Listener comments!

  3:07am
Martyn:

Good morning Bill and all.
Half (?) the scottish contingent didn't make it last week, but the archives got me back on track (so to speak).
  3:11am
Bill Mac:

Hey Martyn, and Anyone Within Ear(Eye)shot... hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Mine started Thursday and it already feels like it's over! Anyway, back to the NEW stuff.
  3:17am
Martyn:

Oh my goodness yes, happy Thanksgiving! (late as usual).
Or were you talking about black Friday?
  3:18am
Brian in UK:

Hello Bill & Martyn.
The Zang Tumb rings a bell with ZTT. Trevor Horn? Italian experimentalists?
  3:22am
Bill Mac:

Black Friday, what an evil invention. I've been taking back roads everywhere just to avoid the major highways and shopping centers. Is the rush already that crazy where you are?
  3:23am
Bill Mac:

Morning Brian, need to research Konx-Om-Pax - apparently out of Glasgow.
  3:24am
Martyn:

Its only crazy where I am in the summer (except in Tesco where its crazy most of the year)
  3:25am
Emile:

Hey Bill, you're off to a flying start. Ignore the crass commercialization...
  3:26am
Jay/ London:

Good Morning Bill and all Black Friday more like Flood Friday here .. is it not record store day today
  3:26am
Brian in UK:

Black Friday. Is that what the Steely Dan song was about?
That makes sense about Konx, Braithwaith was/is in Mogwai out of Glasgow.
  3:29am
Emile:

Man os mutantes were so amazing
  3:32am
Looms:

Hello from rainy Britttany.
  3:32am
Brian in UK:

@Jay wish we HAD a fuckin' record store in Watford.
  3:33am
Bill Mac:

Looms, Emile y Jay - que tal?!
  3:34am
Stanley:

Good morning Bill. Hi everyone.
  3:34am
Emile:

Irish coffees and Bill Mac, thats whats up
  3:36am
Brian in UK:

Do not go down to the basement.
  3:40am
Jay/ London:

there are not many left here in London .. but you can mail order brian Think this is the best shop in the uk http://www.roughtrade.com/ hope it helps Brian
  3:44am
Jay/ London:

coming over the last week of may Bill :)
  3:45am
Brian in UK:

Thanks Jay, Honest Jons is good but there is nothing like one round the corner with someone you can chew the fat with about music.
  3:47am
Stanley:

Bill - does Monica own a record store in New York? I vaguely remember hearing that she did.
  3:47am
Jay/ London:

@ Brian London is not far From Watford i will be going to rough trade for record store day this weekend if the fog high wind and rain does not stop me
  3:49am
KP:

John Cale! I got some kind of vintage VU thing toda at Black FRiday Record Store Day.
  3:51am
Brian in UK:

@Stanley I believe she had a connection with Tommy Boy Records.
Swans are back over early April.
  3:52am
Bill Mac:

KP! There you go fellas! Is Black Friday when they do record Store Day?.
@Stanley I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't know. I know her resume includes having a hand in Tommy Boy Records and getting Queen Latifah out to the masses.
  3:52am
Bill Mac:

Yep, what Brian said.... Swans again huh... brilliant.
Avatar 3:55am
M:

Record Store Day is now done twice a year .... the first was in April
  3:56am
Bill Mac:

Thanks M. I gotta get out more
  3:59am
Jay/ London:

yeah the next one is the 20th Aprill
  4:01am
KP:

I got everything that was not John Mayer. Yeah i was surprised but when i saw a Gene Clark single i had to check in. I think the discs from last one are still in back seat of my car.
  4:03am
Jay/ London:

what did the universe give you Bill ?
  4:04am
Looms:

Record Store Day is "Disquaire Day" in France (strange translation); 20th of april too.
Brilliant set, Bill!
  4:04am
Brian in UK:

@KP did Gene Clark ever deliver on the solo albums for you?
  4:05am
KP:

Deliver? Gene Clark?
  4:06am
Officer Pupp:

Wow, that Fantasm B track was brilliant.
Avatar 4:07am
Bill Mac:

Thank you KP for your pledge and continued support. Much appreciated!!!
  4:09am
Officer Pupp:

Classical music riffing on the Godzilla theme!
  4:11am
Stanley:

Swans are one of the few originals around.
  4:12am
Officer Pupp:

You're totally right, Swans are the best live band in the world at the moment. I saw them in Leeds in 2010 and they were mind-blowing.
  4:13am
Brian in UK:

KP I meant the touch of genius he had when he wrote the early Byrds material seemed to diminish through the solo records.
  4:15am
Brian in UK:

Well Officer Pupp you can see them on 5th April in Leeds next year.
  4:15am
Bill Mac:

How did any of the post Byrds solo material fare after the ybroke up - aside from Crosby Stills Nash of course?
  4:19am
Jay/ London:

great drumming on this
  4:21am
Brian in UK:

Personal opinion, McGuinn solos started OK and faded. Hillman played the field with Manasass & Desert Rose Band. Crosby thanked The Byrds for firing him & joined CSN, then got even more wasted.
  4:22am
Bill Mac:

Anton Fier (the drummer and founder of Golden Palominos) was an early member of The Lounge Lizards and The Feelies. Also worked with David Thomas of Pere Ubu
  4:24am
Bill Mac:

I saw an American Masters (PBS shown here in the states) on David Geffen yesterday and Crosby was there to make a few comments. Can't believe he's still alive... btw Larry Hagman's dead.
  4:25am
Jay/ London:

Fier also played with bassist Jack Bruce and guitarist Kenji Suzuki on the 1987 album Inazuma Super Session - "Absolute Live!!"
  4:26am
Brian in UK:

The Velvets made this sound like a pop song.
  4:33am
Jay/ London:

yoko I think is very under rated ..
  4:35am
Bill Mac:

I totally agree.... sometimes...
  4:36am
Looms:

This Cyril Aldreds track has become a real hit for me. (Thanks to Dan B)
  4:39am
Jay/ London:

yes Bill and other stuff she does is just not music
  4:40am
Bill Mac:

That he takes the time to forage through our tape library is amazing to me. There were a couple of cuts on his last installment that were head stickers too.
  4:41am
Emile:

thanks for the minutemen
  4:41am
Bill Mac:

awesome.
  4:51am
Stanley:

@Bill - Larry Hagman. Not for the first time.
  4:55am
Bill Mac:

Do tell Stanley - I think he almost bought it in the 90s.
  5:02am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel,Earth,Milky Way):

Hello friends
  5:04am
Andy in Berlin:

Hey Bill, I got a technical question - are you putting up songs on the playlist before you play them or am I living in a time warp?
  5:04am
Stanley:

Didn't he come back from the dead in Dallas?
  5:04am
Bill Mac:

Morning, Yair! Been a little while.
  5:04am
Bill Mac:

Ohhhhhhhh yeeeahhhh!!
  5:05am
AdamB in OR:

on facebook Tom Smith says that Larry Hagman drank 3 bottles of champagne a day.
  5:06am
Stanley:

That's one helluva lot of celebrating.
  5:08am
Bill Mac:

Hey Adam, yeah, I thought that was more of what Stanley was getting at... wasn't bobby killed one year, then they realized it was a dream?
Sorry I seem to have misplaced my man parts...
  5:11am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel,Earth,Milky Way):

@Bill Yeah, I was out for couple of months but I'm in the middle of a comeback ;)
  5:18am
Bill Mac:

Comebacks are always good. Things quiet over there?
  5:19am
Stanley:

Has everyone filled out the FMU online listening survey yet? I think we all should to say how important the online services are for us. You also get a chance to name the worst track you have heard played. It can be found on the homepage.
  5:20am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel,Earth,Milky Way):

@Bill- sort of a cease fire, but things will never be over with this conflict. The gap is just too big and all leaders are way top cowards to bridge it. When someone almost managed to bridge it,they shot him in 1994. Oh man
  5:21am
Jay/ London:

@ stanley oh I have not seen it I will do it this weekend
  5:21am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel,Earth,Milky Way):

I was loyal and filled the survey !
  5:22am
Bill Mac:

@Yair - Wow, stay safe man...
I hope I played the worst song you heard here, but I doubt it:(
  5:24am
Emile:

hey y'all heard the man - last week to show support to Bill, pledge up if you haven't!
  5:24am
AdamB in OR:

Maybe if you played the band Train instead of this song called Train.
  5:26am
Jay/ London:

just done survey :)
  5:28am
Bill Mac:

I hear you, Adam. Maybe we can play some Eagles before we're done today. Whadaya say... hello? Is this thing on? Yeah folks, minutes away til the end - get yourself some unique swag for your gift to the station. All support has been extremely appreciated.
  5:29am
Bill Mac:

Actually the worst thing I heard recently was an Al Kooper thing I threw on about 2 months ago. Too long too mellow...
  5:29am
Stanley:

Of course not, Bill. Brian Turner has that honour.
Now my tastes are very broad and I have a lot of time for sound compositions, experimental etc but this freaked me out.
Check out Language Removal Services
http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/47437
It still gives me the creeps.
  5:32am
AdamB in OR:

I would love to listen to a show off all the songs that people that people voted the worst in the survey.
  5:32am
Bill Mac:

I'll check this later... saw your comment already - looks like you let him know immediately!
  5:33am
Bill Mac:

@AdamB Yeah, but they'd have to be reeeeallly bad!
  5:34am
Jay/ London:

Why is there not " what is the best song you have heard on wfmu" question
  5:36am
Stanley:

@ Jay - could anyone answer that? Maybe the best song you heard today...
  5:41am
Jay/ London:

@ stanley well I could not think of the worse one so maybe that question should not be there
  5:43am
Bill Mac:

Maybe that question is asked because a bad impression is more lasting than a good one
  5:48am
AdamB in OR:

I answered it with "maybe a Death Cab for Cutie song on Scharpling's show?" whatever that song was didn't make an impression on me though.
  5:54am
Jay/ London:

Thanks Bill see you next week .. now i Wait for the rain and wind to hit
  5:54am
jamesie:

I always weep a bit with this Zevon song x God rest his soul.
  5:55am
AdamB in OR:

this is the first time I have heard this song. It is amazing.
  5:56am
Bill Mac:

I know what you mean Jamesie... you folks keep yourself alive for another week, we'll get together again next week. Be safe!
  5:58am
Stanley:

Well as the bathwater of past pleasures flows into the drain of destiny and the rubber duck left high and dry, faces up to another day we come to the end of another show.
Thank you once again Bill.
Joy to the World indeed!
  5:58am
Looms:

Good vibes, thanks!
