Listener comments!

  6:04am
pierre:

Bonjour Meghan,
Bonjour les *petits* listeners !
("petit" - small - in french could be used as a mark a affection, it's a bit condescending so i'll use it only once to fit the show, and mostly because i've no right to call anybody "petit", or maybe my nephews…)

Oh interesting Pierre.... I never knew it was not a nice thing to say.... I guess for adults, which would make sense!
  6:11am
Relevant Robbie:

I was engaged to a midget when I was 19. she was small...
  6:12am
pierre:

well it's nice, but not with everybody i guess.

thanks Meghan, for the good rock'n'roll/country - with little Sadie -, this parisian soul here need some healing.
  6:12am
Dave B:

I'm still a little sleepy, does that count?

Morning just the same!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14am
meghan:

oh Pierre.... hope everything is ok..... I am sure I can help the soul today. It's a good show for soul healing!
  6:17am
Dave B:

Pierre - my older brother (who has passed away some years ago) was technically James Junior. But he had the nickname T.J. - from the Haitian Creole for pe"T"it "J"ames.

Music can cure most that ails you...
  6:17am
pierre:

yep, everything's ok. Just a bit moody/nostalgic that's all. But tonight i'm going to feel that void with live music, friends and beers.
  6:18am
Dave B:

and if music cant cure most of what ails you, I'm sure some Ale can!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18am
meghan:

oh who are you seeing?!
  6:22am
pierre:

i'm going to see :
- CAVE (usa)
- ORCHESTRA OF SPHERES (new zealand)
- JESSICA 93 (parisian suburbs)
- SHAKE SHAKE BOLINO (paris)

i'm specially going there for CAVE and Orchestra of Sphere. Will see how it'll turn out.
  6:23am
Dave E.:

Small Greetings Mehgan!
  6:26am
pierre:

Sad music can totally heals a lot to.
Love Tom Waits when i'm in autumn mood.
  6:26am
Dave B:

funny - from my experiences in Japan I was told that the people who you see wearing those surgical masks on the streets are the ones who have colds. They wear them out of respect for others and to prevent the spreading of those germs.
  6:26am
Dave E.:

Excellent choice with the Tom Waits! Perfect for a gloomy Thursday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27am
meghan:

good morning Dave E!

Oh have fun! I just scored myself some free tickets to see Fatoumata Diawara (Mali) tomorrow night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29am
meghan:

Dave B- Yep, which is extremely polite. It just still freaks me out, just like the people who cross themselves before a plane takes off..... like they know something I don't....
  6:31am
Simon:

Morning Meghan Daves E, B hamburger Robbie et Pierre. Hooray for Nick Cave! I saw Fatoumata back in Feb in London. Blooming marvellous she was - you'll love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32am
meghan:

Morning Simon! Ohhhh, good to hear! I am excited for it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33am
meghan:

Dave B- I was supposed to Dropbox some band for you, but had a brain fart... which one was it? Do Make Say Think?
  6:34am
Dave B:

Oh yeah! Thanks Meghan!

"you'll never find...."
  6:34am
Dave E.:

Ok Mehgan, did you choose the song "One little Victory" by . . . . .. . .Rush?
  6:36am
Dave B:

I'm diggin this set big time. Nice and melancholy
  6:36am
pierre:

Fatoumata Diawara, cool, have a great gig !
  6:36am
Simon:

As well as her amazing voice and brillinat songs she has a properly tight backing band. You'll be shaking your ass as I believe you Americans say.
  6:38am
Simon:

Has anyone ever raised the idea of UWTP bingo? I wouldn't like to trivialise your art Meghan but it might be one for the next fundraiser.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40am
meghan:

Ohhhhh, I am intrigued. I like games.... how do you propose this?!
  6:42am
Dave B:

have the themes as the values for the bingo spaces?

http://print-bingo.com

A bingo card generator. I still hope you'll consider round two of mix tape swap...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am
meghan:

Oh I am totally doing mix tape swap again! That was fun!

But would it be bingo in one theme? It could be bands.... Like who gets played a lot....
  6:45am
Simon:

The theme is set - you pull together a playlist (in top secret obviously). Ahead of the show, your loyal listeners pick 6 songs they think are likely to appear (if there's a relevant nick cave song - it's got to be on the list if there's a Tindersticks one maybe less so). first one to tick off all 6 songs on their list based on what you play (assuming they all appear) shouts "House" on the comments board.
  6:46am
Simon:

Maybe each listener has to mail you the 6, so you have proof of a legitimate full house. But right before the show starts so it doesn't influence your choice of playlist.
  6:48am
Simon:

You charge us twenty bucks to be in. We get something as a prize if we win. Doesn't have to be 6 by the way.
  6:49am
Simon:

I'm thinking too hard about this now aren't I? I'll get back to the day job.
  6:50am
Dave B:

might be a little simpler to guess the bands rather than songs. I know how expansive her music library is.
  6:54am
Dave B:

HEY! - How about an UWTP karaoke meet up for the local gang?

Maybe you can strike a deal with the people at Arlene's Grocery?
http://www.arlenesgrocery.net/karaoke/index.html

or a more punk rock / metal vibe?
http://www.punkmetalkaraoke.com
  6:54am
Dave E.:

Expensive?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55am
meghan:

Hmmmm, I will look into that Dave.... that could be fun!
  6:56am
Chuck:

Otis! My man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
meghan:

Yeah, I wouldn't charge to do it....

Ha! As Chuck slides on in to the OTIS!
  6:59am
Chuck:

Dave B usually grabs that line....
  6:59am
Dave B:

"Mind if we dance wif yo dates?"
  7:01am
Dave B:

And check the list of songs Punk Metal Karaoke have in their repertoire

Rush - Limelight
Rush - Red Barchetta
Rush - Spirit of Radio
Rush - Working Man
  7:02am
Chuck:

What story is the illustration from, Meg? Do you know?

Oh, guess who's mold I was waxing up yesterday?! Pat's! The old white silicone rubber.... still going strong. I liked that stuff
  7:06am
Chuck:

I only asked because the cat's expression is wrong. That's not the look on a cat's face when hunting. Believe me I know!
  7:08am
Dave B:

HAHA -

Wasa just browsing a blog I follow during this Hendrix track

Serendipity Doo!

http://mudwerks.tumblr.com/post/32375126989
  7:08am
Chuck:

Ha, really? Think that stuff was Smooth-Sil. Yeah, it was good, but you could screw up a mix because there was no pigment in the catalyst...
  7:10am
Simon:

yeah, sorry the charge was only if it was a fundraiser thingy.
  7:11am
Chuck:

I'll be making waxes myself today of one of Gwen Marcus' pieces I just molded... (much as I hate making waxes. Work is scarce these days.)
  7:11am
Simon:

That could work - you make up the bingo cards knowing what's in the show and we pick them at random.
  7:12am
Dave B:

I have a version of the "Gigantor" theme song done by Helmet for ya!
  7:13am
pierre:

@Dave B, do you from which movie/serie this quote is extract ?
  7:16am
Dave B:

Freeks and Geeks Pierre. I think episode one.

I turned station manager Ken onto that blog, as there are usually a lot of fun animated GIFs...
  7:17am
pierre:

Freaks and Geeks… of course. thanks for the link.
  7:21am
Chuck:

Hey, I saw The Staggers a few years back at Cave Stomp in Brooklyn. They were great!
  7:24am
Andrew "Dice" Clay:

Little Boy Blue

He needed the money

OH!
  7:30am
Dave E.:

Oh no, not little red riding hood. Grandma, what tiny teeth you have.
  7:31am
Dave B:

@Chuck - from the Wikipedia entry for Tom Thumb -

The court goes hunting and Tom joins them upon his steed, a mouse. A cat catches the mouse and Tom is injured. He is carried to Fairyland where he recovers and dwells for several years.
  7:31am
Dave B:

"I brought ya this picnic basket... TA HAVE!"
  7:34am

'morning Meghan
Love this version...Sam the Sham...
What a blast from the past!
Glad youre feeling better this week. Stay well.
  7:35am

And if this isn't on the "bass lines" list, it should be.
  7:37am

George Baker! Thank you, thank you very much!
  7:37am
Chuck:

Speaking of hungry cats, G'Kar wants some breakfast. Back in a minute...
  7:45am
Chuck:

Gloomy? It's clearing up and looks like it'll be a nice day here....
  7:46am
Dave B:

Now THIS is a song to perform at Lee's Hawaiian!!!
  7:47am
Chuck:

Dave B, what year did Don Ho have a variety TV series? I remember it....
  7:49am
Dave B:

76~77. I remember it too!
  7:51am
Dave B:

ABC I think, there were a few sitcoms from the time that cross pollenated as guests on the show...
  7:51am
Chuck:

Nothing says Hawaiian like the name Felix Mendelssohn....
  7:53am
Chuck:

Some how I thought the show was eariler. But my memory has become quite a mish-mosh....
  7:54am
Dave B:

aloha!

http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/reviews/2005/ltgc3-01/wackiki.jpg
  7:55am
Dave B:

His Hawaiian review show was going on for years, but the Don Ho Show hit national airwaves then. His sitcom appearances were from earlier years like The Lucy Show, I Dream Of Jeanie etc...
  7:59am
Simon:

There could be a bonus square on the bingo card - a double points score nuclear winner takes all box - which you win if you correctly predict the obscure mid to late 70s sit-com/minor celebrity/movie quote which Dave and Chuck discuss in any given show...!
  8:02am
Chuck:

The box of obsurity can be possessed by anyone, Simon! hehe....
  8:03am
Simon:

That sounds like something Lao Tzu should have said Chuck.!
  8:05am
Chuck:

Ooops, dropped a "c" there. As I like to put it "I'm a veritable treasure trove of completely useless information."....
  8:06am
Simon:

"“Strip yourself of your proud airs and numerous desires, your complacent demeanor and excessive ambitions. They won’t do you any good. This is all I have to say you. Oh apart from one other thing - The box of obscurity can be possessed by anyone. That really is everything, now sod off and leave me in peace.”
  8:07am
Dave B:

@Chuck - or dropped a "d"

:-)
  8:07am
Geoff:

Ringing in the summertime here in Australia to these fine fine tunes
  8:08am

Or, "I am the sad victim of a liberal arts education." hehe...
