  12:32am
Joe McG:

Hi, Cheri, going well!
  12:37am
Holly in NC:

Hi Joe -
VERY tired, but will be listening from a prone position until I fall asleep.
Earlier I took my best friend out for her birthday & discovered that cayenne hibiscus beer is not a ridiculous foodie conceit -it's darn tasty! But that, combined with the porter I started with, a huge meal, and a 1 1/2 hour brisk walk in the blazing noonday sun (my friend sometimes has a far, far, different idea of fun than I do) now leaves me completely wiped out.
Have a great show - I'll listen for as long as I can ;-)
  12:37am
cheri:

joe i want to apoligize about hounding you about the cake ,,,i'm really sorry
  12:39am
Holly in NC:

Whoa - congrats!
  12:40am
Barbie:

Math class is hard.
  12:40am
T-Zero:

Well, hey there. Congratulations, Joe!!!

Just remember, it's the quality not the quantity.
  12:41am
Holly in NC:

@Barbie -
I remember when you said that...
  12:41am
Wikpedia:

Made for Each Other is a 1971 feature film directed by Robert B. Bean.
Both starring and written by the husband and wife team of Renée Taylor and Joseph Bologna, the movie traces the relationship of Pandora and Giggy, a seemingly incompatible couple who meet in a group therapy session and fall in love.
  12:41am
12539:

What did he just say? I always thought Joe sounded much younger than 150.
  12:42am
cheri:

best wishes joe

Vangelis, who almost replaced Rick Wakeman after he left Yes in 1974.
  12:46am
T-Zero:

@Joe McG: We'll let you slide on the tv show. After all, they did make reunion moves. We'll just pretend it was from that. ;)
  12:46am
Joe McG:

Thanks everybody for the good wishes. 150 is tough, but I'm sure 200 is much harder.
  12:47am
Joe McG:

@Holly: Wow, hot beer! Thanks for checkin' in, as always. @Cheri: No problem, Cheri. Thanks for cooling it.
  12:47am
Holly in NC:

Dear lord I love Jim Ford!

Romance on the basis of timing the migratory patterns of herbivores is just milking it.
  12:54am

Trivia: Yvonne sang backing vocals on "I Shot the Sheriff"
  12:55am
Joe McG:

@G: I wonder if she was eating a casserole while she was singing it?
  12:55am
Holly in NC:

marzipan bunny !
did she just say she was going to puke in your soup???
*awesome* song*
now i'm really going to sleep
  12:56am
fleep:

Why is the floor lighting up?
  12:56am
Joe McG:

@Holly: That's what the gal said! G'night!
  12:57am
cheri:

well joe i'm heading out now,, thnx for havin me i'll still be listening to the show,,see you soon night
  12:59am
Joe McG:

Sleep well, all who are sleeping. Dance well, all who are dancing.
  1:00am
G:

Any sleepdancers out there? This would be the crowd to find one in.
  1:05am
12539:

Have you run Napoleone Il Cow Boy by Evan Funk Davies?
  1:06am
Joe McG:

@12539: Is he Napoleon or the Cowboy?
  1:10am
12539:

He spent the summer wearing out the Renegades version of that tune (in English).
  1:11am
Joe McG:

Oh, yeah! I think Joe Belock started that, though, and then it, uh, escalated. I was guilty of several plays myself.
  1:15am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe!
Dorothy makes a good dancin' song!
  1:15am
Joe McG:

Dance, Matt, Dance!
  1:17am
Matt from Springfield:

I am! Loving this. And it's most definitely:

Her Time . . . . . . . . . Dorothy! Way ahead!
  1:22am
tomB:

speaking of grlz, Joe, didn't you play the English version of that Celentano song by Ann-Margret, presumably as 13 Men.
  1:25am
Joe McG:

I did indeed, tomB! Your memory is amazing!
  1:35am
Matt from Springfield:

Green Jello, it's some people's thing I'm sure...
combine with the plaid jacket and you got a very "specialized" taste...
  1:36am
Matt from Springfield:

Just no way--it's like shopping for shoes online or in a catalog. When I bought my mattress, I just had to LIE on them to find out!
  1:38am
Joe McG:

@Matt: That's what it came down to, Matt. I went from store to store and sprawled on 'em.
  1:39am
Matt from Springfield:

Incidentally, before the civil rights era many blacks mail ordered their shoes out of catalogs, if there weren't black shops and no one else would serve them.
  1:40am
fleep:

We had memory foam for ten years, learning to turn over when you are in a ditch shaped like you takes some getting used to
  1:40am
Matt from Springfield:

"Knock On Wood" riff there!
I like those Radio Stars, like Glam punk!
  1:41am
Joe McG:

@fleep: Uh-oh, back in the ditch! @Matt: Yeah, they didn't even put a credit on the record for stealing that riff, either!
  1:45am
fleep:

Bee Gee wails!
  1:50am
Joe McG:

"Let the love juice overflow/And drown us in our ecstasy."
  1:51am
Matt from Springfield:

I just heard "The Snake" by this same guy today--that single was produced by Johnny Rivers, and sounds like it. This is a VERY different Al Wilson!
  1:52am
Matt from Springfield:

The way I want to make love to you should be rated X! Wow!
  1:52am
Joe McG:

Yeah, the 70s Al is a bit more, uh, into eargasms. In the 60s he behaved himself and sang Jimmy Webb songs. Also great!
  1:53am
Matt from Springfield:

And this is a VERY different Betty "Disco" Wright, at least from her "Clean Up Woman" days.
  1:55am
Joe McG:

I like the part at the end when she gets all wacky with her vocal.
  2:03am
tomB:

HH&F: is that Albert Lee?
  2:04am
Matt from Springfield:

Didn't realize there was ever a time when "Tony Orlando" was the same thing as "Dawn"; my Dad and I have talked before about Tony getting individual credit, but "Dawn" being collective.
  2:24am
Julie:

I missed a song called "Baby Spread Your Love On Me???"
  2:26am
Joe McG:

I forgot to mention: It was written by Mac Davis!
  2:27am
Julie:

"Crippled Dick Hot Wax?" Do I need ID for the show tonight, Joe?
  2:29am
Joe McG:

Great label out of Germany! Maybe Crippled Dick is like Spotted Dick, some kind of food.
  2:34am
T-Zero:

Cripple Cock is a beer so maybe it's a play on that
  2:35am
T-Zero:

Well, technically it's a cider
  2:36am
Joe McG:

@T-Zero: I hope that beer's label has a rooster on crutches on the label.
  2:36am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Julie! Top o' the evening to ye!
@Joe: The thing that stands out for me is "Reeperbahn Gorillas"! I SO want to form a punk band with that name!
  2:36am
T-Zero:

http://tinyurl.com/6jbsyhp
  2:37am
Joe McG:

@Matt: You'd be in good company: There was a Hammersmith Gorillas, I believe.
  2:38am
Julie:

there is a rooster didn't notice if he was on crutches
  2:40am
T-Zero:

He's not, but he has a peg leg
  2:40am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Perhaps the rooster is crippled because he only has one leg; you know, like the Soca song about a man's one-legged rooster, his "One Foot Cock" !
  2:41am
fleep:

The Band did a tribute song to it, called "Up on Cripple Cock"
  2:41am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Y'know, I was probably subconsciously thinking of those (proto-punk) Hammersmith Gorillas when I saw the name! But, I still like the Reeperbahn Gs--paint themselves as "the Beatles from Hell!"
  2:42am
Julie:

It is funny the lengths men will go to to use the word "cock"
  2:42am
Joe McG:

Lengths, heh heh.
  2:43am
Joe McG:

(Trying to get in the mood for the Beavis and Butthead revival.)
  2:44am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: True dat. Even if the slang euphemism for it was called "stereophonic sound", we would find some way to work it in there!
  2:44am
Julie:

Oh like they EVER went away..they live on in our hearts
  2:44am
alberto:

you all talk the talk, but can you cock the cock?
  2:44am
Julie:

This is kinda Cocteau Twinny
  2:45am
Joe McG:

Cockteau.
  2:45am
Julie:

You can at least counter it with a song by Pussy Galore
  2:46am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: :D

True dat as well, this song has that prolonged shoegazey feel to it, much like Robin Guthrie's guitaring.
  2:46am
Joe McG:

Now THAT'S theme programming!
  2:46am
Julie:

Reminds me of the Mysterious Skin soundtrack
  2:47am
Julie:

You'd have to get some Jerry Lee Lewis in there as well
  2:47am
Joe McG:

I'm done with soundtracks for the evening. I think.
  2:47am
Julie:

I think we need to start suggesting a genitalia theme to Meghan
  2:49am
T-Zero:

I was just thinking you should collaborate on that with someone on a web only show
  2:50am
Joe McG:

@Julie: Pseu Braun once did a marathon premium on that theme.
  2:51am
Julie:

@Joe AH of course she did! This is more very pretty guitar noodlings
  2:52am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Which goes quite well with my lo mein noodlings right now.
  2:53am
Julie:

@Matt but it does not go with the constant stream of motorcycles driving past my place all night..
  2:53am
Matt from Springfield:

Conspiracy Theorists: This Klaatu IS a re-formed Beatles! Does this not sound like Paul McCartney??!!
  2:54am
Julie:

@Matt was just thinking it was very Paul-like, first time I've heard a similiarity
  2:54am
Matt from Springfield:

Eh? Motorcycles? Are they doing a "Freedom Ride" or something in Manhattan for the 9/11 anniversary?
  2:56am
Matt from Springfield:

When I first looked up Klaatu I wondered why the theorists were talking, but hearing this Paul-like one I can see why there was some chatter about a reformed Beatles.
  2:56am
Julie:

Must be...it was a nonstop stream of motorcycles down the west side highway earlier... the cars couldn't go anywhere as bike after bike turned onto the highway, even with a red light
  2:57am
Julie:

"Deaf Idiot Journalist Starts Beatle Rumour"
  2:57am
Julie:

wow and it's over..just like that..thanks Joe :)
  2:59am
Matt from Springfield:

Subways, Soundtracks and Eargasms! with Joe McGasko !!

Time flies when we're having fun!
  3:00am

Enjoy your new bed Joe, take care
  3:00am
fleep:

Thanks Joe, lots of juicy archive treats tonight
  3:00am
12539:
