  9:37am BSI:

@dcp: it was, actually, a test of the FMU app commenty thing, which is rumored to double-post comments. That one was a success. I'd hate to be THAT GUY, etc.... nobody wants to be THAT GUY..... or do they?
  9:42am dc pat:

  9:47am Cecile:

  9:47am glenn:

mitt tried to appropriate a song by a somali-canadian for his theme. didn't go over well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am jason:

Cecile, you have saved us from the corporate underwriters by adopting this comments board and naming it the free speech comments board -- you have stayed true to your word!
  9:48am glenn:

  9:48am Cecile:

That's right.
And, ha! I dont' even work for a corporation. I'm a public servant!
  9:49am wildneil:

Che Stadium?
  9:53am Bad Ronald:

  9:54am Marmalade Kitty:

In the 70's or early 80's Frankie Howard made a commercial ad for Typhoo tea, in his "carry on" camp delivery said ...put the oooh in Typhoo :)
  9:55am glenn:

is it on typhoo tube?
  9:56am dc pat:

yeah, meanwhile, didn't find anything about the group... that's how you know they're good

  10:01am Dirk McNasty!:

My ugly self laughed all the way to the bank, glenn.
  10:03am Mugsy:

I've always considered Eric Idle the missing Beatle after his version of HERE COMES THE SUN on SNL.
  10:04am Pete Best:

Hey, I'm still around you know!
  10:04am r. THOrnton:

Spinal Tap should have covered the Rutles.
  10:04am Cecile:

I wish he and George Harrison would have made music together. They were great friends.
  10:05am BSI:

Funny. I've seen maybe three episodes of SNL in my life, but that rendition of HERE COMES THE SUN will forever be tattooed in my wig.
  10:06am Mugsy:

And Mr. Harrison was just as silly.
  10:07am Marmalade Kitty:

I'm sure george helped out a bit
  10:07am wildneil:

Maybe something with Fripp? Please????
  10:07am Dead Corporate Eyes:

enjoying this jazz adventure with Mr Wyatt.
  10:08am r. THOrnton:

When I think of the musical Idle, I always think of "The FCC Song" first.
  10:09am Cecile:

Actually, the Rutles were born as a skit on Rutland Weekend Television, a radio show/album project of Christopher Guest and Ricky Fataar's which was in '74 or '75. I don't know if they were friends with George then.
  10:10am Cecile:

Whoops, not Christopher Guest, Eric Idle. And it was television, but came out as a record.
  10:10am Marmalade Kitty:

Eric Idle - The greedy bastard diary is great
  10:11am r. THOrnton:

Is that a book, Kitty?
  10:11am Neil Innes:

Whuttabout me?
  10:12am Cecile:

Whoops again, It ran in '75, and George Harrison was the musical guest for the Christmas special! I have to get those...
  10:12am Cecile:

And Neil Innes wrote a lot of the music.
  10:12am Marmalade Kitty:

yup, ..a cocmic tour of america
  10:13am r. THOrnton:

thanks :)
  10:14am Cecile:

you a genius, Neil.
  10:15am glenn:

wondering about the origins of the rutles is like wondering the origins of the cinnamon bun. does it really matter? nope. just enjoy them.
  10:16am Cecile:

I do wonder the origins of the cinnamon bun. it's fun knowing where it came from.
  10:17am Dead Corporate Eyes:

they come from Cinnabuns, right?
  10:19am Neil Innes:

Re the Cinnamon Bun: Me and Viv came up with the idea one late night in Birmingham.
  10:20am Cecile:

  10:27am Marmalade Kitty:

Ienjoyed the interview you did with Glenn Jones Mr. Innes! :)
  10:29am wildneil:

AfroRock is so cool!
  10:32am BSI:

  10:34am r. THOrnton:

  10:34am glenn:

oh bsi. you da man!
  10:35am Neil Innes:

@ BSI - I defer to Mr. Slater's Parrot...
  10:35am Mr. Slater's Parrot:

  10:40am Caryn:
