  12:07pm Cecile:

mutton, you have those short pants with the tartan border?
  12:08pm Joe:

Sonny almost sounded like Dylan back there.
  12:09pm Mutton:

Damn skippy Cecile!!!
  12:20pm Mutton:

Pat Denuzio and crew!
  12:21pm Joe B:

Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in!
  12:21pm Mutton:

Viva New Brunswick
  12:21pm Cecile:

Good Smithereens song!
  12:22pm SmokinJ:

Rockin' right along...
  12:26pm katya:

As ever, TCM is so much fun!
  12:27pm Cecile:

Both the movie channel and the show!
  12:28pm Neil Young:

Yeah man, so, crazy, there was this one time where this chick had these pills and I worked at a bookstore and I filed everything real good on those pills eh?
  12:29pm Cecile:

was the cute lepers album named after the Elvis Brothers one?
  12:32pm Joe B:

Dunno Cecile but speaking of those guys, Brad Elvis is currently drumming for the Romantics and kicking ass!
  12:33pm MrHokum:

Dig that last one! This is rockin' too.
  12:33pm SmokinJ:

Got some current Romantics JB?
  12:33pm Cecile:

Nice. Friends have told me that the Romantics still bring it live - they do a ton of old 60s covers and knock them out of the park.
  12:35pm SmokinJ:

Romantics NEVER disappoint..
  12:35pm Joe:

Saw the Romantics a couple of years back I would say it's fair to say they still have their chops
  12:36pm Mutton:

How about something to celebrate the Big Man, some old Bruce - Quarter to Three?
  12:37pm Joe:

So from Elvis Ramone to Brad Elvis huh :)
  12:40pm Cecile:

I listen to a hell ofa lot of dance music and jazz, and sometime think I should give up on this rock thing. But I listen to Joe's show, and he digs up so many gems, that I get inspired again.
  12:42pm Joe B:

@ SmokinJ - sorry, station doesnt seem to have that Romantics anymore, didnt bring it, sorry.

@ Joe - good one!

thanks cecile!
  12:43pm Cecile:

it's just nice to know that there are kids out there and seasoned veterans doing new twists on classic rock 'n' roll.
  12:46pm SmokinJ:

Thanks anyway bro'.. 8-)
  12:48pm Cecile:

Ha! I didn't realize, it's a Tom Verlaine cover Yung Wu are doing.
  12:48pm Joe B:

15 years ago yesterday, did my first regular show here at WFMU. Still can't get my shit together to get the right segues!
  12:49pm SmokinJ:

Happy Anniversary buddy!
  12:49pm herb:

i just pulled out my YUNG WU 2009 cd-r i bought from them (at maxwell's), and, there it is - track 12, "kingdom come". wotta hypnotic band.
  12:50pm Joe B:

Had an anniversary show planned but scrapped it ... figure it's not a good idea around here to call attention to how old you are!
  12:51pm SmokinJ:

heh heh..
  12:52pm SmokinJ:

A long career like that is rare in radio.. Personal experience :)
  12:53pm Cecile:

Hey Fabio had his 25th recently. You're still a baby.
  12:55pm Joe:

Sorry off topic but just looking at my calander and noticed one of my recurring activities. If you live in NYC area and have never been to Fat Cats on a Fri night do so and see Naomi Sheldon and the Gospel Queens. It's like a $3 cover and a show not to be missed
  12:55pm Joe:

still sounds like wild and crazy teenage show to me
  1:03pm SmokinJ:

Saw the Raybeats on that tour back in the day.. Great times..
  1:04pm Cecile:

The Raybeats covered the Offbeats' "Calhoun Surf." Danny Amis was in that band. It's a joke. Calhoun is Lake Calhoun, which is a smallish lake near downtown Minneapolis that barely has waves when the wind blows.
  1:06pm Joe B:

and it was rerecorded for the first Straitjackets LP!
  1:06pm SmokinJ:

Cecile: All I know is that the Brewers are gonna' spank the Twins ;)
  1:06pm Joe B:

Offbeats was his Minneapolis band, right?
  1:07pm Cecile:

That's right, Joe.

Good, SmokinJ. They need a spanking.
  1:07pm dc pat:

didn't the Raybeats do an amazing version of Jack the Ripper by Link Wray?
  1:08pm Cecile:

I love that spacy instrumental "The Big Country" I think from It's Only A Movie.
  1:10pm Joe:

@dc pat I just saw a you tube link for that on the FB events page for the Maxwells benefit.
  1:12pm Joe B:

Wed. 6/29 Maxwell's Hoboken NJ A Benefit for Danny Amis feat. The Raybeats/The Individuals/Ira Kaplan & Georgia Hubley (of Yo La Tengo)/The Schramms/Purple Knif/Tall Lonesome Pines 8 p.m. $15
  1:14pm Cecile:

and yes, DCP, it's also from It's ONly a Movie.
  1:15pm dc pat:

amazing version and video.
  1:17pm Joe D.:

just announced;

The Black Hollies with be playing the Black Angels show @ Maxwell's with The Sadies!!

they're also gonna write Joe Belock's name all over the flyer
  1:19pm Cecile:

ha! This was revamped for the Straitjackets. and it used to play on their Tetris-like game on their website.
  1:21pm Cecile:

that was a great damn game.
  1:25pm Bloodbath / Liverpool:

today is the day I clean my amp... thnx for the great amp-cleaning music.
  1:25pm Cecile:

awesome!
  1:26pm SmokinJ:

Wow! It's like a time machine!
  1:29pm Bad Ronald:

Happy anniversary Joe, Keep on rocking!
  1:31pm Robert:

Sure, put the 3-D covers here. WFMU is in stereo, no?
  1:33pm John L.:

I saw Los Straighjackets/ Dave Alvin last Sunday. Great show, and they did do a tune together. And just got my ticket for the Danny Amis tribute.
  1:33pm Cecile:

Diane K also did a great tribute.
  1:36pm Bloodbath / Liverpool:

what's that cute music you're talking over, mister dj?
  1:40pm Joe B:

hey John! cool! gomma make any of the Feelies gigs?
  1:40pm Bluesman:

Our family summer vacation just might be in Brooklyn in November!
  1:40pm Joe B:

@ Bloodbath - Strata Bowling, it is a video game
  1:41pm Joe B:

Blues you better be there!
  1:47pm John L.:

I can only go to the Friday Feelies gig. It's sold out, but I have a line on a ticket. Just heard about Purple Knif playing. It'll be quite the Hudson Valley contingent on Weds. Half of the Individuals reside up here, also.
  1:48pm hamburger / london:

just curious - anyone happen to know if the swans @ primavera 2011 wfmu non-radio-friendly shoutout is on the fma?
  1:51pm Joe:

I was talking to someone at my desk when I heard Joe talking about the Norton show. Outside of dates and venue nothing else has been annouced yet right?
  1:52pm Joe B:

announcement Monday!
  1:54pm Bluesman:

I plan on making at least two of the nights. I told my wife that we could partly celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary by attending! I dont want to be presumptuous, but it would be very romantic to dance to, lets say, a song like "He's Waiting!"
  1:56pm Cecile:

blues, mine and hubby's song is the Bonzo's "Hunting Tigers." I can dig your romantic concept.
  1:59pm Nanker de Tucson:

Sounds like a Farfisa organ?
  1:59pm Carmichael:

I totally dig the Rivieras. I never realized how large their reportoire was.
  2:02pm Cecile:

Does Norton try to keep most of their stuff in print? I keep not buying stuff that I should. And if it's still around I should.

if that makes sense.
  2:05pm Mutton:

Mojo Nixon - Don Henley must Die
  2:05pm Matt:

Bernie became uncool the minute he left the Burritos!
  2:06pm Bluesman:

Yeah Cecile, when it comes to those "special songs" these days, the Carpenters and Journey lose out to the Sonics and Bonzos!
  2:07pm Bluesman:

I think MOST of Norton's stuff stays in print. God bless em!
  2:07pm Joe B:

Cecile - Most is in print, maybe some singles go out of print, and I know the Link Wray 2-CD comp Mr. Guitar is out of print but most everything else is available.
  2:07pm Cecile:

thanks, blues and Joe!
  2:08pm Cecile:

a little revisionist history never hurts. It beats having your song being "Nights in White Satin." ugh.
  2:11pm Cecile:

great rewrite of Friday's on My Mind.
  2:12pm Al Lewis:

Play some Phantom Five!
  2:14pm Bluesman:

Joe, I have warned my boys to stay away from the Mr. Guitar GUITAR PICK.
  2:15pm Joe B:

I still have mine too!
  2:18pm Cecile:

LOL! This song is hilarious.
  2:18pm Bluesman:

Your show has totally blown my concentration here at work. Eff the man!
  2:28pm Joe B:

Thanks Bluesman! an honor coming from you!
  2:31pm The Man:

ALRIGHT BLUESMAN, YOU LACK OF FOCUS PEON, I WANT YOUR EMPLOYER DETAILS AND I WANT THEM NOW!
  2:37pm Cecile:

what if Santana were a surf band? They would sound pretty dang good! Love this.
  2:39pm Joe:

@ Cecile they would be some what more listenable.
  2:41pm Al Lewis:

Play some Punsters!
  2:41pm Cecile:

Aw, I have a big soft spot for the early stuff, when they were more African/Latin inspired. When they had Baba Olatunde playing with them.
  2:49pm Joe:

Ok I'll give you that the early stuff was actually good :)
  2:50pm Bill F.:

Joe, what is your amazing background music? It makes me dance in my seat here at work.
  2:51pm hamburger:

@bill f: the theme as mentioned for your enjoyment (later on ofcourse!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofS0xw2kme8&t=2m10s
  2:51pm Cecile:

later on, I completely agree with you.
  2:51pm Joe B:

It is from a video game called Strata Bowling
  2:55pm hamburger:

has fabio always stuck around to have a bit of banter with clay pigeon, or is that just a recent thing?
  2:56pm Cecile:

hamburger, it started about six-eight months ago
  2:57pm Cecile:

great show, joe!
  2:59pm Neil Young:

BTW, I'm still stage rapping, Joe's just not sending it out any more.
  3:00pm Bluesman:

Back to stinkin' woik. Booooo!
  2:12pm Carson:

I liked The Booze, The Cynics, Light Bulb Alley, Bloodshot Bill, The Alarm Clocks all those various Psychedelic stuff from the 60's, Cool Show! Hell I like it all!
