I may be in the car during much of your timeslot today, so let me toss in a precomment now -- We'll miss you on the summer schedule... I bet for a lot of people in the eastern US (and even other timezones) you were part of the unofficial start to the weekend...

I'm not a super hip-hop fan but the songs you just played are quite amazing.

Just had to say it since I'm listening at work and am kinda bored.

Big hello from Montreal.

Joe Steele:

Got 75% of my DJ premiums on Wednesday. Boo ya.

doug from dc:

I've still got swag lag.
  3:33pm
SF:

What about the effect that graffiti has on promoting crime? Scientists in Europe found that in an identical piece of street, people were more likely to steal and litter if graffiti is present on the street. Without the graffiti, they did not. A well controlled experiment.

What about the old lady in S.F. with a dry cleaning business out scrubbing graffiti off her business so SF doesn't fine her for "allowing" the public nuisance?
  3:33pm
Cecile:

still waiting. waiting for my turn. My turn, it won't be long.
  3:37pm
Cecile:

I think there should be areas for graffiti art.
Tagging is BS.
And there is also a correlation between public transit. I think graffiti is a valid urban artform, but frankly, when it's on or in the buses, people won't ride them. This has been studied forever.

But a great picture? My husband and I keep driving by this one car that has this perfect spray-painted eyeball on it. If all of it were that good and witty...

north guinea hills:

No one realizes how geographically isolated FLA is until you live there. It's the 4th most populous state, but no one tours there b/c it's a long detour (when driving), and outside the small cultural oasis of g-ville, o-town, & mia, FLA is a cultural desert.
  3:38pm
Cecile:

And I mean gang tags. And ugly tags

do any of the artists know of the graff made 3d in lego? http://www.flickr.com/groups/1093064@N23/pool/
  4:08pm
Cecile:

that's incredible fe2cruz!
  4:12pm
savory c:

what do you guys think of the stuff on paper wheatpasted about? some big others on tracing paper etc.
  4:16pm
fe2cruz:

thanks Cecile. there is some crazy new talent in lego these days. They can build anything even the teenagers. It was nice too hear the writers react so kindly to it.
  4:17pm
Pnut:

What does the entire panel on air today think of sidewalk chalk art, and how common it is becoming for sidewalk chalk artists to be arrested on charges of graffiti, especially in Boston? Is this kind of temporary, but significant art considered graffiti, and how would a graffiti artist that's trying to fight the system connect to, and empathize with the experiences of these sidewalk artists?
  4:18pm
Paul:

Big Up the Irish Go raibh maight agat mo chairde
  4:21pm
Cecile:

I think sidewalk chalk art is a genius idea and very cool. I wish they would do it here more. I mean, all you need to do is hose it off if there's a problem.

Besides, didn't they do that in Mary Poppins? ;D
  4:22pm
Pnut:

I think its great, and yes, good call on Marry Poppins. I believe you are correct! :)
  4:25pm
dc pat:

my kids are sidewalk chalk artists.
  4:28pm
Pnut:

I think your kids are safe.... until they turn 18 and the law no longer finds it acceptable for them to be such. :/
  4:28pm
Carmichael:

Dia Dhom Billy and Internet sawyers and scratchers.

Sidewalk chalk is the way to go. So is permitted graffiti art. But taggers and urban hooligans only understand a boot to the ghoulies. Which I am pleased to provide.
  4:28pm
Cecile:

yeah, and more power to 'em.
  4:29pm
Carmichael:

"sawyers"?? I meant swayers, like to the music.
  4:49pm
FCC helpers:

Y'all cain't say no swayers on the radio.
  5:23pm

  5:50pm
Todd 76%:

I think you're right, Cecile, but I think they expanded the beat into a pop/r&b song (chorus, bridge, etc.)...
  5:52pm
Cecile:

Of course! It's a great version!
  5:55pm
Todd 76%:

Isn't it? That era of r&b still kills me...your musical knowledge is always impressive, I gotta say!
