Listener comments!

  12:04pm
GP:

Scott, This is a wonderful song.
  12:06pm
Andy:

Good Afternoon from St. Margaret's Bay in Nova Scotia! I think that the artist's name is Bahar- not the track's name. He sounds like the Turkish James Blood Ulmer.
  12:10pm
PMD:

Hi Scott! Where's the beer?
  12:12pm
dc pat:

yes, bring back the beer
  12:12pm
postmanpaul:

B E E F H E A R T ! ! !
  12:14pm
PMD:

Note that I said beer and not beef. Though I am hungry and will go eat lunch now.
  12:14pm
dc pat:

D E A TH S E N T E N C E : P A N D A !
  12:16pm
Cecile:

I know how to crochet a panda.
  12:18pm
dc pat:

I wish I had a program that would insert random pops and crackles into all my mp3's.
  12:19pm
Jim Fowler:

I know how to Heimlich a gibbon.
  12:19pm
kent goldings:

the band is called hayvanlar alemi, according to their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/hayvanlaralemi
  12:23pm
Cecile:

they are pretty great, kent.
I heard them last week and was blown away. I have to send away for that demo
  12:28pm
kent goldings:

  12:29pm
JEff m:

nice dreambaby dream cover. Been hearing peeps talk about it. nice to finally hear it. Have to say the song is very Brucish.
  12:29pm
Ike:

I have to agree that the Hayvanlar Alemi track was supreme.
  12:30pm
Cecile:

I will be the dissenting opinion here in the form of a lolcat:
"Suicide: Ur doing it rong"
  12:31pm
postmanpaul:

Talking of building dust infiltrating ones CD/DVD portal on ones personal computer and buggering 'bout with hairy off-the-radar audio receptoroids...
I think I have I have that pop'ncrakle program installed.
  12:34pm
cosmic:

whats up people, scott

im listening. not pleased to have missed beefheart!
  12:35pm
born in the you-ess-a:

i hope suicide gets some good $$$ from this guy doing their stuff
  12:37pm
maverick:

wow, john mccain's lost album! i never knew...
  12:37pm
postmanpaul:

Hi cosmic - How's tricks there?
I'm pleased to hear that your headphones have finally caught up with you!
  12:38pm
Jeff M:

Well, in some ways i agree with you Cecile. It's certainly nothing like from Ghostriders and I can think of many better cover versions of Suicide songs, but it's still pretty decent and sort of channels Suicide in a more romantic and nostalgic way that fits in with the Bruce cosmology. Don't want to get too long here.
  12:39pm
fishmonkeystew:

Hey, I recognize those sampled bits! Alone in the wilderness with Dick Proenneke.
  12:52pm
postmanpaul:

This is reminding me of root canal treatment.
  12:54pm
annie:

reading playlist, watching comments, listening to random youtube selections from vaste fmu hurried notes.
  1:02pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  1:08pm
d:

this song sounds quite aksak maboul doesnt it?
  1:13pm
Nat:

dagmar kraus' voice sounded different than it did on the album I have. I fear change!

YO SCOTT
  1:15pm
Scott:

Yo Nat! And hi everyone. Yeah, that Dagmar - so flexible.
  1:23pm
Cecile:

  1:49pm

  1:50pm
Scott:

  2:00pm
jeff m:

this is a really cool song man ( plastic palace .. )
  2:09pm
dc pat:

I just had to do a quick search on Rory Storm to see if he was still around...different one I guess.
  2:10pm
Scott:

Rory Storm? You mean the one that put his head in the oven? No, that one's long gone. This is a diff one, from NZ.
  2:11pm
dc pat:

the one Ringo played drums for. Upon being asked why he didn't attend his funeral, Ringo said: "I wasn't there when he [Storm] was born either."
  2:13pm
dc pat:

actually wkipedia says something about sleeping pills or chest infection..
  2:15pm
Scott:

you mean that story about him & his mum with the suicide pact in the kitchen is all apocryphal?! Well cancel my damn subscription to the death rock tribune
  2:16pm
Cecile:

The George Jones sings Hank gets short shrift in some circles. I think it's pretty great.
  2:17pm
Cecile:

record, I meant to put in there.
  2:20pm
Scott:

That's why I don't live in circles. Plus being square.
  2:21pm
Ringo:

Peace, love, I'm a putz. Peace.
  2:24pm
Cecile:

I think of you as more trapezoidal, Scott.
  2:24pm
begger:

yay!
  2:26pm
dc pat:

it's funny how everyone has moved on from Deerhoof to Deerhunter
  2:28pm
Cecile:

I wish they sounded more like the movie.
  2:28pm
Scott:

Yo dc pat, sometimes it's just all about the segue.
  2:28pm
yay:

remember deerfucker? 80's hardcore band outta dc.
  2:29pm
deerfucker:

just kidding
  2:31pm
Ike:

That's one of the most overrated, overblown, clumsy, heavy-handed movies ever made. The band is better. Although I prefer their previous album. I like noise. "Microcastle" is too full o' hippie-folk.
  2:31pm
detroitdave:

deerfucker huh....................are you really SD?
  2:33pm
Cecile:

No, sorry, misunderstanding - they just didn't think George did such a great job on that record. They like how George sings Hank, just not how that record turned out. I like the record.
  2:33pm
dc pat:

that's what I was thinkin'
  2:34pm
GP:

CURSE you Wikipedia! another childhood belief ripped to shreds.
  2:34pm
Cecile:

Ike, I think I'm mostly thinking about Christopher Walken's unhinged performance in the movie.
  2:36pm
Sean Daily:

Four minutes to beeeeeeeer... Or at least four minutes to what should be beeeeeeeer...
  2:37pm
detroitdave:

SD you get to drink beer at 2:40?
  2:38pm
Jeff M:

Who originally wrote Witchita Lineman? All i have is covers.
  2:38pm
Cecile:

Jimmy Webb
  2:39pm
?:

ahh thanks sir. Written down.
  2:40pm
jeff m:

Whoops no name
  2:40pm
Cecile:

I'm not a sir, but you are very welcome!
  2:41pm
dc pat:

I was gonna say, you mean ma'am!
  2:43pm
SJ:

This Wicked Witch is great.
  2:44pm
detroitdave:

Yeah....more like this!!
  2:44pm
bzul:

I once heard Jimmy Webb confess his unease about a songwriting "cheat" in Wichita Lineman - an imperfect rhyme: "time" with "line".
Goodgoshamighty, Jimmy, it's fine.
  2:46pm
dc pat:

  2:51pm
Jeff M:

Ahh apologies Cecile. i rarely post so i don't know who every one is
  2:54pm
Cecile:

that's ok.

Oh, great, my favorite 50s teen snuff record!
