Listener comments!

  9:06pm
dave:

great way to kick off the show's last freakout for a while.

awesome as dave mandl is, sundays are gonna be a lot less fun without this show.
  9:09pm
Martha:

Thanks! Trying to freakout a little more than usual this time out - we'll see how it works -
Dave's a great guy, does a great show, and has been off the schedule way to long - props to him - as always -
  9:13pm
Tom - In Gravesend Brooklyn:

Loving the Freak out start and your show as always Martha... wanna just get out the strat and the little terror Princeton amp put it on 10++ ,, like I did one time on a last night when I used to do emergency alarms service ,, thinking this one particular time I was alone with axe and just let loose... like you are now and I know youll pop up now and then on the schedule also.. !!
  9:14pm
Tom - In Gravesend Brooklyn:

.... 68th floor at about 1- 2am building in manhattan.... YEOWW!!! 10++
  9:18pm
dave:

y'know i'm sure it's just me, but this mgla track is an example of something i've been noticing lately: a lot of recent black metal vaguely reminds me of fields of the nephilim, and not in a bad way at all.
  9:19pm
Martha:

Sounds awesome! - and I hope to get some fill-ins over the summer - I'll post them on my F-book page I guess - where else does one put things like that these days???
  9:22pm
Martha:

I'd agree - more open, not so claustrophobic - and less fear of that dreaded instrument, the guitar in a not completely percussive role -
  9:24pm
dave:

yeah, and even occasional nods to the other dreaded instrument -- the synthesizer.
  9:24pm
dave:

also, this la race thing is _great_.
  9:27pm
Martha:

They're French! We have all this great new French music in here now, it's kind of weirding me out...
  9:32pm
dave:

yeah, well, between all that new french music and the plastic bertrand and francis bebey reissues, there's clearly something afoot. probably something to do with the impending EU economic implosion.
  9:36pm
Ken of Brooklyn:

BRILLIANT show Martha, love the last Courage Solo freak fest!!!
  9:42pm
Martha:

We'll be getting back to the freak out soon but I am now indulging my alternative love, pop -
  9:46pm
sinister dexter:

awesome show Martha ... lovin it ^_^ .... hey fellow listeners ... greetings all from grand rapids michigan ... cheers!
  9:48pm
sinister dexter:

gonna miss ya Martha ... thanks from my heart ^_^ .. come back soon
  9:49pm
Martha:

Hope so Mr. S. Dexter!!! - And perhaps the French are now exporting one of their natural resources as a last resort...
  9:57pm
Ken of Brooklyn:

They work well together, and please try to muscle your way into the FMU family on a permanent basis!!!!
  9:58pm
Martha:

Thanks Ken! - will do my best -
  9:58pm
Lumpy:

Great show as usual. Going to miss you on Sunday night.
  9:58pm
Ken of Brooklyn:

Cuz your one of fav DJs here, along with Bryce, Fabio and Wm Berger!!
  10:04pm
Martha:

Thanks all, again, for the good wishes and words - I could quote A. Schwarzenegger [?sp?] here but I won't...
  10:06pm
dave:

there are bands that shouldn't have theme songs. speedwolf is not one of those bands.
  10:07pm
dave:

reaction to this track: "fuck yeah", followed by furious headbanging.
  10:10pm
sinister dexter:

yup dave
  10:15pm
Ken of Brooklyn:

Jacksonville FL noize!!! NRIII are absolutely amazing!!! You will be back Martha, a show this good will always return to the airwaves!!!
  10:16pm
Martha:

If Speedwolf had another "self-describing" song I believe it would be "Motorhead" -
  10:17pm
dave:

the NRIII and Elodie tracks remind me a lot of the Vladislav Delay Quartet thing from a while back. really nice.
  10:21pm
dave:

i think it'd almost be redundant for speedwolf to have a track named "motorhead". probably the reason they have the "speedwolf" track is just to, y'know, reinforce the point that honest, they're not just a really kickass motorhead tribute band.

on the other hand, if they DID have one, you could set up an awesome sequence: speedwolf "motorhead" -> motorhead "r.a.m.o.n.e.s.".
  10:30pm
Martha:

That is a great premium idea (an I am always in need of one!) - can I steal it?
  10:32pm
Bob in DC and/or VA:

Martha -- I'm usually a lurker on this show but just wanted to say thanks, and hope to be listening to you later. The current schedule's Sunday lineup has been one huge dose of awesomeness after another, and I'm sorry that your chunk of it (among others) will be missing.
  10:37pm
Martha:

Thanks Bob - I'll be missing it too but the new schedule has both some raw and finished gems in it so please stay tuned - and I appreciate the lurker status, that is usually me!!!
  10:37pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Good evening Martha. Thanks for sharing amazing music. I discovered a lot of bands by your show. You're a terrific DJ. All the great wishes to you.
  10:40pm
dave:

i'd be kinda surprised nobody's had that premium idea -- or one consisting entirely of bands performing songs with the same name as the band -- before...
  10:41pm
Martha:

Thanks for checking in Richard - and thanks for all your help in tracking down song names, band links, etc. via the comments page -
  10:48pm
Richard from Venezuela:

thanks to you Martha. By the way, this Kadaver's song sounds terrific
  10:49pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Tonight's show is the icing on the cake. A nice way to close out ye olde wekke-endde. Thanks for the fine music and looking forward to seeing you on the station down ye olde dirtte roade.
  10:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Note to self...come up with an app that translate regular words into "ye olde" words.
  11:02pm
Martha:

Yep Dave, prob. has been done before - but at this point a lot of them have been done before - will need to check (if I need to do another premium, that is). Ken, thanks for the good words and I agree - would be a v. useful auto-translation function - always fascinated by the ye olde phenomenon -
  11:05pm
dave:

welp, nice to see the show closes out the season in traditional form: by affecting my finances. this tetras album goes right on the "must. have. now." list.
  11:08pm
Martha:

This Tetras release is an awesome record - beautiful, taut, sometimes even violent - four sides and four very different yet cohesive pieces -
  11:13pm
dave:

they cover an awful lot of territory in just this piece. really great.
  11:36pm
sinister dexter:

fuckin sweet ^_^
  11:37pm
dave:

what dexter said.
  11:40pm
Martha:

Yeah -
  11:56pm
dave:

starting and ending with radically different freakouts, nice.
  11:57pm
Martha:

Thanks!
  12:00am
dave:

woah, j. spaceman's involved in that? that's a serious departure for him.
