ARP! One of the unsung heroes of Detroit
Avatar 12:08pm Diane Kamikaze:

I had no idea they were from Detroit, cool1 Love the Little Pigs Little Pigs record!
Avatar 12:08pm Cecile:

I do too!
They were great live, good guys.
The band other bands liked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm tim from champaign:

I've got the ARP LP. Good stuff.
Avatar 12:10pm Jim Devoid:

Never heard ARP, but always remember seeing their ads in MRR during the mid 80's. Thanks for playing them!
Avatar 12:15pm Cheri Pi:

I've seen ARP a dozen times!!! maybe even my first "show" in 1985.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm tim from champaign:

Ewolf who photographed countless Touch and Go and other midwestern bands played drums for ARP.
Avatar 12:19pm Cecile:

I didn't know that, Tim.
Avatar 12:19pm Jim Devoid:

"I am the warrior, I deliver the fatal blow...."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm common:

hell yea, thin lizzy!!!
Avatar 12:23pm Cecile:

ITA, Cheri.
What store was that, Mark?
Avatar 12:24pm Cecile:

Diane, I think it's time for Peer Pressure with Angry Red Planet.
  12:25pm Mark:

It was called Sam's Jams. Located on 9 Mile Road in Fashionable Ferndale.
  12:27pm Mark:

I don't even remember the guy's name--it wasn't Tim, though. He only listened to really fierce hardcore punk music. I used to tease him by acting all erudite and say, "Ah, yes--it's wonderful. Completely devoid of the commercial trappings of harmony and melody."
Avatar 12:27pm Cecile:

Sam's Jams! I remember going there a few times and finding zines that were sold out in A2.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm tim from champaign:

Indian has the Eyehategod feedback sound down. I'm digging this.
  12:29pm Mark:

Ferndale has actually become very fashionable now. Gay people have transformed the shopping district into a fun and fabulous destination (I'm not even being sarcastic).
Avatar 12:30pm cthulhu:

Chug, Chug, Chug.....
Avatar 12:31pm Cecile:

That seems to be starting in my neighborhood. I encourage it heartily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm tim from champaign:

Ferndale has The Blue Nile - my all time favorite Ethiopian restaurant.
  12:32pm Mark:

My investment advice: wherever gay people are flocking, buy real estate.
Avatar 12:32pm Cecile:

we have a blue nile here, too.
  12:34pm Mark:

Wow, what's with all the Detroiters today? I wasn't aware there was one in Ferndale. There was one in downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor--very tasty.

Avatar 12:54pm Cheri Pi:

What Cecile screamed.
Avatar 12:55pm Cheri Pi:

If Coe were here he'd want me to VOIVOD!!!! for him.
Avatar 12:56pm Chris from DC:

And some favorite Voivod at that.

Avatar 12:59pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 1:00pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:04pm Cheri Pi:

I get to see a nice sludgy band SONS OF TONATIUH tonight!
Avatar 1:07pm Whosondephone:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Blacktooth:

Hell yes. Reading about the giant sinkhole in Bayou Corne, La. Coffins is perfect backing music.
Avatar 1:10pm Cheri Pi:

I approve this message from Coffins.
Avatar 1:11pm Cheri Pi:

Mr CP brought me home an advance cd of their new lp, haven;t listened to it yet, WTF CP???
  1:34pm Sean:

Wow, this USA Out of Vietnam is FANTASTIC!!!
Avatar 1:38pm cthulhu:

Avatar 1:43pm Cecile:

they can play - the only thing a little weak about it is the vocalist - he's just a little too "period". The drummer is tight as hell.
Avatar 1:45pm Cecile:

shame it had such a tiny first pressing - this could have done well.
Avatar 1:47pm Cecile:

flute-tinged witch rock!
Avatar 1:49pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 1:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Once again, late to the party. But cheers for the Pretty Things track up there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm tim from champaign:

Has the passing White Flag's Bill Bartell been noted yet? I always appreciated their ability to piss off the lunkhead punks.
Avatar 1:59pm cthulhu:

guys with beards and guitars! neeto!
Avatar 1:59pm cthulhu:

Diane the last time I saw you was Clutch/Mastodon in Morristown.....
Avatar 2:00pm Cecile:

I want them to record their epic "Dark Side of the Moon Pie."
Avatar 2:01pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 2:04pm Whosondephone:

I find this one a little scary.
  2:06pm r i s k y:

Are Gunslingers and GR a similar act???

Avatar 2:08pm Cecile:

I don't know, but everything I hear of Gunslingers totally rocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm tim from champaign:

Yeah, this Gunslingers is very ripping.
  2:11pm r i s k y:

Agreed! I'm digging through the internet as we listen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Stevel:

Gunslingers: Yes. Strange fusion. Keeps reminding me of different bands from very different styles. Usually, that means its original stuff.
  2:16pm fenniless:

  2:22pm r i s k y:

I'm right! GR. I'm not even going to type the heniously long record label they are both released on.
  2:23pm r i s k y:

Riotseason.com ( the album is in stock you freaks)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Stevel:

Never heard anything from Kvelertak that I didn't love.
Avatar 2:26pm Cecile:

this is stand atop the mountain and rain lightning bolts down on your enemies music
Avatar 2:27pm Diane Kamikaze:

@cthulhu Yes! Up on that dead end by the prison! I remember now! Weird club, I think I saw one other show at that venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Stevel:

Cecile: Oh yeah.

Translates as Stranglehold. Tell me they're touring the US soon.
Avatar 2:36pm cthulhu:

Avatar 2:38pm Cheri Pi:

can we hear Stranglehold by UK Subs in honor of this discovery?
Avatar 2:39pm Shaun(ununun):

Avatar 2:41pm Cecile:

This new Ministry album is pretty good. Sounds like their old stuff.
Avatar 2:41pm Jim Devoid:

....or Stranglehold, the Boston band with members from Gangreen?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm common:

incipid flock. great song title!
Avatar 2:42pm Cheri Pi:

Or the Stranglers?
Avatar 2:42pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 2:43pm Shaun(ununun):

I tried finding this photo of Kayo Dot playing on a mountain top in San Diego last summer in light of Cecile's comment about Kvelertak's sound. Couldn't find it. Then Diane played that Vaura track from the upcoming LP and Toby (the composer of KD) plays bass in that band.
Avatar 2:45pm Shaun(ununun):

Portal/Anaal Nathrakh. \m/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Cecile, which old Ministry stuff though?
