
Bye bodies!
Avatar 3:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Next week, Wed. 2-4pm ET right here...very live, very spontaneous, and yes please call in live and add your voice or joice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Rich in Washington:

I know there was a Kill Radio and then there was the Zappa blog, Kill Ugly Radio.
Avatar 3:55pm Timeshift Droll:

[waving bye bye to Kenzo] Thanks for the invite! Sorry 'bout the Regexp.
Avatar 3:55pm Droll:

kat, Ditto -- I don't touch any of that stuff. No good comes from FB!

The problem with 1 billion user accounts is even the odd names are taken. I own my name as a .com domain, another benefit of early adoption/protection.
Avatar 3:55pm Timeshift Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks! Yesterday, we will live again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Kenzo! Your shows are amazing!
Avatar 3:56pm Timeshift possibilitywaves:

thanks ken and everyone! sending love and wishing many good upcoming experiences in nature and life parallels and combinings; in your own wishes and those of everyone with you!
Avatar 3:56pm Showshift Fred:

I'm time-shifting again, time-drifting even. I listen now, will again in the future, pledged to this show in the past. I love the Hounds of Love bits. Keep time fluid and messy, Kenzo
Avatar 3:56pm Droll:
