9:39pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Come back, Betsy. You had your own corner of programming carved out. :-)
9:40pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I'm pledging "easy."
  9:49pm G:

About the Michigan prize: Isn't that the Milliken era? He was the MI governor for many years in the 1970s (succeeding the current Romney's dad)
9:50pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I thought the current Romneybot's dad was a Honeywell.
9:51pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

....or a Merlin.
  9:57pm Martha:

Yes, it is the Miliken state - will correct - thanks everyone for checking in!
  9:58pm G:

Nope, Romney's dad was a 1960s/70s moderate Republican a la Nelson Rockefeller. For example, Milliken very publicly endorsed Kerry over Bush in 2004. I still have relatives in MI, so I hear about this stuff :-)

The current Romney won elections in Massachusetts as a moderate pragmatist. He started moving right on social issues only a few years back when he decided to try for the presidency -- otherwise, he'd never have a shot at winning many Republican primaries in various southern and interior states.
