great start as always
  8:06pm G:

Them's some nice obstinacies
  8:08pm ranjit:

waaay back in college, back when there was such a thing as a repertory movie theater, the UC Theater put together Koyaanisqatsi, a Colin McPhee documentary, and The Secret Life of Plants (with soundtrack by Stevie Wonder). I think that broke my brain permanently, and now here I am listening to A440!
  8:10pm rr in sc:

ranjit, sounds cool. Just reminded me of the time I saw Koyaanisqatsi with a live orchestra somewhere in central NJ in the 90s
  8:10pm W in NJ:

Who's performing?
  8:13pm W in NJ:

Thanks!
  8:13pm gpo:

good music for reading becomes more conventional than the previous show 2001-2009
  8:14pm Tim:

Elvis was born in 1935, quite the year!
  8:33pm ranjit:

Justin Timberlake and Paris Hilton were born in 1981.
  8:34pm G:

It's a cultural harmonic convergence then!
  8:34pm Joe Mulligan:

So rawsome that gamelan influenced minimalism in the 30s Love the freeform history lesson Bethany
  8:36pm Skirkie:

I wouldn't have guessed '81. I don't know what I would have guessed, but not '81.
Avatar 8:41pm bethany:

Yep. That's how Xenakis ended that piece.
Avatar 8:41pm bethany:

  8:46pm steve:

so brutal
Avatar 8:49pm j4ff:

So...I never listened to 'classical' music before Bethany's show, and I think I'm getting a pretty damn good introduction to things they wouldn't play in any other music appreciation course. So, thanks, I appreciate it.
Avatar 8:56pm andrew in dc:

same as you, J4. agreed.
  8:59pm joe:
