Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I enjoyed getting back outside and on the streets again and talking to people. So many interesting minds and thoughts and characters, As tough as things get there is a resilience in people that is truly inspiring.

As for Boston, it's hard to really wrap my mind around it. These events are so shocking and horrific, and seem to occur with such frequency lately that it's hard to process them. I try to put myself in the place of someone who lost someone in the bombings, or who was injured by them. It's hard to even imagine. The silver lining of heroism and community is always heartening to see.

As for the background check fail, I don't think it can stand. I do think reason and the will of the people will prevail.

Enough windbaggery from me. I hope you liked the show. It was fun to play some of my recent flea acquisitions. I've also been enjoying your visits to Pigeonnaires and Clay Pigeon WFMU on Facebook. Twitter, too. Social Media is such a weird blessing/curse. For the moment, the experiment continues ... and I guess that goes for The Dusty Show, too. For the moment, the experiment continues. I'm glad you are along for the ride. Sincerely. Thanks. CPNYC41399

Its a rare occasion whenever I get to listen to Dusty live
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Matt from Springfield:

Wooo! Pigeon Politics Redux! Bout time we had another timely street interview show!

Hey Clay and everyone!
  6:04pm dale:

fabios program was fantastic - been listening, just not near the cornpooter. sounds like classic clay coming up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Love love LOVE "Spirit In The Sky"! Won the 1970 Grammy for Best Jewish Gospel Rock.
Avatar 6:05pm david_:

Greenbaum reportedly lives off royalties from this song - albeit modestly. Hats off to him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Matt from Springfield:

@dale: Keep the whiffs of yer *corn-pooting* away from this playlist!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

What state does background checks for a driver's license?
Avatar 6:07pm david_:

Good Q, pete. and it must be state by state. I know NH lets 15 year-olds drive without a permit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Things are changing, albeit too slow to take effective action...the NRA would just be throwing lobby money away if there weren't real grassroots opposition to gun control. There are a few thousand single-issue voters on guns in each state, and in many smaller states that's the difference between winning and losing an election for those politicians. The only way to pushback...is to come up with more single-issue voters in favor of gun control.
  6:08pm dale:

my wife gets so mad when i say that - she thinks i'm an ignoramous on purpose, which i am
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Matt from Springfield:

@david: I thought all the states raised it to 16, at the risk of losing federal highway funding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I've never lived in one. I would be more surprised if such a thing existed than I would if this guy is simply misinformed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Matt from Springfield:

Diamond Dogs!!! :D
Avatar 6:09pm Clay Pigeon:

Hey everyone. I was talking w/Fabio and guest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Matt from Springfield:

@dale: Tell her that it's the *un*intentional ignorami you hafta worry about! :)
Avatar 6:10pm david_:

ah, that may be, Matt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Matt from Springfield:

@david: Forty years ago, some farm-heavy states had 12 yo licenses, for the purpose of driving in and around their farms.
Avatar 6:12pm glenn:

ha! mostly we think the n.r.a. are batshit crazy.
  6:12pm Night Al:

I don't own a gun. Never have. I don't like the idea of other people having them and I don't. It's that simple with me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Matt from Springfield:

We've discussed this before on this show, but I like Canada's example. They also have a lot like the US, but everyone has to take training and get checked off by the RCMP--that's the best way to do it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Gun control is a complicated issue for me. I want to be safe, and yet, I don't know that gun control does more than seem like a safe idea. Sometimes I feel like it's a distraction from the real problems. But I just don't know.
Avatar 6:13pm glenn:

je me souviens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Most people think mostly that the NRA is mostly batshit crazy. Course that's prob a badge of honor to the NRA.
  6:14pm dale:

my wife's sister and bro in law keep loaded handguns on every nitestand. when she stayed with them she was afraid the alarm would go off and she would hit the gun and blow her brains out. people are weird and scared. i'm not a hunter, but if you use all you take and that's all i'm okay with it
Avatar 6:14pm david_:

I think grassroots support for the 2nd amendment is real, but it has been hijacked and processed by the lobbies, much like the taxation issue. Also we should remember that some of the same people who benefit from guns benefit from war toys...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Mike East:

hey, what's happenin', Clayniacs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

The East Mike is rising! How's it going!
  6:16pm Night Al:

I think hunters should have to use a bow and arrow. All other guns should be illegal to citizens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Matt from Springfield:

@david: True, many longtime rifle shooters and sportsmen are pissed at how the NRA's become a lobby for the arms manufacturers instead of them.
  6:17pm dale:

i LOVE this focus music in the background - focus II?
Avatar 6:18pm Clay Pigeon:

Moving Waves, Dale.
  6:18pm dale:

it's very elizabethan, house of the king is on it....
Avatar 6:19pm glenn:

  6:20pm Night Al:

Rush is playing this Sunday in Orlando. I thought about going. Too far, too much money though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Sweet Caroline is emblematic of the ruin of all dignity in the Red Sox organization.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: What ideological Marxist bullcrap!! "set out penalties for the illegal possession and misuse of a firearm" -- HOW can something so vital and sacred as a firearm be mis-(*SPLATTER*)
Avatar 6:21pm david_:

I appreciate this dude's understanding of his privilege.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: And THANKS! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

@Night Al: What's the average price for Rush tickets now?
  6:22pm Night Al:

Willie Nelson is playing this Wednesday in Clearwater. Day after his 80th birthday. I wanna go. Maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Owlex:

A girl I knew in highschools' mom was a groupie for Aerosmith, she had pictures to prove it
  6:24pm Night Al:

@ Matt cheap seat upper back $65
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

I have seen Willie Nelson--it's a fun show to see.
Damn! The price of seeing Rush...
  6:25pm dale:

i saw willie once - he played about 6 bars of every hit he's had strung together. i hated it. tammy wynette put on an AMAZING show, but you can't see her any more
Avatar 6:25pm Clay Pigeon:

Steven Tyler sings the shirt out of that song.
Avatar 6:26pm Clay Pigeon:

I need to listen to some Tammy, Dale.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Muslim, CAUCASIAN guys!!! No way around it, Saudi and/or black wishful-thinking conservative kook talking heads!!
Avatar 6:26pm glenn:

i was thinking after geddy lee threw out the first pitch at the blue jays home opener this year - they should have r.a. dickey play the opening chord for tom sawyer at a concert.
Avatar 6:27pm david_:

@Pete: Dun! Dun! Dun!
Avatar 6:27pm glenn:

man oh man, these girls are stupid.
Avatar 6:27pm Clay Pigeon:

They should have Sawyer Brown play Tom Sawyer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

Homer S: "Well I hope you learned a lesson, boy. Never - trust - anyone..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Owlex:

People who are for guns express hopelessness while those agianst seem more hopeful
  6:28pm dale:

i was three feet from her at the bottom line. she and rosemary clooney were the best shows i ever saw. and renaissance in the mid 70s
  6:28pm Night Al:

Rush had a video of the SCTV dracula dude open their Moving Pictures tour back in the day...
  6:28pm Frank:

It can't happen here. I'm tellin' you my dear, that it can't happen here.
Avatar 6:29pm glenn:

joe flaherty.
Avatar 6:29pm Clay Pigeon:

Glenn - I tried to interview several women, but all declined.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Oh yeah, I drink booze...I can't tell you off the top of my head *what* I'm drinking, but it's legal! ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Matt from Springfield:

(Psst! And btw some things that aren't technically legal as well! Shhh... ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Oh, Frank, you were kidding when you sang that. Silly hippy.
  6:30pm dale:

i think we should require licenses for pressure cookers and stock pots. maybe potato ricers too. but girls should pack heat at will
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):
