Tzadik label recording artists Talat (trio version) play and chat, live in the studio.

Talat is a dynamic horn-driven NYC-based band rooted in jazz / improv. But there are also Israeli / Jewish / Middle Eastern / Mediterranean elements, and maybe even a bit of prog rock in their constantly evolving musical mix. Jazziz magazine’s reviewer writes: “Never before have I heard such a harmonious and clever interchange of Klezmer and jazz, almost painfully brilliant.”

Talat's next NYC gig is at Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St, Thursday April 3 at 7:30.

  7:21pm Your DJ:

Holger Czukay (ex-Can) has a great song called Blessed Easter with the voice of Pope John Paul II though I don't know if I'll get to it this year. But our guests in the studio, Talat, did just play a Purim song for that Jewish holiday, which is also a very kid-friendly holiday - no eggs though...
  8:18pm wonder woman:

hiya rob, whuts cookin?? you have any holiday plans??
  8:32pm Your DJ:

Well, we'll be calling my 4 year old niece in Portland Oregon, she's a djembe drummer (like a lot of the 4 year olds there), see how the Easter Egg hunt is going. And, um, we're going to do our laundry. Also planning to watch the 1968 Julie Christie - in - San Francisco film Petulia! That's about it!
  8:44pm slugluv1313:
