Listener comments!

  12:09pm Cecile:

Hello, Joe!
  12:09pm Cyclists:

We wanna get loaded and shoot the freak in the head.
  12:10pm Nanker de Tucson:

Today in rock n roll -- "Ned Kelly" premiered in 1970
  12:11pm drr:

"and the", "und die"...it means quality in any language!
  12:12pm Carnivore:

Wurst is better!
  12:14pm efd listener:

had Allen Oldies really been banished to the basement?
  12:15pm Parq:

Dang -- out of nowhere, I had "Gimmie Good Lovin'" going through my head all morning yesterday.
  12:17pm Joe B:

Hi all, thanks for tunin in!
don't know about Allen Oldies, brought my own as a preventive measure!
Hi Cecile!
DRR - agreed!
Parq, I swear I did not know that!
  12:20pm Midwest Man:

Tuned in
  12:31pm pierre:

Bonjour Joe B,
Bonjour all,

(got a job back, good vibes)
  12:31pm Guitar:

Used copies of that Cowabunga surf music box set go for $100 now. Hasn't been reissued.
  12:32pm G:

good for you, pierre. at a place you like?
  12:33pm pierre:

actually G, it's the same place, they just found me an even more boring job, with more boring stuffs to do.
  12:34pm Joe B:

great news Pierre!

@ Guitar, wow, maybe i should sell mine. I see these crazy prices in amazon marketplace for out of print CDs ... I wonder if anyone ever sells any of those!
  12:37pm Guitar:

A guess: Put it up for sale for a bit less than the lowest-priced item, and you'll get the first sale that does happen...
  12:38pm Cecile:

Or, if it's in better condition than the lowest, charge one penny more.
  12:39pm Midwest Man:

Joe,

It's amazing what prices some people ask for out of print CDs. I've seen some going for $150 although if you contact the bands, someone often has a spare copy that they will be willing to sell you at the original cost
  12:39pm Guitar:

But if Rhino reissues it or puts it on itunes, all bets are off.
  12:42pm Handsome Harry:

Hot intro on this Limiñanas tune. Heck yeah.
  12:43pm Cecile:

Midwest Man, I concur. And it still never hurts to always check every antique shop or flea market in a small town - I've found some great out of print stuff that nobody knew anything about.
  12:50pm Rubble:

ILSB! ( I love strata bowling )
  12:51pm Midwest Man:

Cecile,

That's true, I once spent 8 years hunting high and low for a couple of albums, every place I went to I'd search the racks (this was before the internet was in everyone's home)
Then just by chance I went into a record store 3 miles from my house that had just opened up and found 2 copies of the same album. I bought both of them :)
  12:58pm Cecile:

Same here - I'd looked for this comp of the Pretty Things SF Sorrow/Parachute for years in the midwest. Then I was in Seattle and talking to a friend about it. She goes, "oh, you mean this one?" and holds it up. LOL! set me back $6.
  12:59pm Stratomatic King:

the Ronnie S. version of this sounds better than Marshall's own bad 80s production!
  1:00pm Cecile:

Strat King, I KNOW.
  1:01pm Midwest Man:

Cecile. Good find!
  1:02pm Cecile:

Yeah. My friend out West mentioned it was easy to find. At that point all copies dried up. that seems to be how it goes. Also, if a rare LP finally comes out on CD, you will find a copy the week before it does.
  1:05pm Maggie in Rock Tavern:

I LOVE this Ronettes song.
  1:05pm Midwest Man:

have you checked out gemm.com or netsoundsmusic.com ?
  1:07pm Geo:

I guess this is your way of saying you'll be at ponderosa stomp on saturday?
  1:07pm Cecile:

Yes, I've found a lot of goodies that way. My whole Chico Science collection for under $12. A Henry Threadgill album I'd looked for for 15 years. They are good.
  1:08pm Mike East:

I believe all these folks are rehearsing in ours studios right now. Its kinda crazy over here at the moment.
  1:09pm Cecile:

this is the best version I've heard of Doo Wah. I don't know why I never heard it before.
  1:10pm Midwest Man:

I'm tempted to buy a copy of "Santa Claus Rooftop Junkie" by David Peel and the Lower East Side. Only copy I've come across is $50 from some seller in Australia, not sure I can justify paying that much plus shipping
  1:11pm Cecile:

$50 US or AUS? $50 AUS?
  1:11pm Cecile:

Sorry about the redundancy! Ugh.
  1:12pm Dept. of Redundancy Department:

It happens.
  1:12pm Midwest Man:

$50 US
  1:13pm Emily:

this summer sandy song is so great!
  1:13pm Midwest Man:

DoRD, you too?
  1:14pm Cecile:

Yipes. That's spendy. But the title is pretty great.
  1:14pm Dept. of Redundancy Department:

Me too also, yes, right.
  1:14pm Emily:

ok this is probably the most perfect set for right now. love it!
  1:15pm Joe B:

Thanks emily! the bad news is I'm about to interrupt it!
  1:15pm Midwest Man:

meant "you too" as in I'm in the same boat. got laid off from my job last month
  1:24pm Dept. of Redundancy Department:

Fun with Cueing!
  1:25pm Dept. of Redundancy Department:

Great groove on this tune!
  1:25pm ?:

Ronnie Spector covers Amy Winehouse (and wrote a story on her) at Rollingstone
  1:25pm Joe B:

they were cued up right. i'm just too fucking stupid to play the right cd or record
  1:26pm Dept. of Redundancy Department:

you have a great show anyhow, so there :-)
  1:26pm Cecile:

?, I'll have to check that out. I really liked Amy.
  1:29pm Emily:

you're too hard on yourself joe belock! your stage presence is always fun & the show rocks. never a dull moment!
  1:30pm Midwest Man:

I've not heard the original of "You can't take my boyfriend's woody" in ages
  1:31pm Streetwalker:

Yeah, I've seen your boyfriend. What about it?
  1:31pm Cecile:

Nice rememberance, and you get to preview Ronnie's cover of Back to black. It's done in a nice classic dance style - like Gloria Gaynor updated by Groove Armada. Richard Gottehrer co-produced.
  1:33pm Cecile:

Gosh, I hope this is a huge dancefloor hit.
  1:38pm joe:

'ello all
I'm kinda torn I'm going to be missing the girl group show as I have tickets to see Wanda Jackson that night. I was especially bummed when I found out about the meet up before hand.
  1:39pm joe:

@pierre Congrats on the job
  1:45pm pierre:

merci joe
  1:46pm drr:

nervous, man!
  1:47pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Hey, this Nervous Norvus song doesn't follow his usual structure! Is it an imposter? haha. Thanks, Joe. I looooove Nervous Norvus.
  1:57pm joe:

Oh man I didn't know the added Ronnie to the bill. Bummer. Oh well just keep telling myself at least I'm missing it for Wanda Jackson
  1:59pm Joe B:

Joe, where is the Wanda show? You can at least catch some of this girl group thing perhaps?
  2:02pm joe:

In Bethlahem PA starting at 7:30 don't think I could pull it off. I'll just have to listen on the ride :)
  2:02pm Cheri Pi:

There's a nice video of Bucketfull on the youtubes.
  2:04pm Joe B:

oh, thought it was in nyc
  2:11pm KevinWho:

love this, whatever it is
  2:12pm KevinWho:

ah, Raveonettes, duh !
  2:12pm joe:

Boy that was a long wait :)
  2:15pm Stratomatic King:

where's that real version of 'Girl"?! That was promised this week!
  2:17pm KevinWho:

love the Monotonix too, wow, it rawks
  2:21pm Jeff from Rahway:

I would be impressed if my South American neighbors blared Los Yetis from their backyard.
  2:34pm Jeff from Rahway:

Spiral Jetty, the band that put New Brunswick on the map.
  2:35pm Stratomatic King:

Spiral Jetty, the band that taught me English.
  2:36pm BTH:

Spiral Jetty reunion! WTF? I love that first album produced by Million and Mercer......totally Feeliesque.
  2:40pm Stratomatic King:

new brunswick?! play some Lord John!
  2:42pm Jeff from Rahway:

"Bad Thoughts" was the best SI song EVER.
  2:47pm David Shortell:

I first saw Spiral Jetty in the Scott Hall lecture room at Rutgers! Openers were Shock Mommies (whose rhythm section joined Monster Magnet and are now in Ribeye Brothers).
  2:51pm Nanker de Tucson:

Excellent show today, JoeB!
  2:53pm Jeff from Rahway:

If we're playing New Brunswick bands, then it's time for some P.E.D.
  2:53pm Mike East:

How about some Plastic East?
  2:56pm Mike East:

Whatdya mean you never heard of 'em??
  2:57pm Cecile:

awesome show, Joe!
  3:27am Kramer:

Bad Thought is the best tune almost nobody knows.
Anyone who cliams to like Feelies or Television should worship this tune.
Step Upside Down was Lord John, Yes/No?
Want obscure mid 80's Hub City? How about Opium Vala doing 'Sweet young thing' when they opened for Lord John at Patrix.
