Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Quite Something - The Outro w/Fab
I hope you enjoyed this episode of the Dusty Show. I struggled with it. It was one of those weeks where I tried to go out and interview people, on two occassions. But I couldn't find it. Couldn't feel it. So I made the Paul Smith thing and wished I'd had three more nights to do an hour of it. The Robot segment was a story I wrote quickly a few weeks ago, then I let my computer read it. A cheap gimmick, admittedly, and it meandered and lost its way. But, I tried. Fab's always great. I love when you guys call in. It helps. Wish I could do an 18-hour music show. Man that would be so great. Always Remember .... PS

Sting is boring.
Avatar 6:07pm Cecile:

Eddie Cochran
  6:08pm Brian:

that movie is called "Radio On"
Avatar 6:08pm Cecile:

there is a combination of blandness and pretension that turns me off to Sting. Some police songs are great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Ike:

Wow. For once I'm with Clay Pigeon and not Fabio. How about that? I always liked "Synchronicity." As a teen, I found my way from there to Siouxsie to a whole world of alt rock and then eventually to FMU.
Avatar 6:09pm Night Al:

I held the stage door for Sting at the Tampa Ampitheater a few years back. Before he went in he ran over to the gate and shmoozed with some fans standing there. He probably isn't as big a douche as one might think.
Avatar 6:09pm sFrances from VA:

cheers all! Once again, I have to side w/Fabio....
Avatar 6:11pm northguineahills:

38 Special was a Skynyrd spinoff
  6:11pm clay fan:

YEAH Southern Rock Block
Avatar 6:12pm steve:

So Lonely by the Police is borderline listenable, but that's about it as far as i know
Avatar 6:12pm Night Al:

I was so high on acid and speed when I saw Skynyrd at the 'Rock Superbowl' at the Orange Bowl around 1980, I have foggy memories of the whole day. I remember tripping that Skynyrd was the nucleus of the huge cell we were all a part of...morphing colors and sound.
  6:12pm Ken:

What happened to your 20 minutes
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

Grew up just a few miles away from the Van Zant house. Ronnie's daughter was my age.

Was Molly Hatchet considered Southern Rock?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

HAY Fab! Clay! 10,000 Clayniacs!
Sting is great with The Police, and not after.
Genuine "Imitation of Life" Gazette!!!
Avatar 6:16pm Cecile:

hells yeah.
Avatar 6:16pm northguineahills:

Molly Hatchet is definitely Southern rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Ike:

That 4th Indiana Jones was a huge waste of Cate Blanchett's talents. She hardly got anything to do. What an insubstantial bunch of zzzzz.
Avatar 6:17pm Cecile:

I like a lot of H&O

@NGH: "Van Zant married Nadine Inscoe on 2 January 1967. The couple had a daughter, Tammy (born 1967), before divorcing in 1969. He married Judy Seymour in 1972. They remained married up until his death in 1977. They had one daughter, Melody, born in 1976."

Is Melody the one? Did you ever know her personally?
  6:18pm ScottC:

I art directed Skynyrd's concert merch for many years and I always took the Confederate flag out as much as possible. I think one year it did not appear on a single item. I heard that this year the band announced that they were not going to use it any longer.
  6:18pm cglenn:

rock hudson in remake of Imitation...

Clay you make Fabio very nervous. Why so nervous Fab?

Avatar 6:20pm sFrances from VA:

6:20pm Brian in New Orleans checking in.:

Hate to say it but fabio loses points dissing skynyrd.... I love Can, Nurse With Wound, Natural Snow Buildings etc etc but Skynyrd were a great band with great songs. Funny how Clay comes across as the more open minded one !
  6:21pm Nate:

What's Hall and Oates backup doing these days?
  6:21pm Fredericks:

Hey Clayton, Are playing mp3s or is this worse than I remember?
Avatar 6:21pm northguineahills:

Yep, Melody. She lived down the street (in a giant house) from one of my best friends in Middleburg, FL.
Avatar 6:21pm Cecile:

No, Runt was from NY. H&O is great friends with him.
  6:22pm curt:

Rather than Kirk Douglas, I think it's director Douglas Sirk.
Avatar 6:22pm Cecile:

I mean Runt was from Philly
  6:22pm ScottC:

@Matt No Cocaine mirrors but every year we did a special tee - the "SUPPORT SOUTHERN ROCK" tee that had Ronnie Van Sants parent's on the shirt. This was a way the mom and dad got some lucre...
Avatar 6:22pm Cecile:

The Nazz were from Philly too
Avatar 6:22pm northguineahills:

I knew Artemis Pyle's son, Marshall in HS and later. He was as much as a nut as his father.
Avatar 6:23pm Night Al:

Actually the line-up was The Rossington-Collins Band, REO Speedwagon, Billy Squier, Foghat, Rock Superbowl XI, Orlando Stadium, July 4th 1981. I remember tripping on the fireworks that day also now.
  6:24pm Nate:

OMG @Night Al killer line-up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Matt from Springfield:

@ScottC: That's cool. "Ronnie, Johnnie AND Donnie...Support their folks!"
Avatar 6:25pm Fredericks:

I saw Artemis Pyle dressed up as a nun.
Avatar 6:26pm Cecile:

later, all!
Avatar 6:26pm Night Al:

Hall & Oates ran off-stage for a quick band huddle and surrounded me in the wings of the A La Carte Pavillion in Tampa at the Magnolia Ball a few years back. I was trapped and had to stand there and take it. Awkward. I remember after a few seconds Darryl looked at me with a slightly pissy look on his face. Good times!
Avatar 6:27pm sFrances from VA:

Have a great weekend,Cecile!
Avatar 6:27pm northguineahills:

I've been to the Philip Johnson Glass House, it's awesome, and I highly recommend anyone go visit. You can take metro-north there.
