	12:51am Danne D: Have a good one, paul! Regarding the center in lower manhattan: It's actually very cut and dried. There is a freedom to worship in this country. The zoning laws in New York permit a private enterprise (in this case a religious community center) on privately-owned land in that location. If it's a mosque - same thing applies - within the zoning laws and such that any other religious organization wanted to build something there, they are free to do so under the constitution. People are free to oppose it as well and say it's improper. That is also their right. But it does not supercede the rights of those who choose to build it. Everything else that's being argued is completely besides the point in this particular case. On a side note, um, I didn't know there was a line-item for Camden City in the budget for the Department of Defense...

	12:57am Danne D: But I actually disagree Alex, war is not always an economic venture. However, it is the type of situation which can be perpetuated by those with an economic incentive to do so. The Troubles in Northern Ireland are a classic example of that. Btw, actually was in DC, drove right across the mall through one of the streets that traverse it - honestly forgot about the rally as I was heading where I was. On the inconvenience factor (which is how I grade protests) I'd give it about a 2 1/2 out of 10 (based on my friends who saw a lot of them on the socialist public transit system)

	2:51am gerardo: come to think of it... although it's true that no one recognizes their own voice when recorded or on a mike, comments of the 'listeners' help a lot to assess that. i must say in my case i'm more confident with my voice than with how i look (!)

The zoning laws in New York permit a private enterprise (in this case a religious community center) on privately-owned land in that location. If it's a mosque - same thing applies - within the zoning laws and such that any other religious organization wanted to build something there, they are free to do so under the constitution. People are free to oppose it as well and say it's improper. That is also their right. But it does not supercede the rights of those who choose to build it. Everything else that's being argued is completely besides the point in this particular case. On a side note, um, I didn't know there was a line-item for Camden City in the budget for the Department of Defense...

The Troubles in Northern Ireland are a classic example of that. Btw, actually was in DC, drove right across the mall through one of the streets that traverse it - honestly forgot about the rally as I was heading where I was. On the inconvenience factor (which is how I grade protests) I'd give it about a 2 1/2 out of 10 (based on my friends who saw a lot of them on the socialist public transit system)
