Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from March 29, 2011 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Dead Corporate Eyes:

goodafternoon Mr BT.
  3:09pm
MuttonChops:

Good day Mr. BT.
  3:09pm
BT:

Afternoon & welcome
  3:09pm
bill:

Hello cow, hello egret
  3:10pm
MuttonChops:

Moo
  3:10pm
Cheri Pi:

hello to you all
  3:11pm
Ryan M.:

someone is off to a good start.
  3:12pm
MuttonChops:

What does it all mean?!?!?!?
  3:13pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Nothing means anything. Just let it happen.
  3:17pm
bill:

Tell that to this guy
  3:18pm
MuttonChops:

I see the essence of nothing is everything and absence simultaneously. Total annihilation.
  3:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Things happen...on WFMU!"
And weird British things happen, on BT's show.
  3:21pm
hamburger / london:

cor blimey
  3:21pm
Ryan M.:

not to be the constant request guy, but I wouldn't complain if you played something off that Monochrome Set early works from that Captured Tracks 12"....been on a fix for that record lately.
  3:21pm
Eldritch:

Communication is Impossible.
  3:22pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Matt, haven't seen you post in awhile.
  3:27pm
Cheri Pi:

Insect voice!
  3:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: I was listening to BT every week, and commenting on some, but not necessary as it was broadcast. My work's network hasn't been supporting streaming; but ALAS! Ike saved the day last week by pointing out the Flash stream now available. Flash saves the day on any number of things, WFMU included!
  3:28pm
bill:

Runhild Gammelsæter voice!
  3:29pm
Cheri Pi:

Haha bill!
  3:30pm
Cheri Pi:

Jennifer Herrema shoulda been a metal singer as well.
  3:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

I think you were gone when I was on Irwin's/Tim's/7SD last week.

And WIRE!! I'm glad I have a way to listen to that live! I thought it was this week myself, but I'm looking forward to that--Wire was one of the first punk-ish bands I listened to!
  3:30pm
Upper East Jeff:

Zorak voice! Good stuff.
  3:31pm
Cheri Pi:

Is it me, or does the guy from Induced labor sound like Sweet Pea?
  3:32pm
bill:

Short answer is "yes"
  3:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Go Louis CK!
Rummy's been hitting the radio circuit the last month--THIS is the interview I WISH I heard!
  3:34pm
JCJ:

Yeah, the "short answer" is one of the best parts of that interview. Typical politician; the short answer is two minutes of anecdote that doesn't relate at all to the question.
  3:35pm
SiHV:

No, you misheard me. I didn't say "alien lizard," I said "chuckleheaded war criminal and mass murderer."
  3:35pm
MuttonChops:

Yea Rumsey is a lizard.
  3:35pm
bill:

In that case, the short answer would be "affirmative"
  3:41pm
MuttonChops:

I feel like I am in a whirlpool of the mind.
  3:43pm
MuttonChops:

Hey I bought the Troll Spray Travel Kit at Macy's Fragrance.
  3:45pm
MuttonChops:

Abort Abort Abort Red Alert
  3:45pm
bill:

This is what old party-line phones used to be like
  3:46pm
MuttonChops:

That was tasty
  3:47pm
bill:

Ptasty
  3:48pm
popo:

  3:56pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

the inside of my nose hurts
  3:57pm
ning nong:

that ain't "telstar"
  4:02pm
Ike:

Sounded like "I Go to Sleep." Did the Kinks write that one?
  4:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Deathcatcher" is so friggin rich and textured, like...like chocolate mousse cascading and layering over my mind...mental sugar crash
  4:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Shout out to Rory! I like!
  4:07pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  4:45pm

  4:45pm
BT:

Its only for a second! Dont get too excited! But Scharpling directed it which is very exciting.
  4:50pm
randy in NC:

It fits in with the videos for Bottled In Cork and Digging For Something. Especially since they share some cast members.
  4:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

I spotted Terre easily, think I found Therese--didn't know you were cast Brian! I'll look for you again.
  4:51pm

  5:16pm
bill:

Hard to believe that Annette Peacock track was from 1970
  5:24pm
pompatus of petworth:

She was always ahead of her time, dropped acid with Leary in 1961 and obtained a synth from Moog well before they were commercially available.
  5:26pm
MuttonChops:

Grooooovy
  5:26pm
bill:

thx pop
  5:27pm
pompatus of petworth:

...and she turned down Bowie's offer to play piano on Aladdin Sane.
  5:28pm
pompatus of petworth:

Believe me, the Leary thing was before I was born. Not much before...but I'm not that old.
  5:30pm
randy in NC:

I remember playing that I'm The One track back in the mid '70's when I did college radio.
