Love-Itis is a potent, contagious disease in soul music.

Hey Joe! Happy to say your package has arrived, and I am now 100% fulfilled on WFMU premiums! Danke schon, Herr Svagmeister!

There was tornadoes to the north of me--Fairfax to Arlington to DC across to Maryland, nasty storms earlier today.
Avatar 1:40am
Joe McG:

@Matt: Great, swag is complete! Tornadoes are scary! Esp. the Joe Meek ones.
  1:41am
T-Zero:

we had storms last night, then about two hours after it was quiet the power went out... very strange
Avatar 1:43am
Joe McG:

We lost power here at the station today in something of the same way...
  1:44am
Matt from Springfield:

Unusually progressive guitar jazz for '69, sounds more like a later '70s George Benson.
Avatar 1:46am
Joe McG:

Sorry about that, Matt, I screwed up the date. It's actually 1971. That's when the Jackson 5 did it, so that makes more sense!
  1:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: True, though '71 is still kind of ahead of its time, for that style.

What a dramatic (and dare I say French!) single!
Avatar 1:51am
Joe McG:

@Matt: If you liked that, check out Catherine Ribeiro's early 70s recordings. Amazing!
  1:55am
Matt from Springfield:

Will remember that name!
  1:58am
T-Zero:

I like Mireille Mathieu as well

She's just taroting talking points...
  2:33am
Matt from Springfield:

Great Joe South block!
Since you've played him quite a bit while he was alive, call this not a "tribute", but a "commemorative edition"!
Avatar 2:35am
Joe McG:

Well done, Matt! I like it: "The Surface Noise Joe South Commemorative Special."
  2:38am
Brian in UK:

Hello Joe, Matt, T-Zero & devotees. Now the Moonie man has gone we need a new religion.
Thought of your premium when I heard of Joe South's demise, Joe.
  2:38am
KP:

I saw joe south at bottom line, song writers series hosted by vin scelsa. Others on stage, Roger Mcguinn, Pete seeger and Ted Hawkins
  2:39am
T-Zero:

Morning, Brian
Avatar 2:39am
Joe McG:

Hey, Brian! Wow, that's quite flattering. @KP: You one lucky man. He didn't play out much after a certain point. What an amazing group of people.
  2:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Good morning Brian!
Someone pointed out on Moonie's death that, like the Scientologists, the death of a leader doesn't mean the death of a cult.
  2:44am
KP:

Joe south was incredible. Place was packed so we were standing at side of stage, right next to him. He had a presence about him that was gripping. Down in the Boondocks was the highlight
  2:46am
KP:

Unfortunately Hawkins, who was also impressive, died like the next week.
  2:46am
Brian in UK:

There was a good obit in The Times but being Murdoch you have to pay to view digitally.
KP Talking of song writers, we saw Richard Buckner & Doug Paisley last Monday in a 1000 year old church in Guildford. It worked well.
  2:51am
Matt from Springfield:

Re-working of "All My Trials"!

Talking of songwriters, I saw Bob Dylan tonight.
Avatar 2:57am

Have a great week, everybody! Thanks for listening!
  2:58am

Saw Buckner at bottom line too. Sort of lived there for while.
  2:58am
T-Zero:

Enjoy your week too, Joe. Thanks!
  2:58am

See ya Joe!
