  12:43pm pierce:

The McCoys, the Kinks, The Fastbacks, The Outcasts. It doesn't get muchbetter than that. Go Joe! Also, am i the only one who hates that entro with the putdowns. You are world class now. Just start with fucking
music already. You will see a big increase in listenership. Thanks
  12:44pm glenn:

for james burton and / or shindig fans, this is a great video. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW-Yz3tPIg0&feature=related
  12:45pm Joe B:

I think that you are the only one that hates it. and I hardly ever start with it.

  12:50pm dc pat:

that JC Brooks has GOT something going on...
  12:51pm KevinWho:

@pierce RE listenership: how big, exactly? are teeming millions put off by the gimmick and switching to NPR or something?
  12:51pm Joe B:

DC, they are heading to DC Dec 17!
  12:52pm Bill S:

Glenn thanks for link. Saw Burton at least three times times with Emmy Lou, once right at his feet at Bottom Line. Brad Paisley should be ashamed to play a paisley tele even if it is his name.
  12:53pm David Shortell:

It's a pity I couldn't learn the secret address of the Missing Monuments show in New Brunswick last Sunday. Even they didn't find it out until the last minute!
  12:53pm dc pat:

I know. Guess I'm gonna have to go...
  12:54pm Carmichael:

Yesterday, Ken played every Beatles song ever recorded at the same time. If that didn't send listeners screaming back to classic rock land, nothing will.
  12:56pm Bill S:

Joe, congratulations on your return to Tuesday Afternoon. The trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why.
  12:57pm dc pat:

That was amazing Carm. You can get lots of hours of listening over in 5 minutes.
  12:59pm james:

To Pierce "Just start the fucking music already" ?
is yer (unasked for) advice to Joe?
Here's mine: How about u shut the fuck up already?
Sheesh
  1:01pm Joe B:

Bill, thanks!
  1:04pm Mike Fun:

I liked the John Oswald solo in the middle!
  1:05pm glenn:

what james said.
  1:06pm Stevel:

Tell me DBCR is making a Midwest tour soon.
  1:08pm dc pat:

wow.
  1:12pm dc pat:

huh. Never heard this Devo tune, added some to the remaster?
  1:13pm Joe B:

yes bonus track
  1:19pm PFFlyer:

I've posted it before, & now I'll post it again: This is one of the last bastions of good left in the USA. Chrysler just lost a loyal customer, from way back when I was a kid, 1967, & the ol' man bought a new Dodge. Is this the last thing a person can sorta' count on, here on WFMU? Thanks for the music and all the colorful commentary/posts. Someday I'll make the pilgrimage to the east coast to check out the way you rock.
  1:21pm dc pat:

man, Barrence is great. You canNOT go wrong going out to see him.
  1:22pm Bill S:

What happened to Dodge. I had red Coronet with black top my father gave me. Cut down a telephone pole with it. Awesome car .
  1:23pm PFFlyer:

oh...& I just saw your thank you note...I really appreciate it 'bout now. Now get back to spinnin' those discs, or whatever you do to make this great sound!
  1:24pm PFFlyer:

Not going into detail...let's just say I'm glad I still own a bunch of older ones, since the late model one is a real, Chrysler documented PO.....you know the rest. Stay away.
  1:27pm SHIMMY:

congrats on the new schedule. VERY happy to get TCM back on Tuesdays. I never adjusted to Thursdays and always get here late.
  1:29pm Joe B:

thanks Shimmy. surprised i never forgot to show up one Thursday!
  1:31pm earwax:

Mighty Fine = Mighty Fine
  1:34pm PFFlyer:

Thanks to Pierre for setting me straight on the new TCM timeslot. Appreciate it.
  1:38pm glenn:

what happened to dodge is what has happened to every other great manufacturer. people's wages aren't keeping up with inflation, therefore they want cheaper goods, therefore manufacturers have to make things cheaper and cheaper. it's a vicious downward spiral, and it's why we're where we are today.
  1:39pm SHIMMY:

Really pissed I missed Louie, but there was virtually no promo and they chose Monday & Tuesday nights to play in NYC. Why do southern bands hate us so? Wait, I remember-- it's because they don't make any money up here. D'oh.
  1:40pm Joe B:

they were at cake shop, whose calendar on their website hasn't worked in about 9 months
  1:42pm SHIMMY:

I know. I only heard the day before. Sunday & Monday nights are just ... terrible. Tuesday I run a DJ night. I guess the thought is always "Better to play New York on a Monday than Poughkeepsie" or whatever but seriously, these bands guarantee themselves lackluster audiences when they do this.
  1:53pm james:

King Louie sounding great!
  1:53pm MD:

These guys are fun....wit a capital F!!!!
  1:54pm james:

Thanks Joe for putting King Louie on your show. I had no idea about their show either!
  2:00pm Joe B:

thanks James and MD glad you dug it!
  2:01pm dc pat:

Mikal Cronin is a must see too, excellent live show.
  2:03pm PFFlyer:

Amen, glenn...thanks for putting into words what is banging on my heart. Thank Odin that the music is enduring, where crap, is just that...crap. But talent! That will reign supreme! I get so mad at this new corperate BS & the really inferior crap coming from offshore. I tell ya'...if it wasn't snowing out I'd take the '66 Plymouth out and flog the livin' daylights out of it in frustration...'cause I know it take the abuse. Guess I'll have to take the rusted out Ford and wheel across the wide open Wisconsin wasteland.
  2:09pm PFFlyer:

That Thermals song sounded kinda' Pixies-ish, no?
  2:12pm dc pat:

"pictures of Strummer"?
  2:18pm Bill S:

I dont think this Grass Roots song hit in NY. Im told otherwise it was huge,
  2:19pm SHIMMY:

This Grass Roots tune sounds a lot like the WCPAEB's Here's Where We Belong. I'm guessing they copped it
  2:20pm Joe B:

The Bangles did a great cover of this GR tunes
  2:20pm SHIMMY:

that is, the WCPAEB copped the chorus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIsi2883cP4 if anyone's curious.
  2:26pm SHIMMY:

haha, that explains it. PF Sloan wrote both songs. He copped his own chorus. I'm done with my soliloquy now.
  2:27pm Joe B:

ha! I have that tune, never put 2 and2 together!
  2:33pm Carmichael:

Big Grass Roots fan here. Thanks for playing, Joe!
  2:33pm still b/p:

Time for another reading from the back of the Spirit of '67 album:
"Paul Revere is the leader of the group, and his authority and fortitude, his grip, grasp, grimness and dogged belief in the continuing rightness of his overall policy protect him from most of the perils of leadership. He is generally envied, often underestimated, sometimes feared, infrequently defied, rarely questioned, never challenged, and he is, give or take a couple of off-days, always right."
  2:35pm Joe B:

Thanks bp! Carmichael, any time!
  2:38pm Bad Ronald:

Killer Richard Hell track. Thanks!
  2:40pm Bad Ronald:

ha ha , damn false-ending!
  2:46pm Mike Sin:

Checkin' in from the phone ap while at lunch. It's a workforce block! Go Joe!
  2:50pm das:

I smell a canadian
  2:50pm David Shortell:

I wasn't paying attention, Joe. Did you mention the Grip Weeds are playing a free show at Vintage Vinyl 2 p.m. Saturday? One could go to Maxwell's afterward, attending three shows that day.
  2:52pm Joe B:

I didn't thanks for the heads up!
  2:55pm Stevel:

B is White/Day is Night= "Hush" meets "Trouble Comin' Every Day"?
  2:55pm Rubble:

Great show Joer! See ya Tuesday!
  2:56pm Joe B:

predates Hush I think
  2:56pm ?:

not to blaspheme, but does this tune have a little bit of Rush's Tom Sawyer vibe?
  2:57pm dc pat:

thanks for playing Watt, never got around to listening to that album
  2:58pm Parq:

This has got to be the cheeriest, least disturbing Porter Wagoner record I've ever heard.
