9:13am bigwallyjunior:I was waiting for some XTC - lots of their stuff fits the theme 9:17am Detroit Mac:Not normally on the computer and working at this time... and XTC to the MOve is just my cup of morning tea! 9:17am bigwallyjunior:skylarking was produced by Todd Rundgren of course. He and Andy Partridge butted heads much. 9:18am Detroit Mac:BigWallyJr. And that head butting produced some of the most wonderful song transitions in pop music. 9:19am bigwallyjunior:word 9:23am EricJ:Great list of tunes! 9:32am Jay/ London:hi bob just checking in :0 9:34am mchuge:Pardon me for asking a stupid question but does "Brainen Archive" mean it's downloadable somewhere easy? Everything But the Girl did a whole rekkid with an orchestra. "Baby the Stars Shine Bright." 9:36am Josh Norton:Barbara Mason's "Yes I'm Ready" has some lovely string writing. 9:43am Moe:Gene Pitney, the man who shot liberty valance 9:44am neg-guh-tor:John Barry comes to mind. Also, Don Leather, The Beatles and Girls of Kilimangaro by Miles/Evans! Great show! 9:55am Mike Sin:I'm enjoying this next installment of the "string section." 10:01am mchuge:Must be 90s country music with orchestra. Lyle Lovett? I also think Kathy Mattea, Dolly Parton, if you want to go there. 10:05am T-Zero:Another beautiful program. Just wanted to say I'm enjoying more strings, Bob. 10:08am clarke:This Mortal Coil: version of Big Star's "kangaroo" 10:08am Detroit Mac:Strings? How about: Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, It' a Beautiful Day, Curved Air, Bob Wills... 10:10am clarke:This Mortal Coil: version of Big Star's "holocaust" 10:15am mrmucho:re: soul w/ strings: 70s Gamble/Huff? 10:16am clarke:The Spinners "i'll be around" - strings in the solo section 10:19am dale:morning mr. deejay. what could be more soulful than the love unlimited orchestra? 10:25am neg-guh-tor:I've got this Mott the Hoople record and it's weird, to say the least. 10:52am clarke:Sunset Recorders records: Johnny Rivers REWIND (mostly Jimmy Webb songs), Glenn Campbell GALVESTON (many Jimmy Webb songs), Bob Siller THIS IS SILLER'S PICTURE (no Jimmy Webb songs), The Fifth Dimension THE MAGIC GARDEN (ALL Jimmy Webb songs), Jimmy Webb WORDS AND MUSIC (uh, ALL Jimmy Webb songs). 10:55am TJ:Isn't this a beach boys song by a different name? Or is it a combination of songs? 10:55am TJ:Nevermind, i was mistaken .. great song though! 4:14pm Keith Spring:The Ben Casey Theme is in 5/4, rather than 7/4. Sorry if there was any miscommunication. The key to counting it is in the pattern played by the string section, rather than the melody.
