  12:05pm
Dervish:

You're playing something by Little Sun Ra?! (If only there were such a fellow.)
  12:06pm
Doug S.:

Kind of like that amazing street performer in Chicago who goes by the name Little Howling Wolf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Jeff G:

Love that it sounds like some kind of ping pong game is going on in the background...
  12:11pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Hello jeffs and all the listeners. Merry christmas.
  12:12pm
Uncle Michael:

Call me Yapping Purse-dog.

  12:14pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm going to need to track down the Qualities "Singles."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Jeff G:

Yeah, that's not so clear, is it. It's the Sun Ra Singles disc (as you no doubt know!).
  12:18pm
Uncle Michael:

I did not know! Doubt!
  12:26pm
Uncle Michael:

I came across a surprising bit of Carla Bley on Youtube yesterday...from 1975...a television appearance by a band she was in with Mick Taylor and Jack Bruce....top of my head I'm not recalling the drummer or second keyboard player.
  12:34pm
bgporter:

Current status: wrapping presents, sad that I tuned in too late to hear some of Escalator over the Hill. (first Carla I ever checked out)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Jeff G:

So...just scouring the internet for Bley marginalia, Uncle Michael? Finished your shopping early, I see...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Jeff G:

Have been gorging on United Front and related music lately. Finding it very nourishing! There's much great stuff here: bit.ly...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Jeff G:

Hey, bgporter: will there be breakdancing with that wrapping?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Jeff G:

Bummer news alert: so no one told us that Marva Whitney had passed. RIP to the second major Whitney this year! Here's Marva: www.youtube.com...
  12:48pm
Brian in UK:

god rest ye merry Jeffs. Crudsville here on the wevver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jeff G:

Sorry to hear it, Brian. Hope we can bring you some sonic cheer...
  12:51pm
bgporter:

Breakdancing? I hardly know her! Wait, that doesn't work. Shoot.
  12:53pm
Martha:

Who is playing on this one? I love these Center of the World releases.
  12:55pm
Brian in UK:

Just been reading The Crack Up by F Scott Fitzgerald. They do suffer for their art. Loved 'Ring' the short story 'bout Ring Lardner. Used to have his short stories on boxing & baseball.
Baseball is Indian, football ain't (Roxy Gordon)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Jeff G:

@Martha: that's the great Bobby Few, piano; Alan Silva, bass; Muhammad Ali, drums!
  1:01pm
Doug S.:

Quite shockingly, a blog shared that Frank Wright album over six years ago and the download links STILL WORK!

  1:03pm
Doug S.:

@Brian in UK
Anyone who works Ring Lardner and Roxy Gordon references into one comment is way OK in my book.
  1:08pm
bgporter:

Is the rest of that Nilsson et al record as good as that? That was killing me.
  1:17pm
Uncle Michael:

The last two sets have functioned admirably as the ensemble for my Concerto for Streaming Audio and Carpet Shampooer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
Jeff G:

@Doug S.: it's a Christmas miracle!
@bgporter: not quite, but it's all pretty solid. I think we played a different track in an earlier program..
@Uncle Michael: We aim to please. And I think you missed a spot.
  1:31pm
Doug S.:

@Jeff G
Have you gone through the archive pages at that Nothing Is blog? Amazing stuff and much of it STILL ACCESSIBLE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Jeff G:

@Doug S.: Yeah, I was keeping up with him while he was a going concern, and think I scooped up most of those at the time...
  1:36pm
Doug S.:

I am making a list and checking it twice...
