Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Another show in the can. I hope you enjoyed it. I struggled with it. But in re-listening, there were moments. Thanks to Fab for sitting in. I actually went out two separate days in search of interviews, but I had no angle, no verve. Got shy. Came home. Tried the desperation digital thing. There were some good songs, though. I always feel guilty playing too much music on Dusty. It's supposed to be a talk-oriented time slot. I try to balance it out. ----- Anyway, I hope you're enjoying your summer. Already feeling a little fall-ish here, but hot weather returns this week. Oh my ... I'm talking about the weather. That's my cue. Thanks for listening and I hope you listen again. Until next time, take care and ... always remember. CPNYC8201399

Lisa Robin Kelly, I thought she died earlier this year? Maybe it was getting arrested (again) earlier this year. A tragic life, in any case.

Avatar 6:29pm kirk from beer city usa:

@Matt: Founders, Vivant, and a beer bar called Hopcat are the top choices here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

"A guy from Jobriath's band"! You don't even need his name on the cover, just advertise that fact!

And this appears to be funk-disco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm fleep:

Cool horns.
Avatar 6:30pm Fredericks:

Transvestites know how to boogie!
Avatar 6:30pm kirk from beer city usa:

@ Night Al: 75 degrees, partly cloudy.
  6:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Suddenly I can't stop BOOGIEIN' on this bus! I may face disciplinary action!
Avatar 6:31pm Night Al:

I still remember when my mom brought KC and the Sunshine Band's debut album home in Detroit. I ended up playing it more than her. Disco didn't suck to me. Was it '76? I think so, I was 16.
Avatar 6:33pm Fredericks:

Change your clothes, Turnip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Hi RTD! And you better watch out for those Metro police--bus/subway boogiein' is strictly prohibited in DC! And God help you if you're found in possession of a French fry!
  6:34pm Wilmer:

I just remember the guitarist's hair being like the main of a lion
Avatar 6:34pm dale:

renaissance was the first group i saw. anni haslam in a diaphanous gown with a backlight on her was a sight for a 17 year old to behold. check out keith relf's earlier renaissance though for something different. jane relf's voice is awful, though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Matt from Springfield:

@Fred: At least his shoes, maybe? Take off the boogie shoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Andrew Waterloo:

Yah, I don't mind the cooler weather, it just would have been nice to have a nicer day for the beach while I was on vacation.
Avatar 6:34pm Night Al:

St Petersburg, Florida

La brocante est chouette. Je l'adore. Super. Ethos Ardour j'ai trouvè cette après-midi. Bon soir Clay, Fabio, et tout le monde.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, "Candy", the Ringo vehicle.

Bonsoir, Negative Eclipse!
Avatar 6:37pm kirk from beer city usa:

yikes! good thing you're not Middle-of-the-Afternoon Al. you should spend your time in the air-conditioned Dali museum.
Avatar 6:38pm Night Al:

Robbie Steinhardt, the ex-fiddle player from the group Kansas, just underwent open heart surgery here yesterday ... he pulled through and is recovering. YAY! He's one of our local celebs here in St Pete.
Avatar 6:40pm Night Al:

Remember Lois Dee ... Joey Dee's late wife.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Joe Pesci was quite connected with the stars of Jersey at that time. Took him a while to become one himself though.
  6:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

re: Candy: forget the film
Avatar 6:41pm Night Al:

Joey and Lois Dee were friends of Joe Pesci from what I heard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

@kirk: Oh, and belated thanks for your beersie recs @6:29. I'll see if they have any of those at my Total Wine!
Avatar 6:42pm Fredericks:

That does not sound like Joey Dee. This is loose and rocking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Good thoughts go out to Sally! Think positive and get well soon!
  6:45pm Marmalade Kitty:

Deep Purple Pub rock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Curt:

Love hearing Clay and Fabio talk music!
Avatar 6:46pm kirk from beer city usa:

good luck Matt. Bye everyone, gotta go, even though this show is really great...
Avatar 6:46pm Night Al:

We got to vote on the mayor and repealing the current new Lens pier design or not on the 26th. I'm for the new pier so I'm voting no on the proposition to stop it ... big news here in downtown St Pete. The 'Lens' will be cool and they already spent $5 million on the process. The existing Pier has been closed to traffic since May and is going to be demolished soon regardless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

"East of Ginger Trees"! You've played that before--I already knew and loved that one, but what a great song! Great mandolin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Matt from Springfield:

Fabio "ramp"! Drink! ;)
  6:48pm Lipps Inc:

Me needs more lubrication
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Matt from Springfield:

Love it when you hit the post, Clay! The sexxxxxxxxxx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Minneapolis area outfit that did more than just "Funkytown". I love their tracks.
Avatar 6:50pm Night Al:

Sad news broke last night - Blue Oyster Cult's guitar player Allan Lanier has died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Curt:

How about Isley Bros. cover of 'Summer Breeze'!
  6:51pm Nate:

Walk the ramp and hit the post on another please? Professional broadcasting, baby
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Matt from Springfield:

RIP, Allan. BÖC won't be the same w/o him, or w/o Gene Frenkle...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Matt from Springfield:

Peace and love: "Not enough. We need more!" Excellent MOPAL!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Matt from Springfield:

"Are we on the air?" LOL coming from Fab! :)
Avatar 6:52pm Night Al:

Dash Croft's birthday was yesterday ... Jim Seals and Dash Crofts may be best known for the work they’ve released under their last names, but the duo first played together in such bands as Dean Beard and the Crew Cuts, the Champs (but not until after ‘Tequila’ was a hit), Glen Campbell and the GCs (yes, that Glen Campbell) and the Dawnbreakers. In 1969, Seals and Crofts decided to go on their own and released their self-titled debut album that year. While generally considered less rock than adult contemporary, the duo nonetheless spent the ‘70s racking up several significant chart successes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Curt:

So many notes!
  6:54pm L.A. joe:

Clay, you should do a whole show of ramp-ups....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Matt from Springfield:

"Prog In Your Throat"
Avatar 6:54pm dale:

night al - and co hosting many many weeks on mike douglas!
Avatar 6:55pm Fredericks:

Late Gong: No melody. Technique over songwriting = dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, that's a 180 blast off to another planet for the Guess Who!
Avatar 6:55pm Night Al:

I saw Seals and Croft's play a rock festival in Tampa on Aug. 19th, 1978, my 18th birthday. Alvin Lee and Ten Years After, Joe Cocker, Black Oak Arkansas, and more. I got really high.
  6:55pm common:

i can't believe that was the guess who. soooo goood and proggy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

"Psst! Dude! ... You got any crystal grass with ya???"
Avatar 6:56pm dale:

ooh, vocalist on this crystal grass is kinda lame
Avatar 6:56pm Night Al:

@dale I remember that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, Richie Havens singing "Band on the Run", that's a good catalogue track!
Avatar 6:58pm Night Al:

Later Clay Bonius and Matt ... have a great week.
  6:59pm Marmalade Kitty:

Guess Who -Sounds like Prog Henry Rollins.. Black flag.. obvious influence.

Clay: Guess Who.
Fabio: I'm trying..
Fabio: ok, who is it?
Clay: Guess Who!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Matt from Springfield:

If we ever get out of here...we'll have to listen again to this on Archive.

Good night Clay, Night Al, Nate, Fredericks and everyone!
Hold your memories and don't let go!
Avatar 7:00pm Night Al:

My cousin's band Ole Limousine opened up at the Bayfront Center for Richie Havens in the 70's ... he was a last minute fill-in. Got to meet him and hang in the green room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Matt from Springfield:

And Kitty too! Quite possible to do a live (Guess) Who's on First with that example! :)
