Doug Schulkind:

I yam here.

Van in DC:

And heeeeere we go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Doug Schulkind:

Greetings afternooners!
  12:11pm
northguineahills:

Just checked my fire escape garden, the jalapeno seedlings have sprouted. still waiting for the habaneros.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Doug Schulkind:

So much weirdness on that last show. Happy Friday the 13th, I suppose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Doug Schulkind:

When the habaneros sprout, northguineahills, Cory Booker will be there to rescue you.
  12:14pm
Van in DC:

You know what it was Doug? It was that animated phonograph picture thingy caused all the weirdness :)
  12:15pm
listener james from westwood:

the #corybookerstories hashtag is good for a few giggles. seriously, though, between his snow response and this, he might be batman.
  12:16pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Been thoroughly enjoying the stream all morning. Too much fun!
  12:16pm
listener james from westwood:

ah, ngh, you're making me wish i had a fire escape or a bit of land. all i can grow here are houseplants.
  12:16pm
still b/p:

That victrola horn could've killed Nipper!
  12:19pm
northguineahills:

I'm lucky my fire escape doesn't face the street, and I'm on the top floor, so, I don't get any citations.
  12:19pm
listener james from westwood:

"a week or so"?! yikes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Doug Schulkind:

I just made my pledge to Asheville FM's Kickstarter thingy. Those lucky ducks are only $162 away from hitting their goal. You people are amazing.

Van, I agree, the seizure-inducing victrola is to blame for all of it.
  12:27pm
northguineahills:

I saw G Love and Special Sauce open for the Violent Femmes in 1994. (get off my fire escape [lawn])
  12:29pm
joe:

I acutally saw him open for "gulp" 311. The only reason I accompanied my then girlfriend (now wife) to the show.
  12:31pm
Hugo:

Man, that victrola was psychedeeelic!
  12:31pm
kat330:

@ngh: Where are you at? I'm keeping our tomato seedlings indoors for a few weeks more. Usually plant them in the garden on Derby Day. But I suppose that close to a building (the fire escape) would keep them warm enough.
  12:38pm
kat330:

[ok, it IS Friday the 13th -- am I being pranked? If not, so sorry for whatever anyone thinks I did -- never any harm intended I assure you]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Doug Schulkind:

Jesus, reading #corybookerstories @ Twitter is better than breathing.
  12:43pm
listener james from westwood:

you throw that hashtag into tweetchat, you've got a story going on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Doug Schulkind:

Tweetchat sounds too muck like Twatcheat. Which I find embarrassing.
  12:51pm
northguineahills:

@kat330: I'm in Bushwick, Brooklyn. I bring the seedlings inside once it's dark, and put back outside in the morning until about Mayish. However, I'm having problems of getting the mustard greens to last more then 2 weeks before they die off. I havn't had any problems w/ the chilies or the ornamentals.
  12:51pm
listener james from westwood:

speaking of twatcheats, a former hustler copy editor addressed the american copy editors society this week in the big easy: http://nola.copydesk.org/blog/hustler-editing/
you must be over 18! text is nsfw but lol.
  12:56pm
kat330:

@ngh: You must have a rather large fire escape space. We have about 30 tomato seedlings in hale and hearty shape at this point. Way to many to plant all. We'll just plant the sturdiest. So, anyone dropping by Louisville area at Derby can drop by and have some free tomato plants. :)
  12:56pm
Van in DC:

Sigh. I am so not having fun with this tax crap. ARGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Doug Schulkind:

Better give Cory Booker a call, Van.
  12:59pm
northguineahills:

The fire escape isn't that large, just like a narrow balcony. However, since I'm on the top floor, I don't have to worry about any one trampling on them, and I have long containers tied to the railings.
  12:59pm
listener james from westwood:

paid The Man earlier this week, but nj ended up owing me. take that, christie!
  1:02pm
kat330:

I guess the top floor affords better access to sunlight, too. (and s.b. "too,", too, not "to" the before ;).
  1:04pm
Van in DC:

Thanks Steinski, thanks Doug!

Kickstarter thing now down to $102. Wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Doug Schulkind:

Thank you dear listeners and thank you Cory Booker.
  1:06pm
listener james from westwood:

damn, these shows always go by so quickly. thanks to doug and steinski!
