Bonjour tout le monde
06.15 pm in Paris, the music feels right
  12:16pm
Cecile:

I'm not that familiar with Crass besides the "hits", but they and their kin didn't get enough credit for their musicianship.
  12:18pm
Jim Idol:

boing
  12:21pm
Cecile:

I seem to remember there was some prejudice in some circles in the 80s against British 2nd wave punk. The UK and US press didn't help. It was truly a fan's movement.
  12:23pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Saludos.
  12:25pm
rosh:

  12:28pm

My Father's Place! Roslyn, New York!

Beefheart recorded a live album there. My parents used to go all the time.

Probably didn't see Crass though. Maybe.
  12:46pm
Jim Idol:

There is a great interview with penny on VBS..pretty extensive
  12:49pm
BSI:

The Bullshit Detector comps they put out were odd little masterpieces as well...
  12:50pm
dw:

There was that recent BBC one as well; No Authority But Yourself.
  12:52pm
bratt...:

yeah when i first heard that all this was happening i was like...wwhhhaaaa?...and sent a response(rant) about it all etc...and since then in reading and seeing interviews about this i got a better look at this...but i am still bothered by the flyer for this tour...a gun?...now that bothers me...hope the local oinkmen(authority) dont think hes some gun toten lefty...ha...but hey...maybe this will cause a stir and get the kids on the streets and bring back what we were suppose to do in the first place...but then again were lazy americans that have it to easy...
  12:55pm
Jim Idol:

The EX are playing the same day as the Last Supper show..I wish they were playing together!!!!!!!
  1:00pm
TDK60:

This is a true predicament: The Ex or Steve I.!
  1:03pm
rosh:

@jim idol: EXACLTY my thoughts when i bought EX tix. I'm totally fine with my decision...cuz i'm hoping for a secret diy show in nyc. Can someone cooler than me make that happen, plz?!
  1:07pm
Jim Idol:

I think it's a problem because Steve is up in Canada the next day..
  1:15pm
bratt...:

everytime i go to southern to put up a pix...it says it doesnt exist...whats up with that?...
  1:22pm
Don:

  1:31pm
hank:

war is a racket....
  1:33pm
Neg-guh-tor:

I totally empathize with Steve on his sadness on looking back. We can't go home again. When your home was CRASS in the '70's that home was probably pretty sweet. Sounds that way to me. Makes me think of my little world at 19yo. *sigh* Great show, Diane.
  1:34pm
Vince:

Hi Diane! Nice to hear you.
  1:36pm
andymorphic:

it is a great show ... i am digging the label, ideology theme....should try it with sst, discord, etc.
  1:40pm
Jim Idol:

I wonder what Steve thinks of the Artless song "Crassdriver"
  1:45pm
rosh:

i'm just asking for a tiny 20 min set @ maybe a 31 yr old collectively run squat turned diy anti racist-anti sexist anti-homphobic-venue in nyc....one that's needing funding for rebuilding. It would balance out all these "bigger" shows while giving a nod to their history, diy history...
  1:48pm
rosh:

that said, steve doesn't have to do shit ,he's done more enough for a whole slew of people around the world.i'm just selfishly putting it out there in hopes of seeing him play.
  1:48pm
paul b:

Postive Force in DC I believe still keeps up with all its old school "punk" endeavors http://www.positiveforcedc.org
  1:49pm
JT:

I love Tube Disaster. One of my favorites.
  1:50pm
bratt...:

what sux is that pittsburghs the punkest city in the states...so many european bands play here and love every minute of it...why cause were punk...were the steel city...a working class city thats hittin the shitter and we know what its like to be poor and see the shite go on around us and we will show you a good time as mentioned above...and yet tours like this never come through here and were left to spend our hard earned money to travel to other shite citys that have a bunch of mall punks(3) to see such acts...whats up with that...most say it the guarantee that the bands ask for...which sux cause its about the kids etc and im sure yalls got enough money to get to the next town...blows is what i say...
  1:52pm
BSI:

@paul b: I think there might be shows here & there but the flyer campaigns sure aint what they used to be (speaking as a cranky old relic from Positive Force mid-late '80s)
  1:53pm
BSI:

& thanks for the Flux & Peni, Diane.... a rare treat indeed!
  2:01pm
jljl:

The Mob: Best Crass band ever (IMHO)
  2:03pm
Handsome Harry:

Great show today - really enjoying this one.
  2:05pm
Ike:

I was not familiar with Crass. I like. But, ouch! Was that ultra-high feedbacky screech at the beginning of the Poison Girls track intentional?
  2:06pm
stefan:

I think Mr. Ignorant was talking about Food Not Bombs, active in San Francisco and elsewhere, always getting in trouble with the police for giving away free food to people who needed it...
  2:13pm
Jim Idol:

I thought he was taking about Krisnas..I thought he mentioned white robes so I just figured
  2:29pm
Pliny Harris:

This interview is so good it's chilling. I wish someone was recording it.
  2:30pm
BSI:

yeh, the ISKCON guys would come 'round to peace park here in DC and feed the homeless folk. I figured he was referring to the krsna/krishna folk.
  2:32pm
Kamikaze:

Thanks Pliny! Steve was very clearly, an easy person to speak to with nothing to hide. This program will be archived as a "special show", and it will be available to listen to anytime. Just search the home page after about 6pm tonight. If you search "Steve Ignorant" I'm sure this program will come up front and center!
  2:33pm
Cecile:

ITA, Pliny. This is why WFMU is my charity of choice.
  2:35pm
rosh:

@bratt. Agreed.Sux that bigger bands tend to only visit "major cities". It's expected of bigger or more mainstreamed bands but it does suck that this tour is very limited. P.S. very sad to hear Mr. Roboto Project closed down, that space was rad.
  2:36pm
Pliny Harris:

Thank you!
  2:39pm
Cecile:

You'd be surprised at how many tours we miss in Minneapolis. The Ex didn't make it here until about three years ago...
  2:41pm
BSI:

Cecile ... yeh, but you had the COWS. I bow in humble reverence....
  2:42pm
Cecile:

Cows. No the. Yeah, they were pretty amazing.
  2:43pm
Cecile:

Of course, I never saw them live because I stopped going to shows for years when I first got here. :/

Wish they'd reunite instead of another Suburbs reunion.
  2:45pm
kwhitehead:

Amazing show, thanks! The Hugh Cornwell program you did awhile back was top notch as well.
  2:47pm
BSI:

Cecile: we were indeed lucky to get several AmRep tours through dc back then (cows/god bullies, a perfect pair) ...
  2:48pm
rosh:

show was amazing, thanks diane & everyone who worked on it! And in total agreement w/cecile,i make shit for money but i give to fmu & other great organiztions that r free form & free of corporate b.s. Long live fmu. Long live free form.
  2:59pm
bratt...:

@rosh...now that thats gone(roboto) there has been a couple more venues that has popped up...helter shelter...222 ormsby...jimmys(annihilation time)house...all diy venues with better sound...ha...which is what bothered me bout roboto...tho the best and most over packed show i had seen there(and my last) was icons of filth on there last tour before stig...well you know...and thnx fer recognizing...UP THE PUNX YALL...and sweet interview diane...steve was honest and you know...we all break our promises...ha
  3:32pm
