'Tis a dream come true....
  6:01am
Matt from Springfield:

Morning Meghan!

So...what's this Dave B tells me about a "Pants Off Dance Off" here? ;)
  6:02am
Dave B:

I dreamed that I sent you some songs. But then I woke up and realized I didn't
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04am
meghan:

I had MORE than enough Dave! Didn't even get to fully pull all the requests!
  6:04am
Dave B:

What's that kid dreaming of? Uppers, downers, poppers and doobies?

Good morning everyone
  6:06am
Matt from Springfield:

Morning Dave and Chuck!

"If you can DREAM it, we can stream it!"
  6:07am
Matt from Springfield:

OMG! Is there a Vera here?! "When I'm Sixty-Four"!!

I still wish there will be a band called "Vera, Chuck and Dave"!
  6:08am
Chuck:

Was there any particular inspiration for this theme, Meg? You could have done this one a while ago....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am
meghan:

I thought I had done it already! And then I realized nope! But you could say that about any of my themes!
  6:10am
Chuck:

Ah, Patsy... Did she ever record a bad song? I think NOT!
  6:11am
Matt from Springfield:

Go Patsy!
@Chuck: You are CORRECT, sir!
  6:11am
Dave B:

I just picked up 12 fl. oz of inspiration...

@meghan: Maybe you just dreamed that you did a show on dreams, and thought you did one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13am

I think you may be right Matt....
  6:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Right before you were hanging artwork with pierre! ;)
  6:15am
Matt from Springfield:

@Dave: Ha, I like how NyQuil's admitted the inevitable, that some take it just to sleep! But if they removed their quality medications from the ZZZQuil mix, I hope it's at least cheaper!
  6:17am
Matt from Springfield:

"WARNING: We KNOW what you're thinking. Your kids are being annoying. We know, that's what kids do. But that's just what you put up with. Do NOT give this to your kids! More than occasionally, anyway..."
  6:17am
Dave B:

I'll let you know next week Matt.

I love the Q - Original green death flavor. The Z is only available in kid friendly grape.
  6:19am
Matt from Springfield:

Congrats, BadGuyZero!
A lot you can do with Texas. Don't forget Ray Price, friend of Willie!
  6:20am
Dave B:

I wonder what these two are dreaming of...

  6:21am
Matt from Springfield:

@Dave: I love the "green death" flavor too! Because it's a good signifier--if you can't fully taste it, then you need NyQuil! If you can taste how awful it is, then you don't need it anymore! Brilliant!

  6:31am
Dave B:

Chuck - I'm going to snail mail one to Elwyn.
  6:33am
Chuck:

You just gave me an idea. Think I'll print one out and snail mail it to the Pope, Dave...
  6:35am
Elwyn:

Wake up sleepy heads!

I cannot remember what I dream about; well, maybe sometimes. I think I'm dreaming now . . . good heavens where am I?
  6:37am
Dave B:

Matt from Springfield:

Elwyn! Greets to you!
  6:38am

I dream about Rush; how about you Dave B?
  6:39am
Elwyn:

I think I only just noticed the dog on the WFMU banner is wagging its tail... or did I dream that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am
meghan:

Yep! That is what I have been waiting for this whole time! I like to watch him wag his tail.... it's so cute!
  6:41am
Dave B:

I dream of an all Rush Covers show. Three hours of Rush songs not performed by Rush

Mike Patton?
  6:46am
Dave B:

so.... by that deduction we should get your co-workers to play Rush all the time!
  6:47am
Elwyn:

Oh, shit. My co-workers are probably sick of Galaxie 500 and Yo La Tengo now...
  6:48am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I never got into Faith No more. But boy did I love, I tell you L-O-V-E, Mr. Bungle.

Crowded House!
Hi BGZ! Congrats!
  6:49am

Off the top of my head ZZ Top has "LaGrange" which is the city where my son was born.
  6:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@Elwyn: NO ONE is sick of Yo La Tengo! No one.
  6:49am
Chuck:

Oh, my 80s!
  6:50am
Dave B:

There's a local at the watering hole who plays the same goddamned lame tunes EVERY time he comes in. With the handy iPod app I can now trump him without walking up to the jukebox.

Biz Markie anybody?
  6:50am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Hey Matt from Springfield! Thank you. Thank you. :)

Yay Drunk listening!!!! Hello Groucho!
  6:53am
Dave B:

Meghan - that's a YouTube playlist I've assembled in anticipation of a Rush Coup!
  6:54am
groucho:

Hello Meghan. I love you
  6:54am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Dave B: The bar I used to frequent had a Mumford & Sons CD in their jukebox. One guy would play it numerous times every night. My immense hatred of Mumford & Sons was born because of it. Eventually everyone grew sick and tired of M&S so the CD went bye bye. That guy has rarely been seen since.
  6:55am
duke:

Last week I had a dream about the Cake song Short Skirt Long Jacket. It was pretty odd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
meghan:

See!!!! Songs can be ruined by overplaying!!!

Duke, did you dream you were wearing a short skirt and long jacket while listening to that song in the dream?
  6:56am
Elwyn:

I haven't listened to Mumford & Sons. Is it okay to avoid a band if they have a band name as awful as that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57am
meghan:

Yes, it totally is.... I do it all the time..... ha
  6:58am
Matt from Springfield:

@Elwyn: In principle, I wouldn't avoid any band by their "cover" (band name). But the results I've heard from M&S tell me that you could easily go through life without listening to them.
  6:58am
Dave B:

.... I'm still dreaming of a proper Rush show though...

Hey - Messica might dig these:

http://publiccollectors.tumblr.com/search/+Frank+Netter

I like the "choking at the table" one...
  6:59am
Dave B:

The Rev! - what night are you going Meghan?
  6:59am
duke:

@meghan No it was an intense argument about whether the lyrics were "Short Skirt Long Jacket" or "Long Jacket Short Skirt"
  7:01am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Mumford & Sons : folk :: Nickelback : rock
  7:02am
Dave B:

@BGZ - the bartender once asked my to play something to make a group of a-holes leave. So I played this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwGJ5VxFjI8
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am
meghan:

Dave, she's a huge fan of Netter... very famous in the medical illustration world
  7:03am
Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Very good comparison, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
meghan:

Dave B- our show is Saturday night at Irving Plaza.... you?
  7:05am
Dave B:

Yup! Lets meet up for bevs somewhere!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
meghan:

definitely! Though the only bar I know off hand near there is horrible..... I used to live down the street from there and now it's all changed!
  7:07am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Dave B: At the first comic book shop I worked at this was what we would play to get people to leave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rne-xtCILE

A couple of minutes into the track there's some frequency manipulation going on. At times you can't hear it but you can feel it. It's headache inducing. There are moments when it drops low enough to be heard and it becomes unpleasant on an aural level.
  7:07am
Dave B:

(unfortunately my favorite joint near Irving Plaza is long gone) 119 E 13th Street.

I'll do some research.
  7:09am
Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Infrasound!
  7:09am
Dave B:

KRISTALNACHT!

Excellent. Didn't the wrapper (or the obi) on the disk have a warning that it uses frequencies that may damage your hearing?
  7:12am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Dave B: There's a warning in the booklet. I scoffed at it. Much like I did when I was handed earplugs going into a My Bloody Valentine show a few years ago. I paid dearly in both instances.

Hmm...I should give a listen to that Zorn track and see how my tinnitus reacts to it.
  7:14am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I haven't seen RevHo in many years.
  7:14am
Elwyn:

@BadGuyZero:
How was MBV live? They are coming to Australia in February. I haven't bought tickets yet and can't afford it right now.
  7:14am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Anybody else singing Hall & Oates right now?
  7:16am
Dave B:

@BGZ - for just such an emergency:

http://callinoates.com
  7:18am
Sean:

Please play teenage dream by T Rex!
  7:18am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Elwyn: They're great live! And very, VERY loud. It was so loud the sound created a breeze. They literally made the earth shake. The holocaust coda during "You Made Me Realise" lasted about 25 minutes. That was a shorter one. A friend saw them in Chicago and she said it lasted for about 45 minutes at that show.
  7:20am
Elwyn:

I keep a dream diary on my smartphone. It takes a while to type up all the details because in my dreams, there is context that I just know but isn't stated.

I wonder where the faces of the the strangers I meet in my dreams come from. Whether they are real etc?
  7:21am
Dirty Old Man:

Dreamt I got on a bus and Lonny Donegan sat down next to me.
  7:21am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Speaking of MBV...I wonder if Meghan has "(When You Wake) You're Still In A Dream" on standby.
  7:21am
Dave B:

I dream of dreaming about dreams..
  7:21am
Chuck:

Probably one of the catchiest pop songs ever....
  7:22am
V:

I used to have a recurring dream every year around halloween where I was a skeleton and I'd look down at my arms and then up at the KFC across the street and try to run towards it... which usually ended up with me waking up because I got scared.
  7:24am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Elwyn: I loved the MBV show so much that I was trying to figure out a way to go to the Seattle show a few days later. It didn't happen as airfare prices were much to high on such short notice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24am
meghan:

Oh V.... that one is odd! Wonder why you'd be running to the KFC?! Like you needed to put meat on your bones?! ha...

I did have MBV on the list at one point.... but it really isn't their best. I saw them back in the day (1992). They were amazing, but like BGZ said- I felt a breeze the whole time
  7:28am
Chuck:

Roy, oh boy! "Sha-da-da-da"
  7:33am
Chuck:

Ha! My former band "The Sugar Beats" would cover this song...
  7:35am
Dave B:

If I had a recurring dream of a recursive dream that'd be kinda neat!
  7:37am
Haley Joel Osment:

I hear dead people.
  7:38am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Can you fit in "Dreams I'll Never See" from Molly Hatchet?
  7:39am
stevoUK:

I heard someone the other day describe sleeping/dreaming as ''been in the arm's of Morpheus'' which i think is such a wonderfully evocative term, every night since i go to bed hoping to be transported to some sort of Faustian underworld....
it's not really working....
wish i could dream about eating chilli with Meghan in her whimsical beach house......dreaming about dreaming.

Oddly, I rarely remember my dreams. Makes me wonder if I even have any....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am

I've already got my patented chili sauce made, Meg!
  7:42am
V:

for the death show deep purple does a cover of hey joe on their debut...
  7:43am
Elwyn:

Do Evil Bradys dream of electric sheep?
  7:44am
Chuck:

Hum... "Movement" could well make it's way into my CD player later today....
  7:46am
Chuck:

Most likely, yes, Elwyn. Anatomically correct electric sheep...
  7:46am
stevoUK:

Back off Chuck....the chilli was my idea !!

Kitty! You know I am not going to NOT play that! Yay!

ha! Good one Elwyn!!!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Meghan, I'm well familiar with that WVKR punk CD. They have Jet Fighter on there that EFD has played before. I'd like to get a copy of it. They also had a CD that was like 59 minutes of dead air and then a station ID. So they'd play both CDs at the same time on different players to fulfill FCC requirements.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am

Sadly Kitty.... i can. Only because my 20th high school reunion was this past weekend, which I did not go to.

Speaking of high school...this Heart song makes me think of high school dances and junior prom. I didn't go to senior prom. Another life decision I do not regret.

One of my fave high school memories was my theatre teacher requesting a student admin position be created for me. For an hour each day I got to listen to music I couldn't listen to at home.

I had a very violent dream last night, I punt kicked a mans head like it was a football. hello Lucy...
  8:12am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

May I ban Steely Dan and The Doors from next week's show? I did spare you a Rush-related theme after all. :)
  8:13am
Jim Devoid:

Yo, been away for a while...with the usual "loud request" - Poison Idea's 'Marked for Life' -
"In my dreams of Death, you were there
The perfect crime, take my final breath
The noose pulls tight, a perfect fit
Swallow me up with your mistrust
There's a monster in my mirror
Dragging me through hell and misery
But when I smash that mirror
It sets me free"
  8:13am
Marmalade Kitty:

I'm really glad I kept my old school tie :D while other kids around me were setting fire to theirs :D crazy days

J. L.:

Hold on tight (to your dreams)
  8:16am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I know some joker will suggest Steely Dan's "Dallas" and/or The Doors' "Texas Radio and the Big Beat." I know that there's some sort of informal Steely Dan ban in effect at FMU but I still hear SD from time to time. :shakes fist at Irwin and Clay Pigeon:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
meghan:

Clay Pigeon always plays the crap you avoid! And he wonders how Fabio wins their music showdowns
  8:21am
Gary dovey:

8.17 and still no Little Feat!
  8:21am
Cheri Pi:

I am proudly a "Dan" fan. But I do not require the greatest station in the nation to play them, that's what grocery stores and clear channel are for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am
meghan:

Gary! of course there isn't! They fall under the Steely Dan, Rush and other boring overly talented musician category
  8:23am

  8:23am
Chuck:

Ken From Hyde Park:

We drove up to RPI the previous weekend and took the scenic route past Bard College. We said "That's where Steely Dan got started." Small world, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am
meghan:

I was up near Bard this past summer..... We spent a night in Hudson on our way back from Montreal
  8:26am

  8:26am
Chuck:

Dave B, how are you at hooking up wireless routers?
  8:27am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Chuck: Phone app and headphones is how I take WFMU around the apartment with me. Someday I'll get the proper headphone-to-RCA thingamajig so I can just blast FMU from my stereo.

  8:33am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@ Dave B: In the early 90s "Spin" did a "history of rock & roll" issue. There was something in it along the lines of "1959: William Burroughs' "Naked Lunch" is published in France. One of the book's characters is a dildo named Steely Dan. Thirteen years later two dildos from New York would form a band with the same name."
  8:34am

I actually woke up wondering if I studied for this test. That's the usual dream.
