My gosh, that "Chanson D'Amour" was totally something my Dad used to play, probably on the big furniture-finished Magnavox combination radio and phonograph. I'll have to poke through his LPs and see if it's filed somewhere between the Ray Conniff and the Bert Kaempfert.

Jeff M:

...and to jump back a bit, to the Allan Sherman... in that same collection of Dad's LPs there's of course a copy of "My Son, the Folk Singer". I used to listen to it constantly, although it took a few years before I actually understood many of the references to Jewish culture. Kind of like the way, as a wee sprat, I had pretty much the entire Tom Lehrer canon memorized, but understanding many of the things he was referring to came gradually, over the next couple of decades.
  8:28pm
texas scott:

afro puffs...the breakfast of champions.
  8:31pm
Mayor Daley:

Sunday night is heating up.
