Listener comments!

  12:08pm
JT:

This sounds like Suicide feeding back on itself over AM radio
  12:10pm
Jay from Scotland:

*****!
  12:10pm
JT:

This sounds like the last song played at half speed, feeding back over itself over AM radio.

These are good things, BTW.
  12:12pm
Carmichael:

Hi Liz. Sensible music for a Monday morning.
  12:13pm
Emmalee:

I like this song!
  12:14pm
Marco:

Hi Liz:) is this your astral voyage show;)
  12:15pm
Liz B.:

Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in and hope the tunes are hitting the spot.
  12:15pm
nate in detroit:

Hey Liz, greetings from Detroit. Great start!
  12:16pm
R I S K Y:

RATTLE MY HEAD COLD LIZ!
  12:18pm
R I S K Y:

YER IN MY BRAIN LIZ!!!!
  12:19pm
Marco:

Cool! real 60's psychedelic music. Arrests hopped up on acid and LSD! Cool!
  12:32pm
dc pat:

ok, let's get back to the bike talk....ah just kiddin...
  12:33pm
Liz B.:

I got a flat for the first time this weekend!
  12:33pm
Marco:

Ok let me say it HAIL SATAN! Ok got that out of my system
  12:34pm
dc pat:

first time EVER?? Jeeze, I can't tell you how many flats I've fixed. I'm a freakin expert.
  12:35pm
Marco:

Ut oh Liz got a flat? Not a good sign:)
  12:35pm
dc pat:

Static Static is like a grungey Devo.
  12:36pm
Marco:

Is that code for I need a man in my life:)
  12:38pm
Liz B.:

Most of my previous riding was done on the clean streets of Northern CA, I think I must have run over some glass or tornado debris in Brooklyn.
  12:43pm
dc pat:

I had these fancy racing tires on my bike and I kid you not, I got a flat once a week.
  12:43pm
D:

ROCK N ROLL!
  12:44pm
nate in detroit:

I'm coming to NYC this week (Wed-Sun) for the Pavement show in Central Park. Anything cool going on that I should check out? Any recommendations for food, drink, music or art would be great.
  12:45pm
Marco:

Streets are really dirty in Brooklyn if I could levitate I wouldn't walk them they are so filthy!
  12:46pm
dc pat:

In DC, they're full of pot holes. You gotta ride constantly surveying the street ahead for possible death traps.
  12:47pm
nate in detroit:

...I already checked in on Bob's show and thought I'd continue the survey here (sorry if anyone is annoyed by the repeated posting). I've already gotten suggestions for PS1 in Queens, and the Chelsea galleries. keep em coming!
  12:47pm
D:

Roads around here are too third-world for cycling.
  12:48pm
Liz B.:

Nate, check these pages for cool NYC events:

  12:49pm
nate in detroit:

Great, thanks, Liz!
  12:50pm
D:

First time listener, long time caller.
  12:51pm
Ike:

Nate, as far as food goes -- any particular cuisines?
  12:57pm
dc pat:

Hey Ike, long time no read.
  12:59pm
nate in detroit:

@ike Nothing in particular food-wise...I've got no restrictions except that I'd like to avoid anywhere TOO expensive...other than that I'm up for about anything.
Drinks-wise, I'm into craft beers/micro brews, and basically any interesting bars that don't have a dress code.
  1:01pm
Ike:

You too Pat. I should be working instead of commenting but the prospect of commenting about food is too enticing.
  1:10pm
Binky:

Yes! Tony Gets Wasted in Pedro = awesome.
  1:10pm
still b/p:

Lady Gaga, of all people, is down the street, talking about "don't ask, don't tell." I started reading a piece in which Camille Paglia gives Gaga a beatin'. No one asked for the Gaga news, but there it is.
  1:14pm
Ike:

Nate, options are vast. If you dig authentic Asian, see one of the Chinatowns in Queens, in Flushing or Elmhurst. Better than Manhattan's Chinatown (although that's not bad). You could just walk around and stare. They're like being in Taipei or Hong Kong. More to come....
  1:17pm
dc pat:

Thanks for Reactionaries. It's embarrassing but I'm not sure I've ever heard that. I own everything the minutemen ever did too...
  1:18pm
Skirkie:

You played Personal and the Pizzas as I was browsing pizza related photos from yesterday.

http://tmout.us/c36CjC

It weirded me out a little.
  1:24pm
em:

hey dc pat and other dc'ers -- i just moved to dc a couple of weeks ago. can you all give me some recommendations on what websites/publications i should check out for the good live music listings? pretty easy to figure out who's playing the black cat and 9:30 club, but there's a whole city out there...
  1:24pm
Carmichael:

Well, time for me to hit those clean Northern California streets for a meeting. Have a good one everyone.
  1:34pm
Noel in DC:

em: welcome to town. One club that plays some interesting stuff is the Velvet Lounge, and there are some interesting shows listed at http://inyrbasement.tumblr.com/ . The City Paper does cover some things as well, so it's worthy of an occassional gander.
  1:35pm
bennett4senate:

hi all
  1:38pm
dc pat:

Hi em. I look at the http://dcist.com/ sometimes. Velvet is great. Also DC9 is worth checking out and Comet Ping Pong on Conn Ave gets great shows. But....I don't get out a lot these days...
  1:40pm
em:

thanks noel and dc pat, i appreciate the help!
  1:46pm
Noel in DC:

em--you might also want to check out Clavius productions, which is Scott Verrastro of Kahoutek. Scott, bless his heart, is a great guy and is responsible for booking a lot of good stuff in DC. You might also want to check out Baltimore. The Talking Head and Otto Bar have a lot of bands that skip DC, for some reason, and Baltimore has some places that do some really interesting shows, such as Tarantula Hill and Floristree (don't know if they're still doing shows). Oh yeah, if you go to Baltimore, you might like to check out the True Vine record store.
  1:46pm
Skirkie:

Me, I'm a little afraid of tigers.
  1:54pm
Mike East:

Sound Garden is also an excellent Baltimore record store. I played a place called Fletcher's with Mary Prankster back in the day. That's a decent venue, as well
  1:58pm
Ike:

Nate: Just a few NYC restaurant ideas: Sigiri, Ariana Afghan, Singapore Cafe, Prosperity Dumpling (standing room only, but worth it), Xi'an Famous Foods (four locations, C-town one is SRO), Chao Thai & Upi Jaya (Queens), White Bear (Flushing), Turkish Cuisine (9th Ave.), Maoz, Hummus Place, Taim (SRO). All BYO, I think. Skip Mexican here, I hear it's far better in Detroit. I'll leave the Eur/Amer recs to others.

Thanks for the recommendations, Ike. Your list looks great!
  2:05pm
Todd 76%:

@em: you might want to check this out this week: the sonic circuits festival is going on now...http://dc-soniccircuits.org/
re: Noel in DC's post - I think Scott V moved to Philly in 2009, unless he's already back in DC.
Great show as usual, Liz!
  2:05pm
Ike:

Nate, that's barely a dent in the possibilities! Anyone else have recommendations?
  2:07pm
nate in detroit:

@Ike: Yes, the Mexican here is excellent.
  2:10pm
joerg w:

such a great radio station. and what an incredibly smart iphone app. thank from joerg/cologne
  2:15pm
Noel in DC:

Todd 76%: I think you're right about Scott's relocation to Philly.
Liz: Great show as usual!
  2:16pm
nate in detroit:

I just saw Rangda here in Detroit a week or so ago. That song (and basically the entire set) was a pretty intense performance. They put on a great show
  2:22pm
dL:

big blood woot
  2:23pm
jordan from Buffalo:

I saw Big Blood in Providence two months ago, they were absolutely fantastic and so is the new lp.
  2:28pm
raga:

nate: indeed. i saw rangda here in pittsburgh and it was a great show. particularly enjoyed plain of jars.
  2:28pm
still b/p:

Saw BB a couple of weeks ago...they don't intend to perform much for a while.
  2:31pm
Skirkie:

Tuesday? I, for some reason thought Thee Oh Sees were playing with Pavement on Tuesday.

...Actually their Facebook page claims they're doing both. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
  2:34pm
bennett4senate:

liz I was in the ocean yesterday, for some post-labor day bonus round beaching.
  2:35pm
Liz B.:

I am jealous of your beaching.
  2:50pm
bennett4senate:

wow that mim suleiman is gooooood
