Listener comments!

  9:09pm
McG:

Playing the show really loud to the neighbors can hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm
efd:

Alright, McG! That's the way to do it!
  9:12pm
SteveL:

Neighbors? You don't need no stinkin' neighbors!
  9:13pm
EL:

This is a rowdy opener. I like it! I like it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm
efd:

whoops, slowing it down a little bit now, EL! Thanks for listening!

Hi SteveL, thanks to you as well!
  9:17pm
McG:

I can dig the slow jam.
  9:20pm
McG:

That Gap Dream song was excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
efd:

They are amazing! That album would be a lock for #1 in any year without a new dB's album.
  9:27pm
Holly in NC:

Hi Evan & funky friends! Not yet listening, sadly. 10:30ish!
Gap Dream lp is great.

Note to all: Making one's Google Calendar public to clients before blocking out private time is a rather bad idea.
  9:29pm
Some Funked up Guy:

Sweet set, thanks!
  9:31pm
McG:

Delaware boys, The Spinto Band are opening for The DB's at Maxwells 9/1. I'm a big fan of them myself. They are very tight, fun to watch.
  9:35pm
McG:

I like when you talk about baseball. It's something I know little about, so I feel like I am learning something.
  9:36pm
john:

Actually, some of us do tune in for your opinions on baseball. And for what it's worth, I think it had to be done. From the Sawx perspective, I approve of getting rid of some of those guys (and Shoppach, who was one of the instigators of the clubhouse toxicity), but James Loney is no, umm, James Loney.
  9:36pm
Kat in Chicago:

Was the guy in DM3 devastated by DEV UH STAY TUH?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm
efd:

haha Kat, maybe I should do a "devastater/d" theme set sometime.

john, I appreciate that! I agree all around with your comments. I'd be surprised if Loney is back with the Sox next year.

McG, I'll make a point of catching the Spinto Band on Saturday!
  9:47pm
EL:

Went for a jog with the wife and missed the Marked Men! Thank goodness for the archive.
  9:49pm
SteveL:

Where were The Features from? Great song.
  9:49pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Song title of the decade-Floozie of the Neighborhood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
efd:

That'll teach you to exercise!
  9:49pm
EL:

Never again!
  9:57pm
john:

OK, so there's got to be a Dawnie Iris connection there somewhere...
  9:57pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

You can take the kid outta Allegheny county..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm
efd:

Those are dots you'll have to connect, john.

Hey Barkevious!
  10:02pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

How do!
  10:23pm
Cynthia:

I have been completely obsessed with steve harley and cockney rebel all summer!!!!
  10:25pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Hi Evan and all the listeners.
  10:29pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Tatty?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
efd:

kind of talked myself into a corner there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
efd:

Hey Cynthia! I've always loved "Come Up And See Me," of course, but haven't explored much beyond that. I like the LP I played tonight though!

Hi Richard, good to see you!

Barkevious, the copy said "tatty." I verbally autocorrected it.
  10:35pm
michele:

I've heard this dBs song (that time is gone) a bunch lately - seems like an old friend already. Oh, wow - old school dBs.
  10:35pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

My autoincorrect is always in full effect.
  10:36pm
michele:

how about triple play "Big Brown Eyes" or "Amplifier"?
  10:36pm
McG:

Awesome show tonight EFD. Really enjoyed it.
  10:37pm
will:

I have this single (Soul Kiss)!
  10:40pm
michele:

Great show so far Evan!
  10:40pm
Holly in NC:

Waaayyy late on comment board: Love love that Paul Messis 7"! And everyone please send good thoughts toward Dan & Letha (Rodman) Melchior, if you have good thoughts to spare.

Now db's bliss xo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
efd:

oh yes, Holly, all best wishes to Dan and Letha. Glad you're here - better late than never!

michele, thanks! I'm going to try to squeeze one of those songs in.

Hey will, yeah, the single version has the nice little coda; that's about 6 tracks away on the 'wild tom tom' CD.

McG, thanks!
  10:50pm
michele:

thanks Evan! you made my night!
  10:54pm
Rickwaukee:

  11:02pm
Ignore Function:

Good thoughts to Letha and Dan for sure.
  11:05pm
Ignore Function:

Good show also.
  11:05pm
Holly in NC:

Aside from everything involving Mittens, his scarily idiotic VP candidate, and the usual GOP excuses for warmongering, Condee's speechwriter actually kicked some ass. I wonder if anyone will notice? And will he/she be fired?
  11:06pm
michele:

how 'bout some Posies PowerPop? Solar Sister
  11:08pm
Jose Bautista:

Yo, just chillin out listening to your show man. Fantasy 2013, let me in to your line up bro.
  11:09pm
seang:

The Vaselines in Brooklyn tomorrow night!
  11:11pm
Rickwaukee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm

wow, Jose Bautista! Sorry you're out for the year, but nice job your teammates did against the Yankees this week.

seang, wow, I can't keep up! Are you going? (And thanks for listening/commenting)

michele, don't press your luck! :) I'm going in a slightly different direction, I think, at least for now.

oh, and hi/thanks Ignore Function and Rickwaukee!
  11:14pm
seang:

I sure am. I'm coming down from Boston.
  11:14pm
michele:

okay i'm just gonna sit back and enjoy your surprises - thanks Evan
  11:16pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Why'd they have to let a dude cover this Dynasty standout?
  11:18pm
Rickwaukee:

having a 70's blashfack
  11:18pm
Holly in NC:

Oh yay, an excellentKiss cover...wait,, AND then dirty deeds ?!!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:19pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Bon Scott. Replaced by a janitor.
  11:25pm
Holly in NC:

Pre- ACDC Bon was a shit -shoveller, literally! & he & Brian were friends, I think.
  11:28pm
Ignore Function:

Apache Dropout are great. Nice guys, too.
  11:31pm
Holly in NC:

@Ignore Function - Sounds like you know the band, if so, pls tell then I'm a huge fan!
  11:32pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

You'd have to hope that Bon Scott whisteled Rip Rigs Knee Deeo in Shit whilst plying his trade.
  11:35pm
Holly in NC:

@Barkevious - :-)
And efd, thank you for this RRP
  11:37pm
?:

thought that was rip, rig and panic. You can't even find them anymore. They ruled!!!!
  11:39pm
Ignore Function:

Don't know them but I talked to em' for at probably 45 minutes after their show.
  11:46pm
Holly in NC:

I wish someone would tell Foreign Mothers that people temporarily sans turntable would *happily* pay $ for a digital dl...
  11:49pm
Rickwaukee:

I guess not the same METZ playing tomorrow at Pianos and Fri. at Death by Audio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
efd:

No, it is not! That is an unrelated Sub Pop (I think) recording artist.
  11:55pm
Andrew Waterloo:

the Sub Pop Metz is really too. More the loud and noisy variety.
