I'm totally in favor of a Dreampop Neil Sedaka project. But which era? I think shoegaze/dreampop bands can play an assortment of Sedaka's from the '50s to '70s. Twould be an interesting listen.

The word "Bible-thumping" itself implies wacko, possibly dangerous. Otherwise it would be "Bible-quoting", either out of knowledge or to look better than other people (in which case you could prob go with "selective quoting").

1972 "Styx" - prob "Styx I", their debut album.
My Dad said they played at Harrisonburg, VA in '74 or so, and announced from their "fourth album", but no one there at the time had heard their earlier stuff - Styx was still firmly a Midwestern band in the early '70s.

"First shalt thou take out the Holy Bible. Then, shalt thou smite with the Tome to the cranium in three direct strokes. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is *right out*. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Goode Book towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

All that in the afternoon, for that matter
So she'd asked if we could stay with Grace
Maybe a day or a couple of weeks
You know, until Tuesday
Pick up my mushrooms
Clean my skin up
Pick up some tissue
Pick up the production
It's all fine you know
And she served the wine
and cups for 3 or 4 people
And that nonsense

Gracie do her song, heavily spaced
All the pink shine on war
Explores from beneath
Don't you would rather
Be out the front door sometime
Long ago instead of being
Cooped up like a catched rat?"
