Tiny home restaurant with the best seafood chowder arguably in the province. In the town of Grosses Coques..
  11:41am
trirsh:

Halifax? Propeller beer brewed in the north end on Gottingen is great beer-- especially the ESB. Mm. Cousins, the diner on Agricola, has great deep fried clams - if you can stand them. Decent beaches and swimming within ~20 min driving distance to the city -- all worth a visit.
  11:45am
trirsh:

Decent local rag for misc current in Hfx : http://www.thecoast.ca
  11:48am
trirish:

PMD:

Hi all - happy Monday and thanks for the show BW... alas been in and out of my office so will have to catch again on archives.
  11:53am
still b/p:

Parq - RIP 'BCN, eh? Funny how so many quotes confirmed the decline and dimishing appeal since the glory days.
  11:54am
Cecile:

I would have requested Halifax by the Hampton Grease Band, but you need to have a good half hour for that one.

wh'appen BCN?
  11:55am
trish:

Have fun. Water's cold this time of year. Warmer along the Northumberland Strait, where there's also lots of jellyfish (tiny, cute, sting-y)
Most of the touristy spots are terrible.
  11:56am
G:

BCN changed from classic rock to sports talk
  11:58am
trish:

exceptions-- Kejimkujik Nat'l Park -- backwoods
and even the 'touristy' beaches are pretty wonderful all over
  11:58am
Cecile:

oh, boy.
Well, some of those sports DJs have better bumper music than most commercial stations. Still.
  11:59am
Parq:

It's over for what we used to call progressive rock on commercial radio. Really, it's been over for a long time, but the last bits of foundation are crumbling. I haven't turned on my radio tuner (which can't pick up FMU) in months.
  12:01pm
Cecile:

I think it can be reinvented, but it has to get bad enough that someone will takea chance.
  12:03pm
still b/p:

Article in today's Globe about young music seekers sure as hell not seeking/expecting new stuff in broadcast. Radio, shmadio.
  12:12pm
Ike:

Boston still has some decent non-commercial stations, doesn't it? That's where you expect/seek new stuff.

Good show!
