Hi Joe! 12539! PSS (again)!
Avatar 8:05pm
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt and everybody! Sorry about the one-channel sound of this record...damn Turntable 3! We'll solve it....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm
pacific standard simon:

Crank up the wringer on that old washing machine!

Hi 'gain, Matt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

Watch out for those Red-Hot Red-Head Mammas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
pacific standard simon:

The beer run was a success, by the way -- summer ale!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, Jack Kaufman's taking innuendo to new depths! (pun be pardoned.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
pacific standard simon:

Margaret'll take 'em to the door, when Jack comes innuendo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
Matt from Springfield:

@PSS: Ha!

Heavily noise interference on this one, but the content shines through strong!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

"The Sweetheart of Sigma(ther) Chi(uys)"!

Chop Scott:

JOE! I love the surface noise--CHEERS!!!
Avatar 8:20pm
Joe McG:

Hey, Chop Scott! Yes, we're listening to surface noise with a little bit of music tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

Enchanting Slavic strings!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
pacific standard simon:

Russian music played by actual political refugees (possibly)!
Avatar 8:22pm
Joe McG:

@pss: Possibly!

Fernando M Pacheco:

Wow!!! it's you Joe?!? I never listen at this hour and suddenly I recognise the voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
I X Key!:

!
Avatar 8:23pm
Joe McG:

Hey, Fernando! Yes, I'm digging into my 78 collection for tonight's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

Now would be a good time to turn up the speakers and microwave my leftovers for dinner (coincidentally - or IS IT?! - "gyro pizza"!!!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm
pacific standard simon:

I think my 78 collection only ever amounted to one Spike Jones record that someone dropped a 6-pack of Anchor Steam Beer on. :(
Avatar 8:27pm
Joe McG:

@pss: Ha ha!
  8:28pm
Sue:

Joe!! How's it going? Awesome to see you playing all these 78's again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
pacific standard simon:

It was shellacked!
  8:30pm
patro:

When I was a kid we had a bunch of Spike Jones 78's. My father and grandfather even saw them in concert once. I wonder where those records are now
Avatar 8:30pm
Joe McG:

Hey Sue! Glad you're liking 'em!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@PSS: If it had to go, it would be fitting if they dropped the 6 pack of beer on the Spike Jones record--AS it was playing! Spike would appreciate the craziness of that sound over his sounds, wherever he is!
Avatar 8:35pm
Joe McG:

@patro: Spike Jones records are fortunately pretty easy to find if you ever have the desire to hear them again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

Love how this yodel is jumping all around with the distorted old record! :)
Avatar 8:38pm
Joe McG:

@Matt: I tried this one out in another studio earlier today and it played fine, Matt. Plagued by technical difficulties this evening, I'm afraid. It did sound pretty cool, though!
Avatar 8:38pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...presumably not Bill Cox from Band of Gypsys....
Avatar 8:39pm
Joe McG:

@RR: Maybe his granddad!
Avatar 8:40pm
glenn:

i know what a red headed mamma can do.
Avatar 8:40pm
Joe McG:

@glenn: Lucky man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
pacific standard simon:

You could make a marathon premium of loop track 78 surface noise -- don't know how popular it would be, though.
Avatar 8:44pm
Joe McG:

@pss: More popular than any premium ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
I X Key!:

! I'd pledge for that (o:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

@PSS: Actually, I think a killer premium idea would be a collection of DJ "loops"--the exact segments a bunch of FMU DJs use on repeat -- so listeners can loop/repeat them as long as they like! Joe's "Crystal Clear"! Therese's Shuggie Otis! Julie's "jibrille-silent mourning"! Anything of Irwin's! Though I think Ol' Pal Irwin won't give his up to the public... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

...and of course, surface noise loops, in 5 different states of record quality! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
pacific standard simon:

I'm a big fan of the Shemp Howard loop tapes.
Avatar 8:50pm
Joe McG:

Long out of print, but immortal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
pacific standard simon:

That steamboat noise sounds like when I was a kid, blowing on cardboard tubes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
pacific standard simon:

Ooops, gotta run again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

...or a bottle partly filled with liquid!

Catch ya later, PSS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm

Record skip!!
Avatar 8:58pm

Thanks for listening, folks! We made it! See some of you on Thursday morning for something completely different.
