Listener comments!

  3:18pm Kyle:

Too bad I am not home, Monticello is only about 35 minutes from my house. I would love to see this extravaganza.
  3:20pm Laurie:

Good afternoon, Gaylord and Pseuperpower Pseu.
  3:21pm Therese:

Can I just say that I'm as excited for the Pseu/Gaylord banter as I am for any of the bands? Because it's the truth!
  3:22pm Laurie:

Therese, I think I agree. And that's saying a lot considering the fact that I'm waaaaaay more excited for today's line-up than I was yesterday's.
  3:22pm Laurie:

I think you guys should interview fellas with handlebar mustaches.
  3:23pm rob:

what was the song played at the beginning of the show? Eric Bomberg, Momberg? Anyone know?
  3:25pm Pete in LA:

all those grrls for real?
  3:30pm frenchee:

Poor Brad, riding that button down in JC!
  3:33pm Irving:

just Lilys....
  3:36pm Eddie:

The Lilys Fucking rock!!!!
  3:37pm Bradford Eugene LaBonte:

Holding the fort down here in JC good - REAL good!

Heya Rob - it was Eric Malmberg - Jagef, from the "Den gatfulla manmiskan" album. Say that fifty times fast!
  3:37pm Gaylord Fields:

Pete in LA,

They were real, and they were spectacualr(ly wasted at 3pm).
  3:39pm Laurie:

Are they playing my favorites? I think they are. Tell them to play "Any Several Sundays," Pseu!
  3:40pm Eddie:

Yeah! Somebody yell for the Lilys to play "Any Several Sundays" and something from In The Presence of Nothing, though this looks like a mod fest
  3:40pm rob:

thanks. great track and it's on iTunes
  3:43pm Eddie:

Hell, somebody yell for new songs, that's what I want to hear!
  3:44pm Pete in LA:

Pseu is stalking ANNton, is she not?
  3:54pm Laurie:

I like it when bands count it off. 5! 6! 7! 8! It's very A Chorus Line.
  3:59pm Gaylord Fields:

If by stalking you mean Pseu and Anton are stalking each other's tonsils -- wait, i've said too much already.
  4:26pm Irving:

colin blunstone is amazing....nice ref
  4:28pm Laurie:

Dhani Harrison is a fox.
  4:31pm Irving:

ohhh Kurt...
  4:33pm Laurie:

Thank you, Kurt, for saying butthole instead of asshole.
  4:35pm Ken:

Liz or anybody who is dealing with this playlist from ATP: be sure to click "extended songs" from the playlist info so that this playlist doesn't disappear from the homepage.
  4:37pm Liz B.:

We're on it
  4:45pm Pete in LA:

Lilys were great. Pseu and Gaylord are doing a great job. Looking fwd to Mercury Rev (isn't half of Suicide?)

  4:54pm tin:

oh dear no archive :(
  5:44pm rin tintin:

hey...does anyone know which album this song is from? (the first of mercury rev's setlist)...i need to cop whatever it is
  5:48pm Iain:

Yay! Thought they were about to break into "Holes" for a good few minutes there :)
  5:50pm Iain:

Sounded like a new one to me, Rin - "out soon" :)
  5:55pm rin tintin:

thanks for the info!
  6:17pm james pee:

the set's been really terrific. wish I was there!
  6:21pm Iain:

"Cheers" to the Rev and WFMU - this is fantastiic, from an ocean away.
  6:22pm Laurie:

That song was beautiful. I'm glad they played that before they cut away for Spectrum.
  6:26pm KM:

I was worried too that they'd cut from The Dark is Rising, but so happy they didn't as it was my highlight of this weekend so far..
  6:27pm Iain:

Hey Laurie! Did you ever find proof of the T-Shirt band?
  6:31pm Tim W:

nice photos on flickr guacamoliest
  6:33pm Laurie:

No, Iain. I think it will remain a mystery.
  6:36pm Kyle:

I agree with you T.W.
  6:41pm pinklentil:

holy cow!! this is a red crayola song!!
  6:52pm Jason:

Yooo Laaa Tengo!
Yooo Laaa Tengo!
  6:53pm MONTREAL:

  6:54pm Gabriel:

Please... more Spectrum while we WAIT for YLT! Stop talking and get back to Spectrum.
  6:55pm Iain:

Nice fill man! Are they tuning a harp? :) And did he mention Mogwai at all?
  6:56pm Liz B.:

Spectrum was over at least 7 min ago
  6:57pm Gabriel:

Thanks... it sounded like you faded out of Spectrum just to yakk about YLT. Well... bring em on!!!
  6:58pm sugarwolf:

There was a funny article in the local paper today about how polite and well-mannered the ATP audience is.

I bought a vintage Kutsher's postcard this weekend.
  7:00pm Liz B.:

Yeah, we faded the last 30-60 seconds of Spectrum, so apologies for that, but we didn't want to cut off YLT. Only 2 members of Spectrum were left on stage when we switched so it was pretty much over.
  7:02pm Laurie:

Tell them to play "Cherry Chapstick," Gaylord.
  7:04pm Gabriel:

Liz B. - Sorry to sound rude. I'm across the country in Sacramento and LOVE the fact that you are broadcasting this great music for all (including me) to enjoy. Thanks for all your hard work at WFMU and keep up all the great music. You guys truly inspire this former KDVS DJ.
  7:05pm Iain:

After Laurie's request, please get them to choose to play "Lot G" or "Madeline"! ;)
  7:06pm james pee:

it got a little quiter after the station ID. Turn it back up, please!

It's so great ya'll are doing this. One Love from Birmingham, Alabama!
  7:06pm Liz B.:

No worries Gabriel, we just don't want you to think that we're depriving you! Lots going on, so it's hard to fit in everything (plus some stuff is running on rock and roll time...)
  7:08pm james pee:

I Was The Fool Beside You For Too Long?
  7:13pm Rich G.:

What song is this?
  7:16pm aj:

flying lesson
  7:16pm Nick:

Ira Kaplan is fucking ripping his guitar to shreds... Oh how I wish I were there right now.
  7:18pm Laurie:

Go, Ira the K, go!!
  7:26pm Laurie:

Georgia <33
  7:27pm Iain:

Just gorgeous...
  7:30pm LittleMy:

Immensely swoonful.
  7:35pm Nick:

Whatever you guys do, PLEASE don't cut away from this set...
  7:37pm Laurie:

Gaylord said they will be broadcasting this set in its entirety. He also said he does not lie. The man can only speak the truth, it's true.

Also, I love this song.... oh my god. Just as I typed that, the stream popped. Okay, it's fine again.
  7:46pm tom:

ATP is down with it love the shows only wish I could be there but there's http://www.wfmu.org < what more can you ask ?? ....
  7:49pm Liz B.:

Fear not, we're broadcasting YLT's entire set. Glad everyone's enjoying this!
  7:50pm Laurie:

My favorite is diaf.
  7:55pm MONTREAL:

  7:55pm Nick:

Ms. Liz, will you guys be streaming Mogwai now?
  7:56pm Iain:

Hey! We're nice!!! And did Gaylord call us Scots unwashed Hell's Angels?
  7:58pm hecky:

Wow, that'd be cool--a 20 min. version of Steppenwolf's 'Born To Be Wild' done by Mogwai, on behalf of their roadies.
  7:59pm Liz B.:

We didn't get permission from Mogwai to broadcast their set, sorry.
  7:59pm Linda:

Hi Gaylord!!!!!!!
  8:00pm Parq:

Liz, doll! Great to hear you on mike.
  8:00pm KM:

Love Mogwai but boo to them for not letting you broadcast. That would have been great to hear.
  8:01pm Gaylord Fields:

Linda!!! I love you as much as a well-scrubbed non-biker Scotsman!
  8:01pm james pee:

Any chance the fates will bring us MBV?
  8:01pm Iain:

Boo to Mogwai! Celtic fans, by the way....;)
  8:02pm Iain:

Haha, that would be me then, Gaylord!
  8:03pm Gaylord Fields:

How can i not love a nation that produced Harry Lauder?
  8:04pm KM:

Nothing wrong with that! come on celtic tomorrow...well today now
  8:06pm Liz B.:

Not much of a chance for broadcasting MBV, we would need a christmas miracle at the 11th hour. Unless someone knows the Jedi mind trick, that is...
  8:07pm poops:

what is playing?
  8:08pm Nick:

I'm sure MBV would also break some "acceptable noise level" FCC rules or some such shit as well...
  8:10pm poop:

what was playing when poops asked whats playing
  8:11pm KM:

Yeah can we get these songs on the playlist too?
  8:12pm Iain:

Haha - Harry lauded as a cultural icon in 2008. Nice one Sir!

In a gesture of friendship, km, Celtic won 3-1 today. 2nd place in the league :)

Seconds on the playlist request Linda - I know this tune, can't think who it is.
  8:14pm KM:

Oh I thought it was sunday they played. crap..
well I'll see highlights on monday
  8:16pm Therese:

Sounding good, Frenchie!
  8:21pm Parq:

Therese, you sounded all reet yourself during your shift last night.
  8:25pm Parq:

Liz, what about "Liniment Me Call You Sweetheart"?
  8:25pm frenchee:

thanks lovelies!
  8:25pm Iain:

Boards of Canada it is! "Chromakey Dreamcoat" - Thanks Liz :)
  8:26pm frenchee:

PS: shakin' like a leaf!
  8:28pm frenchee:

thanks Iain! do you pronounce the name EYE-uhn or EEEE-uhn?
  8:31pm Iain:

EEEE-uhn, Liz - just like "Ian", but with a dubious Scottish affectation to the spelling!

And why the "shakin"?
  8:34pm frenchee:

newbie nerves
  8:38pm Laurie:

Was that Gilberto Gil just then?
  8:40pm fooool:

that was brazilian right?
again great stuff
  8:43pm fooool:

before, again, incredible sue

still can't believe they haven't tripled your salaries yet, or have they?
  8:46pm frenchee:

yes, we're being paid in stock now
  8:46pm Laurie:

I took my mom to see Gilberto Gil here in Miami for her birthday this year. She loooooooooved it. It was his Broadband tour. He encouraged everyone to record the show and remix it if they so desired and upload their remixes online, along with any videos or pictures they took. I thought that was kind of cool.
  8:48pm Larry:

Who was behind that new wave song?
  8:51pm Laurie:

GOOD NEWS: The Colbert Report just won an Emmy.
  8:52pm Doctor B.:

Whose version of "Hello, hello" (the old Sopwith Camel tune) is that that you're playing?
  8:53pm foool:

you're reachin out aren't you?
hello to you
  8:54pm C:

I caught the Broadband show down in DC and loved it too Laurie. Do you know if there's an archive of people who took him up on his offer? I'd love to get a copy of it.
  8:57pm spamgie:

was that alice and/or john coltrane a bit earlier? would love to know what song that was. thx! :)
  8:58pm Iain:

Good job Liz! Can you tell the name of the new wave track again please?

And it's BEEEETA Band - more Scots and their vowels! ;)
  8:58pm fooool:

shares? you're teasing. if not hope they're back dated to9/10/01
again, with all purity, thanks to you and all
  9:02pm Linda:

XO to you Gaylord! Enjoying Monticello and Liz' show cookin' up supper here in Seattle! Con mucho carino!
  9:03pm frenchee:

Iain: the new wave is from Michael Goodstein's premium
the band is naked lunch
the cut is weekend behaviour
/Scottish/English spelling
  9:04pm Linda:

Dr. Fields? Dr Gaylord Fields?
  9:05pm frenchee:

It was Alice: Journey inSatchidananda--no John on this CD
but Pharoah Sanders
  9:05pm Iain:

Thank you again Liz - "Cheers" :)
  9:06pm spamgie:

thx!!! :)
  9:07pm frenchee:

  9:09pm Laurie:

"Rich Girl" is my jam.
  9:12pm Therese:

  9:13pm Laurie:

  9:29pm Laurie:

omg I love this song. "See a Little Light" <3
  9:30pm Lupica:

Yeah, I forgot about this song. Laurie, what record is this on?
  9:33pm Laurie:

Workbook, I think. Was that his first solo album?
  9:34pm Lupica:

Black Sheets of Rain is the other one I'm thinking of. Must be one of the two, eh?
  9:35pm Laurie:

I can tell you this much: I was 6 years old when Workbook came out.
  9:36pm Laurie:

  9:38pm Laurie:

Ha ha, I was wondering if Wurster was going to be hitting the skins tonight.

PS: Hammerhead for Mayor. Because Newbridge needs a NUDGE in the RIGHT direction.
  9:41pm Therese:

No weak pits!
  9:45pm RIch G.:

I Apologize! Hell Yeah!
  9:48pm Andrew:

Chartered Trips!
  9:49pm Lupica:

People here are going bananas over the Husker Du songs
  9:57pm Parq:

Man, he's still doing "Makes No Sense" -- who'da thunk that would become a classic. Wonder if he'll do the MTM theme.
  9:59pm Rich G.:

Hey WFMU, thanks so much for broadcasting this. Totally made my night!
  10:00pm oadie:

Not so great that Mould's voice is twice as loud as anything else in the mix.
  10:01pm Laurie:

Wooooooooo. "New Day Rising." Almost makes up for the fact that Kevin Shields won't let y'all broadcast MBV.
  10:03pm wht:

punk isn't perfect pal
  10:06pm oadie:

Hey, "pal",

A muddy (read: punk) mix would have been better.
  10:12pm Laurie:

Can someone please share a picture of this bassist fellow? Google is not finding anything for a "Jason Arducci."
  10:15pm Laurie:

Oh, Jason Narducci.

Google still isn't helping, really.
  10:20pm Irving:

it's Narducy
  10:21pm Laurie:

I actually am managing my facebook account. My last status update was 40 minutes ago.
  10:26pm KM:

Hey yell at them to hurry up, I was looking forward to hearing a full hour set.
  10:32pm rev:

Anyone know who is opening for the MBV show on the 23rd at roseland?
  10:38pm KM:

Okay I take back the complaining. This was worth staying up til 4am for.
  10:40pm Lucy:

what happened!
  10:40pm Laurie:

  10:41pm KM:

Haha, perhaps spoke too soon.
  10:41pm Lucy:

that was so amazing, i'm going to cry!
  10:42pm Jared:

Did MBV go on already?
  10:42pm Laurie:

Me too!!

Of course, I saw them live at Pitchfork and stayed in the same hotel as J. and Lou, so I can't complain.
  10:43pm marky ramone:

this reminds me of when we was tourin' for subterranean jungle...and the sounds kept getting cut out in my monituhs cuzzada the way we was probally rocking way too hard
  10:46pm philly:

Hey Marky, Rock or Rot?
  10:48pm Laurie:

  10:50pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Gosh...I've waited for years to hear Dinosaur Jr. Nice to hear them live. Hats off to WFMU for the lovely treat.
  10:51pm marky ramone:

  10:58pm Laurie:

OMG, J. Mascis can shred.
  11:00pm KM:

Yes! I hoped they would play this more than any other.
  11:01pm Dean:

You're Gaylord and that's OK, lord.
  11:06pm pinklentil:

wait, what was that song quote at the end just now?
  11:07pm Tommy:

Is Dinosaur Jr.'s tardiness going to affect the BJM broadcast? I'm curious to hear if they are as poorly prepared, incoherent, and drugged up as they were at the Williamsburg gig on Friday.
  11:07pm Laurie:

YES! I also love this song! <33333
  11:07pm KM:

This is just awesome. If only this was being archived. :(
  11:11pm sigmund_freud:

what does "<33333" mean ? it look"s kinda phallic.
  11:13pm Laurie:

Switch over? Nooooooooooo, Although I like Brian Jonestown Massacre too.

Freud: Sometimes an ascii heart is just an ascii heart. <3

<333333 = I love it a lot
  11:13pm Echo:

a Bunnymen cover?
  11:16pm Phil:

Any word whether MBV will be broadcast?
  11:16pm Jared:

Great, there goes any chance of hearing Just Like Heaven.
  11:18pm Liz B.:

Sorry MBV is a no go. We wish we could.
  11:19pm Jared:

Oh well, I'm glad I'm seeing them on Tuesday then. Who else here is going to Roseland then?
  11:38pm jude:

Sorry, noob post ... but why is MBV a no-go for broadcast?
  11:40pm sigmund_freud:

i wanna see paul westerberg next year at 'all tomorrow's parties'.
  11:46pm Liz B.:

We have to get permission from every band we broadcast. Unfortunately, some said no.
  11:47pm KM:

What's the song on right now called? I'm new to BJM but I really like this.
  11:49pm JG:

It might be swallowtail
  11:51pm frenchee:

this has been awesome all the way...too bad about MBV, but what we have been able to hear has been great.
  11:54pm KM:

Thanks JG. I'll have go album hunting soon.
  11:56pm JG:

  11:58pm JG:
