Listener comments!

  9:04am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

murnin' y'ins
  9:09am
Liz B.:

Morning everyone, hope you managed to stay dry!
  9:09am
pierre:

i'm saying that right wfmu is the only thing that keep my day bearable, job's so boring…

Bonjour Liz and all listeners (Paris checking in)
  9:10am
WiLd ................n e I L:

This jazz rocks!
  9:11am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

we had beautiful weather in Ohio all weekend. I was prepared to evacuate.
  9:13am
seang:

yeah without FMU this library job is complete drudgery
  9:14am
Liz B.:

A bunch of my pals were evacuated in Brooklyn, so they all crashed at my place and we had a hurricane party.
  9:16am
WiLd ................n e I L:

My 83 year old mom evacuated from Ventnor Friday...she is ok! So is the house!
  9:16am
BSI:

yes. This Onde track is where I need to be at this moment.... which means, I think, i'm already there? here? what?
  9:20am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

YOU ARE HERE NOW
  9:20am
BSI:

no, Ram Dass! Back to the mountaintop! Git! GIT!
  9:21am
M I S T E R G A R C I A:

we are all here now!
  9:24am
Parq:

Annie, are you with us? For those of you who don't know, Listener Annie lives in an area that really did get clobbered yesterday.
  9:30am
listener james from westwood:

hope the wfmu building fared well. i know that's a low-lying area. at least the transmitter survived; wnyc am's got damaged!
  9:33am
WiLd ................n e I L:

This reminds me of Flying Lizards a little, with rap influences of course...
  9:36am
Liz B.:

The WFMU building didn't flood, but we had some bad leaking in our main studio: the carpet is still soggy and it's a little musty smelling in here. Thankfully the water was away from the equipment.
  9:37am
Kevin:

serengeti track was good!
  9:39am
T-Zero:

I thought turn table 2 took a bath.

@WiLd; I have the single EP for Summertime Blues and Money.
  9:39am
T-Zero:

Welcome back safe and sound, Liz.
  9:40am
Liz B.:

Ha ha, forgot about turntable 2, the leak above that is old news (we've got a cover and a bucket nearby at all times).
  9:42am
T-Zero:

@Liz: I kept fearing the power would go out more than flooding.
  9:43am
listener james from westwood:

Glad the water was minor and, in the turntable 2 case, anticipated. I had visions of the Pit becoming a nightmarish schmutz-pool.
  9:44am
Liz B.:

We were certainly lucky that the power remained on both at our studio and at our transmitters. There weren't too many power outages in the NYC area, thankfully. I suppose most utilities are underground in urban areas.
  9:46am
fred von helsing:

Is there an official WFMU Irene Theme Song that emerged from the weekend ?
  9:46am
T-Zero:

@Liz Yeah. During the Clay and Julie marathon, I'd heard that one of the power stations in Jersey shut down because of flooding and one in Hoboken, but fortunately WFMU must have been on a different grid.
  9:48am
WiLd ................n e I L:

You need to get some industrial fans to dry out your carpet to avoid MOLD!!! In the drywall, carpets, etc...might want to start addressing this now before it becomes a major problem!
  9:51am
WiLd ................n e I L:

@ T-Zero-
I used to have records (gave them away in a paroxysm of minimalism), glad you have that one! Vinyl sounds so real...
  9:52am
T-Zero:

@WiLd: I've tried to hang on to most of my vinyl. Lost some due to a water leak several years ago. Problem is, last time I moved the turntable was broken, so now I have the vinyl but no way to play them. lol
  9:53am
fred von helsing:

fantastic irene photo

  9:53am
Reno:

3 cheers for Clay and Julie (what , no Fabio?) I hope Clay Pigeon's upstate home was safe. MAJOR devastation in that area.
  9:53am
yayson:

great show liz!
  9:56am
Liz B.:

We'll be drying everything out today for sure, Wild Neil... well aware of the long term damage that can cause.
  9:59am
CB:

This is nice....
  10:00am
CB:

I was worried about the station all weekend glad to hear that everything is fine, love WFMU
  10:25am
Sam:

Liz, you'll always be DJ Ketchup to me!
  10:30am
pierre:

Scott W + angels in america ?
  10:32am
Liz B.:

Thanks Sam, I must say I am a huge fan of ketchup (it is the main reason I ever eat french fries). Pierre, Angels in America will be on Scott W's show next Monday!
  10:32am
Scott W:

Oui, Pierre! Next Monday
  10:37am
Jennique:

Wow, never knew there was a cover of Warm Leatherette. I likey!
  10:39am
Sam:

Yeah, without ketchup fries would be unbearable. No taste at all except grease.
  10:39am
Abe Something:

This Da Cruz song is a monster! YES!
  10:41am
WiLd ................n e I L:

Like the droney arabic string thing.
  10:42am
dc pat:

and now for another view: ketchup or catsoup, is an abomination that must be annihilated. Good fries don't need nothin.
  10:42am
pierre:

@Scott William : you are my hero.
  10:46am
BSI:

I prefer a strong curry sauce w/fries. But then, I'd prefer a strong curry w/life in general.
  10:47am
lorenzo:

you guys ever try that filipino banana ketchup? pretty good stuff.

enjoying the show, liz!!
  10:49am
dc pat:

yeah, curry's good w/ fries.
  10:54am
pierre:

If i have the rudeness to jump on that Fires conversation, i would say either vinegar or Biggy Sauce… curry's good also, but depends on the time of the day.
  10:55am
pierre:

"fries" not "Fires", pardon.
  10:57am
parented1:

AKA and Cheer Accident are freakin awesome! Thanks for sharing them!!!!!!
  10:59am
pierre:

Chrome is slowly becoming one of my fav.
But isn't "Red Exposure" from the 80's?
  11:00am
WiLd ................n e I L:

Cocteua Twins maybe ? If you want to?
  11:02am
WiLd ................n e I L:

Chrome sounded really Cars-ish...is this the same Hard Rock Chrome, or another one?
  11:10am
Liz B.:

It's this Chrome (only one I know, but there may be others):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_%28band%29

"Red Exposure" was released in 1980 originally.
  11:13am
lorenzo:

Nuclear Animals should be Nucular Aminals. They have one of THOSE names. :)
  11:16am
Liz B.:

Thanks for the heads-up Lorenzo! These kids with the band names...
  11:20am
Carmichael:

Good morning Liz and others. Glad to hear you weren't thrown halfway across the Atlantic this weekend.
  11:20am
pierre:

merci Liz, James, Richard, and Juan this live is inspiring
  11:27am
Liz B.:

Love this crazy synth track!
  11:28am
Jennique:

This track should be called Adventures in Sea Monkeyland.
  11:29am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I hear "blue skies, nothing but blue skies"
  11:29am
lorenzo:

It was nice to hear them here, Liz! I've seen them a couple times in Portland. They are great. One of the better purposely misspelled bands.
  11:30am
tony:

Hard to believe these cool sounds are all emanating from the same place.
  11:31am
Another DS:

That last one had a Sun Ra vibe
  11:32am
Liz B.:

That last one was Sun Ra! Good ears Another DS!
  11:46am
roman:

any chance james pants wants to come to boston before he leaves the east coast and play a small show at a bike shop?
  11:47am
WiLd ................n e I L:

Christian Hard Rock: Grammatrain! Check it out, they truly rock.
  11:47am
Looms:

Hello Liz and fellas!
Will have to check out James' live set in the archive.
  11:47am
pierre:

As James Pants is in Germany, he might want to stop by Paris sometimes, does he ?
  11:51am
WiLd ................n e I L:

High Energy Disco Music =? Discopolo? (affordable, Polish CDs for 10 zlotys instead of 60 zloty (to a Pole, a zloty is almost like a dollar!)...so is this cheap, organically grown disco for Germany also? I thought they were rich?
  11:56am
The Diamond Miner:

We know we have the best radio station in the world, we can't let the DJ's know, they would get snotty.
  11:57am
Liz B.:

Hey Roman, James is already back in Germany now, unfortunately. But drop him a line through Stones Throw and maybe he'll swing by Boston on his next U.S. trip.
  12:00pm
Ike:

I missed a huge chunk of this show while commuting, but that very first set was AWESOME, Liz!
  3:04pm
bennett4senate:

Dear Liz and James Pants: Of course, there are ALREADY Enya remixes and they are AMAZING peep http://dublab.com/listen/mp3-blog/dntel-enya-mixes/ (just let the new age wash over you Liz)
