Avatar 9:15am Cheri Pi:

Give us the title JS so we can star that ISH.
Avatar 9:16am fred von helsing:

but you also have to reverse the first name so that then it reads zz pot
Avatar 9:16am nah:

that voice sounded a lot like the lady from The Siddeleys, is it can be her in any way?

Avatar 9:19am Cheri Pi:

B23! Welcome to Jason's show.
Avatar 9:20am glenn:

excellent backtracking, b23.
Avatar 9:20am Cheri Pi:

No, DCP- you want track 4, baby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am braveness23:

Thank you @glenn but before I accept your compliment I think we should ask Jason if I have his forgiveness. No need to high-five when Jason is off crying in the corner.

Swag For Life Member 9:44am Ralphine:

You mean your name isn't really Turnip Druid?!?
Avatar 9:45am Cheri Pi:

Let me get lost in your segues.
Avatar 9:50am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ordained as Turnip Druid. There was a ceremony that I don't remember. It involved absinthe, a harem of "assistants" and a moon-bounce filled with vindaloo. Or so they tell me.
Avatar 9:52am Cheri Pi:

Speaking of the Vindaloo, it's Indian for lunch today so I'll be a wee bit tardy and reeking of deliciousness for DK's show.
Avatar 9:52am stingy d:

yea i needed some philip glass
Avatar 9:53am glenn:

vindaloo moonbounce is my new band name. we'll do donovan covers.
Avatar 9:53am Rev. Turnip Druid:

No DK today, Pi -- we gets zee Martha! So says most holy homepage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am braveness23:

CP, can you smell my reek this morning? I shared Saag Paneer (spicy 2) with a seven year old last night.
Swag For Life Member 9:54am Ralphine:

I was pretty proud of myself for guessing that Glass wrote the piano music in the movie Stoker.
Avatar 9:54am Cheri Pi:

Oh I get it!!!! Ok, well she's just gonna have to wait for the Pi before she plays Voivod.
Avatar 9:54am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Mattar paneer over here. Still reekin' happily.
Avatar 9:55am andymorphic:

@glenn....what is it with you and indian food?
Avatar 9:55am Cheri Pi:

I wasn't going to say anything B23, but since you brought it up- it never hurts to chew on somma those fennel seeds as a courtesy.
Avatar 9:55am dc pat:

THERE he is...I'm with stingy. Glass sounds good.
Swag For Life Member 9:56am Ralphine:

I ate one of those Amy's Organic frozen Indian dinners last night, but I don't remember which one it was.
Avatar 9:56am glenn:

i didn't start it this time. but i do love some good indian food, i will not deny it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am braveness23:

I tried that, CP. I think my reek may be chronic. Comes from years of malai kofta (spicy 9).
Avatar 9:57am andymorphic:

now i have to stop and get motherindia on the way home....which is now a bad thing
Avatar 9:57am Cheri Pi:

I love those frozen Amy's in a pinch Ralphine. the Tofu muttar (sp) is my fave.
Avatar 9:58am Cheri Pi:

Oh, are we braggin about our Spicy Levels now? I'm an 8 ouuta 10 if you must know.
But this place we go is 1-6 so I get 5 or 6.
Avatar 9:59am dc pat:

dang...no good Indian near by. There is a cart though. Might try
Avatar 9:59am hamburger:

yea! faust "beu beu. beu beu"

Avatar 10:00am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Zero curry here. Goddamned client office inna suburbs.
Avatar 10:01am Rev. Turnip Druid:

And yes, Arlington IS TOO the bloody suburbs.
Avatar 10:01am Andrea:

This is great! We just had two Blanche Blanche Blanche tracks added to the FMA: freemusicarchive.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am braveness23:

So I've got a question. How do you get your music into the free music archive?
Avatar 10:03am Cheri Pi:

Deep, they make it HOT. B23 I just sent instructions for FMA submitting to my friend yesterday, here ya go: freemusicarchive.org...
Avatar 10:05am Cheri Pi:

I've been thinking about 6 Finger Satellite lately...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am braveness23:

I've read that before but... gosh maybe I'm dumb... I walked away as confused as before. Do you need to find a curator to add you?
Avatar 10:05am stingy d:

dc! www.youtube.com...
Avatar 10:07am Cheri Pi:

Don't think so. But you should tell Liz Berg or Jason right now your issue. They both work/worked there.
Avatar 10:07am Rev. Turnip Druid:

phantoms of yellow-lentil curry and rocket-fuel-strength chili pickle (& onion kulcha) have my empty guts in a headlock now. whimpers.
Avatar 10:07am Andrea:

@Braveness: It's either added by one of our curators or you can e-mail artists @ freemusicarchive dot org your submission and our team will review it. It's helpful if your music is already licensed with Creative Commons, and you have an FMA username to include in the email.
Avatar 10:08am dc pat:

RTD: if you go over a bridge, yer in the suburbs.
Avatar 10:08am Cheri Pi:

Yeah Braveness, get on the ball!
Avatar 10:08am stingy d:

Avatar 10:09am Cheri Pi:

Good one JASON!
Avatar 10:09am kim (germland):

Avatar 10:10am Cheri Pi:

Not on the Isthmus ya don;t DCP. aahhhhhhahahahahaahaahaahaaahaa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am braveness23:

It will happen eventually. Most of what I want to add to the archive is material I recorded 20+ years ago. Really proud of it and would love for it to find its audience and I'm way past thinking I will make any money off of it. Stuff to make Bryce proud! Is Bryce a curator?
Avatar 10:11am Cheri Pi:

RIP Scott Miller!!!
Avatar 10:11am Cecile:

I'm sorry that I didn't sponsor your board this year, but I wanted to go with a weekly show this time.

Avatar 10:11am Cecile:

Avatar 10:14am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Absolutely, DCP. A bridge too far.
Avatar 10:15am Cheri Pi:

Cecile, I sent you some lame attempt at homemade Trenary Toast. It's ok, just not great.
Avatar 10:15am Dr. Goot:

efd did a lovely Scott Miller tribute on the fly last night - www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 10:15am Cecile:

ok, I'll take a look.
Avatar 10:16am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Hello chil... er, Jason.
Avatar 10:16am Chris from DC:

Thanks Dr.
Avatar 10:16am Cheri Pi:

Just throw it out for the squirrels if it's not crunchy enough.
Avatar 10:16am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I could go for an Olneyville New York System right about now.
Avatar 10:17am nah:

Great show so far! Gonna have to catch up on the rest. Thanks Jason Sigal!
Avatar 10:18am stingy d:

Avatar 10:20am Cecile:

oh, you did just fine, Cheri. Just fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Jason Sigal:

hey Cecile, that's a wise choice to adopt a different playlist this year. Which one'd you go for? And wait, so who's in charge here?
Avatar 10:23am Cecile:

I can still be in charge on a volunteer basis.
And I sponsored Diane's Kamikaze Fun Machine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am Mike East:

Good morning, freeformers
Avatar 10:26am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

What is it, like Adopt-a-Highway? You have to hang around and sweep up the playlist from time to time?
Avatar 10:26am stingy d:

this jun miyake reminds me a little of that yoko ono remix collaboration album that came out a few years ago. wish i knew the words she was speaking here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Michele:

Hey Jason! Psyched for your fill-in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am DCE:

kinda weird, that first gunshot went off as I clicked something at work. I wish that would happen more often.
Avatar 10:29am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Michele, you're out of context.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am tim from champaign:

Avatar 10:32am Cheri Pi:

I'm sponsoring BT's show!!!
Avatar 10:33am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I guess I should drop by the station for regular maintenance on the back door I adopted. I mean, my name's on that thing.
Avatar 10:34am Cecile:

I'm here. Had to see the new PSY video.
Avatar 10:35am βrian:

Leaden skies over the isthmus today. Dour greetings, all.
Avatar 10:35am dc pat:

I guess I'm obligated to like this UXA tune...
Avatar 10:35am Cecile:

that also sucks.
Avatar 10:37am dc pat:

huh...Sediment Club sounds suspiciously like Aunt Sally...
Avatar 10:39am Cecile:

Philadelphia Collins I mean.
Avatar 10:39am stingy d:

can you explain where this aunt sally download link can be found??
Avatar 10:40am Dr. Goot:

hah ha Cecile, I got up at 5:30 Sat am to watch the live broadcast on YouTube!
Avatar 10:41am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am G:

Didn't I read somewhere that the North Korean dude wants to blow up PSY so he can replace those billion-plus youtube views with vids of himself in a school production of Grease
Avatar 10:44am Dr. Goot:

I heard Rodman's going back there...
Avatar 10:44am stingy d:

wait- what'd you say about reality breakdown? i totally spaced
Avatar 10:45am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Which Isthmus, Coney Island?
  10:47am common:

man, those drums sound great! never heard this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am tim from champaign:

Spicy food eaters, how do you convince your spicy food providers that you can handle the heat? I get the gringo-midwest-"that's different" bland spice level more often than when I ask for super spicy.
Avatar 10:48am Cecile:

man, Vaz are just hitting it hard of late.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am tim from champaign:

I'm a big fan of Hammerhead but have missed out on Vaz. Better late than never.
Avatar 10:49am Cecile:

My friend who loves hot food says, "Make it ________________ (nationality here), not Minnesota hot."
Avatar 10:50am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Tim: For me it took TIME -- there used to be an indian vegetarian place here called Siddhartha's, after asking for HOT-HOT every time, for years, they finally got it. Ended up just saying "make it family-style" and that worked like a charm...
Avatar 10:50am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I do that. Sometimes I regret it but I'm ok with that risk.
Avatar 10:50am dc pat:

"Thai hot" would be the phrase maybe...
Avatar 10:51am Cecile:

Also, Gorkha Palace, an INdian place near us has four levels - mild, medium, hot and Gorkha hot.
Avatar 10:51am dc pat:

oops, remove previous post--missed the context...
Avatar 10:52am Cecile:

If you order a bland dish, they don't mention Gorkha hot. If you order a dish with a little hot pepper near it, they mention it.
Avatar 10:52am Cheri Pi:

Avatar 10:53am dc pat:

I want Gorkha hot for lunch...I need to keep a bottle of Shriracha at work..
Avatar 10:54am Cheri Pi:

this is badass
Avatar 10:54am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 10:55am still b/p:

As much as I love some Thai and Indian dishes, it can't be anything more than Irish hot or I ball up and whimper. I didn't choose this state of mouth -- it's just whut I got.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Mike East:

man, I used to put shriracha on everything. I gotta pickup a bottle. thanks for the reminder, dc pat.
  10:55am ?:

@Cecile, ever been to Marla's in Southside? She does her Caribbean/Indian food medium, hot, Indian hot, or MARLA's hot (with ghost pepper sauce)
Avatar 10:55am dc pat:

that Pus was Gorkha hot..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am chinchilla:

oops that Marla's recommendation was from me , btw
Avatar 10:56am Cheri Pi:

OO I love a few drops of ghost pepper. just a few.
Swag For Life Member 10:57am Ralphine:

John Gorka is pretty hot, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am tim from champaign:

Great suggestions. I'm going to try "family style" and "(nationality) style".
Avatar 10:57am dc pat:

I'm somewhere in between still b/p and RTD/Cecile as far as the hot goes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am Mike East:

I'm afraid of ghost peppers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am chinchilla:

ghost peppers are truly something to fear and respect, and can show you new sensations if used properly... or improperly too, its just not gonna be fun
Avatar 10:58am EmoGothTeen:

When's the next Red Hot Chili Pepper's track queued up for? I want some OLD school shit, like Californiacation, yeah man.
Avatar 10:59am EmoGothTeen:

Whoa this posting system is ancient, I like it!
Avatar 11:00am Cecile:

never been to Marla's or Harry's. I'd like to try it, but I'd probably get it kind of winpy.
Avatar 11:00am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Yeh, I'm not into super-macho mega-hot, it just happened over time. There was a place in Tucson that did a solid vegetarian vindaloo, and that was the one that kicked the door in. Not just HOT, but balanced & beautiful. No turning back after that.
Avatar 11:00am dc pat:

gotta go to a useless meeting...bye. Hanx Jason.
Avatar 11:01am Cecile:

No podcast?
  11:21am Woo:

Today's news: Providence police are investigating two overnight car fires in the city's Olneyville section. Only two. That's pretty good.
Swag For Life Member 11:22am Ralphine:

I wonder if John Munroe had a Roman method incident after eating all those wieners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Ike:

Tim@10:48, at a Thai restaurant, you can say "pet pet," which means "very spicy." That's not always 100% effective but it helps.
Swag For Life Member 11:24am Ralphine:

I'd be afraid that they would serve me a dog, Ike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am tim from champaign:

Ike - excellent.

Is the fuzz sound bass or keyboard?
Avatar 11:25am EmoGothTeen:

@tim from champaign, St. Jacques leRock has a sweet SG lookin bass last I checked.
  11:26am common:

providence! you noisey wonderful fucker!

If the unassailable Wikipedia is to be believed, some do, but apparently there is a big backlash against it:
Avatar 11:33am EmoGothTeen:

Fucking righteous new england accents, making me miss boston right now whoa
  11:34am Woo:

I love the accents.
  11:36am common:

providence was the best place to live as a musician. the most eclectic and open place for music! bless you. miss it.
Avatar 11:37am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The Safari Lounge was amazing. Big python in a tank that if you were lucky would get fed a rat. Better to watch than a lot of the bands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Ike:

My understanding is that the numbers are so minuscule as to be insignificant. And when someone is ignorant enough to suggest that a Thai restaurant in the U.S. would be foolish enough to serve such a thing which would completely destroy their business, or makes a nonsensical comment about the word "spicy" somehow magically transmuting into an order for dog, I get ticked off.
Avatar 11:40am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Well, the dogs in Olneyville are worth the trip.
Avatar 11:41am EmoGothTeen:

Video of Dan's firey Landed performance piece, can you smell it too?
Avatar 11:42am Parq:

Enjoyed listening to their accents. The regional accent is a dying thing in this television-ruled country.
Avatar 11:44am EmoGothTeen:

Ike, find the chillzone
Swag For Life Member 11:49am Ralphine:

How about cats, then?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Ike:

Not gonna happen. See, this is usually a place where we go to talk about unusual and/or spicy food without that usual disgusting ignorance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Ike:

Oh, I get it, we've got a fucking comedian here. Troll scum.
Avatar 11:51am Cecile:

Ike. Take a deep breath.
You are among the restaurant gurus here, what cuisine would you like to try, but haven't yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Jason Sigal:

what EmoGothTeen said, Ike.

Hey it's almost lunch time! Martha is filling in for the Kamikaze Fun Machine this afternoon
Avatar 11:51am Cecile:

I would like to try more Cuban dishes myself.
Avatar 11:53am Cecile:

I tried making the Frugal Gourmet's Moros y Cristianos, but they were too bland.
Avatar 11:53am EmoGothTeen:

I haven't had Sea Urchin yet but my GF (who is Thai :D ) is in love with it
Avatar 11:53am Cecile:

not bland in not spicy, but bland in next to no seasoning at alll.
  11:53am kathy:

I LOVE THAI FOOD. Than Indian, Mexiican, Ethiopian, Vietnamese, anything HOT cha cha
I like Cha cha records too.
Avatar 11:54am Cecile:

I had bad sea urchin, Emo. It tasted like Jell-O pudding with fish. I'm told the closer to the sea the better it is. I hope so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am DCE:

bye Jason, glad to hear ya!
Avatar 11:57am EmoGothTeen:

Cecile, thanks for the tip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am chinchilla:

always love to hear a surprise Talk's Cheap nowadays, thanks Jason!
Avatar 11:57am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Now debating lunch -- chili dog, or Thai? My stomach awaits my answer with dread and resignation.
Avatar 11:58am EmoGothTeen:

Great show Jason! Many thanks and praises be with you!
Avatar 11:58am EmoGothTeen:

Pete, Thai, Drunken noodles!
  11:59am kathy:

Go for THAI
Avatar 11:59am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I'm in a low-Thai part of NJ now, but may make a little trip.
Avatar 12:00pm Cecile:

I LOVE hotdogs.
They are in my top 5 things to eat ever.
Avatar 12:01pm Cecile:

Great show, Jason!
Avatar 12:01pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):
