In 1970, when my Dad was at Madison College, he told me there was a trip to Virginia Tech to see the MBs perform. There was a girl he wanted to get to know who was going on the trip--but the MBs cancelled, and she ditched the trip! But he did get to see the Guess Who instead.

According to Wiki, renaissance fairs started in America, the first one being in 1963 in L.A. I don't know if the Kiwis were referring to those in the 60s, but the fairs did get a slow start in the 60s.
  5:11am
Marmalade kitty:

love the bunny bat! just looked at kinda kinks.. I'm pretty sure Ray Davies wrote "Nothin in the World Can Stop Me Worryin' Bout That Girl".. "wait til the summer comes along", is a Dave Davies song. Ray & Dave share credits for "Got my feet on the ground"
  5:11am
fred von helsing:

Ya want a Renaissance fair? I always heard the one upstate (NY) was great

fred von helsing:

I love this kind of guitar, sounds like Lush, what kinds of gizmos do you need to get this effect ?
  5:26am
Matt from Springfield:

@Rob: Shhhh! Don't reveal her secret superhero identity!
Unlike most, she DJs at night, and fights crime and musical mediocrity during the day.
Avatar 5:26am
Julie:

THAT is who is sounds like, yes!
  5:27am
Matt from Springfield:

Yes, this guitar is like Lush--I know Julie's played this before. I'll have to remember Dreamscape, see what else they did.

  5:33am
fred von helsing:

I'm having trouble finding Dreamscape on the interwebs (it's a system of tubes). Anyone got some pointers?
Avatar 5:33am
Julie:

It's probably Lush under an assumed name
Avatar 5:34am
Julie:

I will see if I can get some Lush in before I go
  5:34am
Rob from Maryland:

I am not familiar with Lush, but they have one song that sounds to me almost exactly like the Buzzcocks. It confuses me. not that I know that much about the Buzzcocks either.
  5:35am
Marmalade kitty:

FVH, Rickenbacker w/ phaser/echo/delay effects, etc..?
  5:36am
other david:

@FVH: there appears to be a bazillion bands named Dreamscape, including, but not limited to, wedding and metal bands.

Still googling

I get that way with Cocteaus as well.. that Dreamscape thing is a mystery!
  5:46am
Matt from Springfield:

Not to be confused with The Church's "Tristesse".

Say, what is a tristesse anyways?
  5:47am
Matt from Springfield:

Sadness!

"Bonjour Tristesse (French, "Hello Sadness") is a novel by Françoise Sagan."
